When the “woke” mania swept the country in 2020, I took a step back and reevaluated where I stood and why I stood there. To my surprise, I found that I agreed with conservatives and libertarians on a number of issues. I opposed childhood gender transitions, unlawful and divisive DEI mandates, and the excesses of Critical Race Theory. I argued against biological males competing in women’s sports and being housed in women’s prisons. I did so loudly and publicly, losing many friends along the way. My stance wasn’t rooted in hate or fear but in a commitment to reason and fairness. My loyalty was to the truth, not to political tribes. Maintaining my integrity cost me greatly, but I believed it was worth it.

"My stance wasn't rooted in hate or fear..."

Bullshit. Fuck you

If you read her drivel its clear she's still a hateful cunt she just wants sympathy from the people she turned her back on.

I say again...

FUCK YOU BITCH

[-] cavitationfetishist2@quokk.au 37 points 5 days ago

Which I certainly won't be doing and you shouldn't either.

[-] Blibly@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

She would try though because I'm transfem and pass better than her lol

*Downvote me all ya want I'm pretty and i know it. If you don't think at least some of this person's hatred of trans people is jealousy you're lying to yourself

This woman is talking herself up. Better put her back in her place

[-] cavitationfetishist2@quokk.au 30 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Hey. Let's not be assholes about who passes as what. Everybody has bad days, seeing her scales under the human skin suit isn't a reason to be a bigot and turn off her heat rock.

“I stupidly, and wholeheartedly bought into Conservative media talking points. While I still hold these nonsensical positions, I don’t like that the bigots I aligned myself with me were honest in their hatred of me and those like me. You should feel sorry for me.”

FTFY. Also, fuck off.

This has been the most maddening thing about it; it's just whole-hearted willful ignorance. NO ONE is doing gender conversions on kids. I guess if you want to make the argument that hormones are thrown around as teenagers, sure, but teenagers get on birth control, there are plenty of legitimate hormone therapies done already.

I've had decent progress with some more conservative, non-religious family members on the "indoctrination" shit by likening it to religion. No rules on what wild shit religion can do; promising you to an older man, severing social ties, and putting you in a situation where you don't know you're being abused. No crackdowns, no vehement marches, no violence over that. But an adult family and their near-adult child can't make medical decisions with oversight from a medical professional? It's absolute, willful ignorance at best.

[-] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 105 points 5 days ago

They're not turning on you, they were always against you, you were just too dumb to see it

[-] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 37 points 4 days ago

The fact that she's allowed to vote, choose who she married or not, and is allowed to date women is the woke wave she must hate

[-] zurohki@aussie.zone 25 points 4 days ago

I dunno - progressive where it benefits her and fuck everyone else is a pretty typical conservative stance.

[-] Ariselas@piefed.ca 11 points 4 days ago

TERFs aint that bright

When the “woke” mania swept the country in 2020,

Eyeroll. Can already tell this person is an idiot.

[-] Madrigal@lemmy.world 39 points 5 days ago

Zero critical thinking skill.

Their hate for black and trans people was so great they teamed up with the people who want to kill them.

[-] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 65 points 5 days ago

Yet, the implications are deeply troubling. We could return to a system where some states honor same-sex marriages, while others don’t — a legal patchwork that could severely constrain LGBT rights and upend the decades of work leading up to Obergefell. As a 29-year-old lesbian engaged to be married, this turn of events is personal for me. And it may be one I helped contribute to.

"It wasn't important until it affected me!"

The author of this article is Reid Newton. She is a gullible idiot and apparently needs to earn her rights to know their value. She has no reverence for value or the struggle and work of those before her to accomplish recognition.

[-] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 59 points 4 days ago

Summary:

"I am stupid. In fact, i am so stupid that when bad staff happens as a result of my decisions I perceive it as a betrayal on the part of others and the universe instead of the predictable result of my actions. That way I can ensure that I never stop being stupid."

[-] doomchapel666@lemmy.zip 60 points 4 days ago

"Ultimately, I don’t regret my decision. I worked toward what I believed — and still believe — to be true. I still oppose radical gender ideology and Critical Race Theory in schools. I still believe that biological males shouldn’t compete in women’s sports or be housed in women’s prisons. But I will not stand by while LGBT rights are legislated away."

oh brother

[-] die444die@sh.itjust.works 40 points 4 days ago

So racist and transphobic. Typical conservative.

