I once had the inner lid of a microcentrifuge (one of the plastic ones with a snap-like closure) pop off mid-spin. It shot upward with enough force that it knocked the fully latched upper lid open and then shot across the room like a frisbee. Luckily it just hit some shelves and landed on the floor so nobody was hurt but it scared the shit out of me.

Let me guess, they used existing footage and reports as training data, and it produced an incredibly racist ai model that routinely ignores police misconduct. They'll spend a couple years working on bandaids for the problem while police departments across the country use the original model to create reports and use the "unbiased ai reports" as an excuse to hide the raw footage.

Calling hexbear a "trans instance" is pretty misleading. They're explicitly political first and foremost, and happen to have a high concentration of trans/queer users. They were defederated by .world for being overbearing and disruptive, not because of their transness or queerness. Blahaj zone, by comparison, is explicitly a trans instance first and foremost, and is still federated by .world.

That's why it's a basic income. Enough to keep you housed, clothed and fed. Your clothes might be thrifted, your apartment small, and your diet mostly instant ramen, but your basic needs will be covered. Plenty of people would still work hard to get more than the basics.
