and of course he's a conservative

I was honestly hoping it wouldn't be a con just so I wouldn't feel so justified in shitting on them all the time

[-] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 20 points 15 hours ago

Do we really need the position open if all they are doing is reporting on what the magic 8-ball showed them? We could pay minimum wage to some teen and save a big chunk of that wage money those politicians get too much of.

Not a prompt, it's the part of a conversational AI's response that isn't the requested content. A kind of framing, header or footer.

"I can't write a cohesive argument on why I am intuitively against this idea so let me ask AI to do it instead"

[-] undefined@lemmy.hogru.ch 68 points 23 hours ago

Can we talk about him powering through like nothing happened? I can’t figure out if he’s just a robot that has no concept of what he just read out loud or he’s hoping no one noticed.

What do you mean? We have always been at war with Eastasia

[-] AlteredEgo@lemmy.ml 10 points 15 hours ago

You are correct, we have always been at war with Eurasia.

[-] T156@lemmy.world 40 points 22 hours ago

That's the standard practice for speeches, where you just power through any mistakes you make while speaking and keep going.

Stopping, or going back to correct the mistake would interrupt the speech more than the mistake did.

[-] undefined@lemmy.hogru.ch 6 points 22 hours ago

Yeah that makes sense. It was just weird to see I guess.

[-] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago

They're just robots when they're giving speeches.

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 12 points 22 hours ago

politicians basically just read like AI verbatim anyways.

This is the way.

[-] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 158 points 1 day ago

If you use AI to write your speeches, you clearly have not bothered to study the issue at hand and are therefore not qualified to be representing your constituents on said issue.

[-] aeiou@piefed.social 4 points 15 hours ago

Not like they wrote them before, it's just the fleshy staffers they had for the task are out of a job now.

I think it's safe to assume 99% of the geriatrics aren't fit to be representatives.

[-] sundray@lemmus.org 18 points 23 hours ago

Once again, we see AI being embraced by the lazy, the sloppy, and those allergic to effort.

I’m still waiting for the day when a politician reads: “As an AI model, I don’t have an opinion on this topic, but here’s a convincing speech on…”

Reminds me of the "I'm a black gay guy" tweet

Edit quote and add context

[-] nkat2112@sh.itjust.works 32 points 1 day ago

For real - this one remains unforgettable. Thank you.

[-] TranquilTurbulence@lemmy.zip 8 points 22 hours ago

LOL. What a glorious quote. Goes to show why you shouldn’t be using short form microblogging services for a serious purpose like that.

Maybe just write a normal blog post about it and share the link on xitter? Nah, just paste and post. It’ll be fine…

[-] shani66@ani.social 1 points 3 hours ago

You know that's not what was happening, right? The chud thought he logged into a different account and was trying to astroturf. Conservatives do this all the time

[-] habitualcynic@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago

Can’t these old ass geezers just die already?

[-] one_old_coder@piefed.social 105 points 1 day ago

Politicians deserve some prison for making fun of democracy by using AI like that.

[-] CoolSouthpaw@lemmy.world 11 points 23 hours ago

Dumbass. Fire this scrub now.

Ron, why did you say that? Why? Why, Ron, why? You were my hero, Ron. You come out with... stink like that. Poop... you poopmouth.

[-] Nastybutler@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago

I'm sorry, we were looking for "Dammit! Who typed a question mark on the Teleprompter? For the last time, anything you put on that prompter, Burgundy will read!"

He's a conservative. My expectations weren't high.

[-] ZC3rr0r@piefed.ca 12 points 1 day ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

Unrelated to the topic at hand, but man, have his politics ruined this show for me harder than the terrible acting.

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 5 points 22 hours ago

he had a series of strokes during a chiro adjustment, which made him CRAY cray, and it just unmased his jealousy for xena. he even had his own show, andromeda, he ruined thar too.

"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.
