If you are getting life in prison, might as well blow up an oil rig or something right?

If they go the route of severe punishment for not severe crimes

Okay, that is true and I agree with it. I was too focused on Gaza

Yeah no shit, with half the place being rubble and controlled by a terrorist group, while being at war and going through a genocide why would it ever be ready?

It's almost as if by letting terror and war rage there you can always hide behind this excuse, how convenient...

Edit: Gaza, not the west bank

Actual sex ed about dick size and it's over stated importance, for those wondering, it is NSFW though, but that's a given in ph.

Dude, not having root is objectively safer, and grapheneOS is security first.

If you want a rom that gives you absolute freedom, there are those as well, but it's not as secure.

P.S you can root grapheneOS, it's just not recommended or catered to and while I don't agree with their tone and the obfuscation of it, I don't think it matters as it just completely goes against security.

60 years ago:

Parent 1: I will work, make enough money for us to live well, buy a house, and retire while also supporting our children through adulthood.

Parent 2: I will raise them, take care of the house and we will both enjoy some time together when the nanny helps.

Now:

Parent 1: I will work and make enough money for us to pay rent and buy food. I will also take care of the kids, and stay in when you are sick or working.

Parent 2: I will also work and make enough money for us to pay for the kids education and basic needs. I will also take care of the kids and stay in when you are sick ir working.

60 years ago it was nice because you were a family first and still had money to live well.

Now these parents are workers first and still will be utterly screwed if an unexpected bill pops up (like a medical bill for those in the US or even a car breaking down)

It's not that being a parent sucks, is that parents (especially for young children and babies) need to be parents first, and today's society is worker first, if you are lucky you can have a second title, for most that title is either "exhausted person" or a second job.

Is it an animal? Is it, it's by products or the products of it's abuse in this food? Yes? Not vegan.

Vegans who decided that eating murdered animals that and up looking like boogers is legit cause they have a different form of living, are just doing the smae thing that vegetarians do about milk and eggs. Which believe a something to feel good about their chocies that are made solely for their pleasure.

In the last year I have discovered that my childhood memories are pretty lacking, like I don't remember major life events and even whole periods of time.

The more I thought about it, the scarier it got. The feeling of having zero recollection of things that people around me remember, is really scary.

I have some psychological issues that I never really understood the root of but after this, and reading about child abuse and specifically child sexual abuse victims and the symptoms that might develop later in life. I have this feeling that maybe something happened to me, and I even have a "suspect" who is not part of my life anymore but was when I was a child.

I suspect that my mother might know something but this is too scary to ask about, and honestly, too scary to investigate because what if it's true?

Did anyone experience something like this? How did you handle it? Am I just scared because I'm missing memories and want to find a reason for my psychological issues?

Writing this down was scary, up until now this was only between me and my brain.

I'm Conflicted (lemmy.world)

I have a Pixel 4a (with Calyx) for a few years already (start of 2021) and it's still going great. The battery is okay. Everything works nice. It's smooth. It runs everything perfectly fine.

This makes me glad to see that hardware wise this phone was really built to last, I can't even count how many times I dropped it so hard that I was scared to see the damage (which was always either nothing or a broken screen protector)

But software wise I'm screwed as security updates are already gone from Google and I only get the extended support from Calyx which will also end soon.

Now I'm forced to choose between having a phone that is insecure or buying a new one.

So thanks Google for the high quality hardware, but what's up with this software planned obsolescence??

I know this isn't exactly right to repair, but it also kind of is because if Google decided to ditch the 4a, they should be forced to open source the software so that the public can actually repair it.

I'm sure that some of their latest updates can be modified slightly to work for the 4a, but they don't care and for them this is a win-win since they don't have to maintian support and they get new customers who would otherwise be satisfied with an "old" phone.

What happened to the days when an old phone meant a phone that was already crumbling to pieces, and not a fully functional computer that is slightly older then a toddler?

Hi, I think in metric units, so almost everything is some form of a power of 10, like a kilogram is a 1000 grams, etc.

Sometimes I will think of an hour and half as 150 minutes before remembering that it is 90 minutes.

Does something similar happen to imperial units users? Because as far as I understand you don't have obvious patterns that would cause you to make these mistakes, right?

I strongly suspect that I have ADHD, but I can't see the benifit of getting diagnosed.

I know that if I get diagnosed and offically have ADHD I can get some medicine but I don't think I want that in any case.

Can you share your experience and what benifit you got from getting offically diagnosed?

I have a home server and I have some HTTP services running on it. I'm thinking if I should even bother with HTTPS, as I'm already using tail scale which should be peer-to-peer and encrypted. So I shouldn't worry about any men in the middle.

Am I missing something?

It just feels wrong to work with non-S HTTP :(

Hi!

I have an HP 360 which has a touch screen and I never found a DE that is great for both regular input and touch input.

Kde is great for regular stuff but meh with touch, gnome is the other way around.

I was thinking of trying out hyperland but didn't look into it's touch compitability.

Any suggestions?

I use arch btw.

So I met this girl by chance and we really hit it off, once I learned of her age I decided to just be friends as I think that 19 to 25 is an age were we mature a lot and I remember myself as a 19yo and I was not mature enough to be a good partner and to be good to myself.

I talked to a female friend of mine and she said that I'm over thinking it and that I should ask her out and be open minded, and so I did and we are going on a date soon.

The thing is, she seems really mature but I can't put aside the age gap.

Am I over thinking it? Should I really just take it slow and just be vigilant about the situation and notice if this isn't healthy for me or her?

Or should I let her down easy and continue as friends?

Update: We went on a date and it was great, I read all of the comments and there were some really good advices that I took to heart. I will take things slow and try to be as aware of the situation as possible. I hope it will go well :)

Thank you everyone!
