I don't know about the rest of the boob havers around here but I quit doing cartwheels the first time my tits hit me hard in the chin doing a cartwheel. Safety consciousness takes some of the whimsy out of it.
My boobs don't do that bc they aren't as big as yours, but with the droopage of my advancing years they might soon. I'm more worried about landing wrong and breaking a hip.
Lady, you have to calm your tits.
You just gotta cartwheel harder so centrifugal force keeps the ladies in line
hmmm. They're pretty close to the center of mass in middle age. I fear the best you could hope for is a separate, but you'd have to be booking it
Or just spin horizontally for a while?
I do an annual forward and backward summersault just to see if I still can. Backwards is possible, but I’m starting to make creaking sounds
They do spin, but you have to get her just the right kind of dress that puffs out just right and she'll be spinning in no time. Bonus if the dress also had pockets. She'll smile HUGE, put her hands in the pockets, pull the sides of the skirt out and proudly proclaim it has pockets.
Weighted pockets, for increased angular momentum
Finally, I can combine my love of women with my love of beyblades.
You know there is this semicompetitive fighting dance sport that's all the new hotness
Love a good twirl in a fun dress or skirt!
Can confirm. My wife loves to spin in a fun dress. Bonus if I spin her around like professional dancers would.
My partner was in the water yesterday and started spinning around saying "I am kabob". She has apparently not lost this impulse.
This person is correct, and it makes me sad
This world could do with more whimsy
We live in concrete cages. My wife drunkenly attempted many cartwheels on our grassy campus grounds in college
Being a whimsical person is the easiest way to be the change you want to see in the world.
Everyone has access to whimsy, even if you are in prison or being tortured.
I worked with a woman that would do cartwheels sometimes. She was around 30 iirc and mainly did it because people would question her ability to do cartwheels
I blame government for not providing infrastructure.
I do actually randomly cartwheel, just to make sure I still can. I'm going on 60. Hopefully will be able to cartwheel for a long time more. It's a funny trick when little kids are doing it and I do one with them, too.
You're living the dream for all of us who don't, and giving me hope that there's time to get into cartwheeling again.
I simply can't cartwheel anymore in my middle aged body hahaha
I am happy to report as a 50+ dude I still do cartwheels on occasion. I've done a few in the last couple months even. If kids are around we just might get in a cartwheel competition. If I'm walking someplace with a long hallway, a cartwheel calls. They always make people happier at a hospital. Do more cartwheels!
If I'm walking someplace with a long hallway
There's a maintenance tunnel that runs between a couple of buildings where I work, housing a bunch of pipes for the boiler system. It's probably 15ft wide, about 500ft of smooth concrete, with the two ends angled down towards a drain in the middle.
Every single time I'm in that tunnel, I wish I had a skateboard... I haven't been on a skateboard in 30 years... One day I'm going to break a hip in that tunnel, get fired, and lose my health insurance but it will be awesome, and I'll have the biggest smile on my face the whole time!
Haha this made me smile!
I’ll be real honest here….I don’t think I ever cartwheeled as a child either
But I’ll get a few more whimsical twirls in when I wear dresses now! Thanks for the inspiration!
Twirls with dresses are full of whimsy and beautiful... please keep it up! It always makes people smile!
I wish I could spin until I was dizzy with kids too, but alas that's been a sure way to get myself sick all my adult years.
As a guy who weighs way to much these days, I for some reason am foolish enough to think my arms will be fine but I'd still somehow break my hip.
In reality I'd probably just faceplant or break my neck lol.
How'd he go out? That fucker tried whimsy at 36 without even trying to get in shape first
Not that I go to them, but gyms could have a space with mats and a spotter for this kind of thing.
Honestly this. I will hurt myself sleeping with my head tilted 5 degrees the wrong direction. I will 100% hurt myself if my head is near the ground and my legs are in the air.
when i was a little boy
girls did cartwheels.
When i was a little boy, little girls did cartwheels. Now that I'm a man, little girls still do cartwheels. I don't think anything changed.
The real reason though is simple:
When you are younger, your center of balance is way more core and your arms/legs weigh a lot less.
As you grow your limbs become way heavier.
Think about how easy it is to pick up a 7 year old vs a 30 year old.
Well, when you do a cartwheel, you are also having to move the body of a grown adult, your own body that is.
So its possible if you are very fit, of course.
But for an average person, good luck haha.
General rule of thumb is that a cartwheel is similiar to a pull up.
Remember how easy pull-ups were when you were a kid? Same principle.
I don’t think this is correct.
I’m a middle aged man in poor overall shape but I can still do cartwheels.
I’ve never been able to do a pull up.
Cartwheels don’t require much strength. You aren’t on your arms for very long and don’t actually further extend your arms during the period when they’re touching the ground.
What cartwheels do require is coordination, flexibility, and balance.
… and practice. Lots of practice.
If I had to guess for most people the limiting factor as you age would probably be flexibility.
That’s assuming you knew how to do them when you were young. I learned it in my mid twenties, but would not envy someone trying to learn it in their mid forties or later.
And in my case, I can easily do a pull-up but couldn't do a cartwheel to save my life.
It's the lots of practice part
Lots of practice means lots of failure on the way.
Failure to do a cartwheel at 10 means trying again. Failure to do a cartwheel at advanced ages means a week of pain.
Hand, hand, foot, foot. I still can & I'm barely even middle aged anymore. It's mostly momentum.
The patriarchy is allergic to whimsy
the matriarchy more maybe
*me climbing up a high ledge as a kid, precariously balancing on the edge of a precipice*
Mum: "GET DOWN FROM THERE NOW! NOWW!"
Dad: *sips beer and says nothing*
Dad: "try not to die today"
I'm also allergic to patriarchy
This was absolutely not a girls only thing when I grew up. Most kids did it, it was only the few overweight and with bad coordination ones who didn't.
Ok, no reason to call me out specifically. I tried it, okay!? I landed on my face and broke a tooth. I still have trouble being upside down without thinking about that day.
society IS fucked up
Maybe they learned more about how gross the ground is. Easier to do it as a kid when you’re not thinking about the amount of dried dog (or human) piss that might be there.
Remember the time Italians thought a cartwheel was enough evidence for murder? Pepridge farm remembers.
What?
amanda knox
I mean... I saw a policeman do a cartwheel today.
