Both of them are fucking insane. To devote this much energy to weirdos on the internet is deranged. They both need to devote their energy to better things, as evidenced by the fact that I had to press "show context" on their comment thread so many times I lost patience. I thought everyone on Lemmy was better than this. I dont care what the original cause of the disagreement was at this rate because EVERY step of the way, one of them couldve turned on do not disturb or gone to an alt account or SOMETHING. If either of you are seeing this, you can do better. Flying Squid specifically? Threatening suicide is the number one way to look immature (of every kind), especially over a stranger on the internet. Do. Better.

Edit: If someone could give a kind description of what the drama was even all about, I'd appreciate it. I can't bear to dig through either of their histories.

It's not as much of a horror game as you may have heard. I'm a long time fan of the stalker series and I'd describe it as more of a survival exploration first-person-shooter. There are some moments where it gets a little spooky though, like you may be in a dark area with enemies/monsters every once in a while. It's a horror game in largely the same way that fallout could be one, there's spooky stuff occasionally but at its core its exploration and survival with an FPS perspective.

I love you all. I'm on the younger end of Lemmy users here and I have never faced anything that feels this life-changing. Maybe even the older users haven't, I'm not sure. Get out of this country if you can, and if you can't, organize organize ORGANIZE. We can only rely on eachother now. Work on yourself as well. We all need some intragroup love now.

finally an acknowledgment of this

ive had to leave quite a few trans or generally lgbt focused communities online because of wild levels of codependence

the intense empathy in these communities can sometimes leave people susceptible to certain sorts of manipulation i feel,

several members of those communities i was in would be so easily manipulated by others, with threats like "do ____ or i will harm myself or i will not take care of myself appropriately"

and these often came from people in genuinely concerning and upsetting situations or histories, but they could use their own trauma to rope other people in and seemingly take them down with them

walking away from these kinds of people despite their threats is incredibly liberating

I used to be on ADHD stimulant meds up until I just tried living without them. Was on them as far back as I can remember, and then one day, I had no appetite, so I stopped and realized that the anxiety they gave me was hurting me more than I thought. Now, I'm on anxiety medication that sometimes makes it hard to focus, and I'm not entirely sure how to find that balance of being productive and not having panic attacks daily. Has anyone else experienced this?

Going to have to disagree with this one. Saying /s is helpful for people like me who have a particularly hard time with interpreting text in casual contexts like this. Using /s doesn't change the feel of the comment (at least in my eyes) and helps you understand the tone.
