The case originates out of Garfield County in Western Colorado. Tyler Boebert, 21, faces five counts in total: three charges of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. All of the charges are felonies and are alleged to have happened in 2024.

The Denver Gazette has requested the arrest affidavit from the Garfield County courts. He was arrested last week by the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office.

This is not the first time Tyler Boebert has had a run-in with the law. He was arrested in 2024 and charged in connection with a string of thefts after he and several friends allegedly broke into cars and stole debit cards, gift cards and cash.

Tyler Boebert is scheduled to appear in Garfield County District Court on Aug. 19 and remains free on a $10,000 bond.

Isn’t this just a Republican right of passage?

The same woman who jerked a man off in public? Her son has no sexual boundaries?! Shocker.

[-] Manjushri@piefed.social 3 points 1 hour ago

Wait, is this her son with the man she married after he pulled his dick out in front of minors, including the then 17-year-old Bobert, in a bowling alley?

It appears that might not be the only thing about Jayson that Rep. Boebert doesn’t want the public to know. In January 2004, when Jayson Boebert was 24, he was arrested for exposing himself to two young women at a Colorado bowling alley. His future wife Lauren Roberts (as she was then known), who was 17 at the time, was also present and was told she was no longer welcome at the bowling alley.

Jayson Boebert pled guilty to “public indecency and lewd exposure” after that incident, according to The New York Post, and was sentenced to four days in jail with a subsequent two years on probation.

It's almost as if they were trying to raise a predator.

[-] MelodiousFunk@slrpnk.net 39 points 16 hours ago

Is this the son of the guy that exposed himself to girls in the bowling alley for fun?

[-] Blade9732@lemmy.world 37 points 16 hours ago

Exposed himself to underaged girls

I never understood the concept of the phrase “underage girl” or “underage boy” as they’re completely tautological. Once a girl comes of age she becomes a woman, and ditto for boys being men. You can’t have an “overage girl” in the same way you can’t have an “underage woman”. English denotes the difference between childhood and adulthood without needing qualification.

[-] leg@leminal.space 4 points 5 hours ago

These days, it's used for emphasis to make sure you're properly upset about it. Try using it in a context where age doesn't matter, and you see how much implied severity it can add.

"I saw you speaking to a girl. What's up with that?"

vs

"I saw you speaking to an underage girl. What's up with that?"

One of them sounds much more like a crime.

[-] Crashumbc@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Not only that but, boy and girl are commonly used as slang terms for women and men well into their late 20s+

[-] KingPorkChop@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 hours ago

I call people in their 40s and 50s boys and girls.

One of those underage girls is his mother after she married her abuser. Generational paedophilia

A true Conservative in the Epstein tradition!

I expect Mommy will make a sizeable contribution to Trump's presidential library to secure a future pardon.

He is accused of having sexual intercourse with a 17-year-old girl when he was 18, according to Tyler Boebert’s arrest affidavit written by invesigators from the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office.

I mean, not quite the same. In most western countries this would not be news or a crime.

[-] Sunflier@lemmy.world 12 points 16 hours ago

These are state charges, which means a different sovereign is prosecuting. Colorado is a blue state too. So, I wouldn't expect her money to get her anywhere in that light.

[-] Octavio@piefed.social 1 points 3 hours ago

Yeah, but Trump has some kind of Kompromat on Governor Polis. He got him to give Tina Peters clemency.

[-] turtlesareneat@piefed.ca 10 points 13 hours ago

It's always the ones you suspect most.

I understand recording the act turns this into something serious, but I mean come on, it's an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old, having sex.

[-] Octavio@piefed.social 0 points 3 hours ago

The recording and posting on the internet is the crime. The sex itself was not against the law and was not included in the charges.

In a vaccum, yeah no big deal, but the next few lines details the real problem.

The police first began investigating the incident in March 2024 after videos depicting the intercourse were shared publicly on an anonymous Instagram account. Several photos and videos were posted to the Instagram account depicting people having intercourse with minors or depicting minors nude or seminude. One of the videos featured Tyler Boebert.

Officers with the Silt Police Department, in Garfield County, questioned the girl shown in the video with Tyler Boebert in February 2024, shortly after the video was believed to have been filmed, according to the affidavit. That came after someone reported the Instagram account to police in Silt. The arrest affidavit, which is nearly 50 pages long, details the police’s investigation into the Instagram account and who created it.

Investigators allege that Tyler Boebert filmed the video and shared it with others and is suspected of creating the Instagram account that featured other explicit videos.

So, another Republican pedophile ring.

[-] PRIMEcavitationfetishist@quokk.au 7 points 13 hours ago

Kill your local pedophile, bobo. What's the issue?

SEXUALLY ASSAULTING A CHILD? No WONDER why Republicans LOVE his Mother!

Just for context, for those of us not reading the article.

There are plenty of other reasons he's a douche, though, which are also in the article... like sharing those videos without the girl's permission on Instagram.

[-] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

The 18 year old banging a 17 year old is not the issue, that stuff happens all the time and some states even have "Romeo and Juliet" laws to protect people in that situation.

The issue is that he FILMED IT AND SHARED IT WITH FRIENDS WITHOUT HER CONSENT.

[-] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 0 points 9 minutes ago* (last edited 9 minutes ago)

Would consent even matter given she was a minor? Pretty sure even with consent you cant do that if someone is a minor.

[-] taj@lemmy.world 18 points 15 hours ago

And filming it. And distributing it.

[-] curbstickle@anarchist.nexus 13 points 14 hours ago

You may want to keep on reading. There's more.