[-] SCmSTR 12 points 4 days ago

and self inflicting! ~

[-] immutable@lemmy.zip 34 points 4 days ago

Yoy see critical race theory would help explain the struggles of others, so obviously that’s bad. Now the authors personal struggles, those need to be addressed.

Perfect logical sense

[-] monkeyslikebananas2@lemmy.world 24 points 4 days ago

Does she know what the T in LGBT stands for?

[-] EggInDisguise 20 points 4 days ago

Too many in the L and G portions seem to think conservatives actually care about them, and as such are very vocal about "without the T", and in my experience completely dismiss the Bs as "haven't figured out which one they want and therefore B doesn't exist"

So in other words "it's not me so I don't care"

[-] prole 5 points 4 days ago

Insane that she has the gall to include the "T" in there

[-] Zirconium@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago

"I may lose my right to marry my fiance but its a chance Im willing to take"

No, lesbians did not join forces with conservatives. You keep telling yourself that, because otherwise you have to admit you are an absolute monster of a human being.

Being a lesbian does not excuse you from being evil.

[-] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

the excesses of Critical Race Theory

Lol. Fuck off.

My stance wasn’t rooted in hate or fear but in a commitment to reason and fairness. My loyalty was to the truth, not to political tribes.

Keep telling yourself that.

[-] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 29 points 4 days ago
[-] ConstableJelly@piefed.social 47 points 4 days ago

Conservatives can either stand for freedom, or they can stand for oppression — but they cannot do both. If they truly value individual liberty, they should defend our right to marry. If they turn on us now, they reveal who they really are.

Trump won in 2024 in part due to the left’s overreach. If the right continues down this path, they could meet a similar fate in future elections. As more people come out as LGBT, and as more LGBT people voice concerns with far-left activist orthodoxies, Republicans should be broadening the tent, not excluding these people and pushing them away. Hemorrhaging potential voters to get your druthers isn’t a winning political strategy. The pendulum from hell will just keep swinging back and forth until we all decide we’ve had enough.

"I stood with the Leopard's Eating People's Faces Party, but now that they're trying to eat my face, I call on the Leopard's to do better, and eat only the faces that reason and fairness dictate should be eaten."

That's not the lesson, Reid, you learned it wrong again!

[-] DupaCycki@lemmy.world 16 points 4 days ago

"Jews like me joined forces with the Nazis and now we're dead" ahh situation

[-] k0e3@lemmy.ca 49 points 5 days ago

All those points she mentions are fake outrage by "conservatives". They're made to make you think, "yeah, I can see their point," but anyone with a working brain can see that deeper down, there's so much hatred toward anyone that these "conservatives" consider to be inferior. So even if the author agrees with those points, she's trash to them because she is a woman.

...Oh and being a woman who likes women doesn't help either.

[-] MushuChupacabra@piefed.world 42 points 5 days ago

Two in the thoughts, one in the prayers you fucking TERF.

[-] Ryanmiller70@lemmy.zip 17 points 4 days ago

Well yeah they hate gays and women so of course they're gonna REALLY hate gay women.

[-] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.cafe 38 points 5 days ago

TERF got turfed.

[-] DougPiranha42@lemmy.world 34 points 5 days ago

The common theme about the “issues” listed in the screenshot is that none of them are real, they are all made up by the right wing culture wars, and the only reason that anyone is even aware of them is that Tucker Carson and Alex Jones and their friends spent 10 years faking outrage over them.
If someone bases their vote on culture wars issues, instead of considering what each candidate stands for on real world problems, fuck them. No excuses.

[-] Taco2112@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

This is it exactly. Everything she opposes is essentially a straw-man created by the right. But she uses those straw-men to justify her opinions as being “common sense’.

Perfect example:

It was the most extreme activist voices — those who called lesbians transphobic for only wanting to sleep with women and who prioritized trans women’s feelings over the safety of cisgender women — that I opposed.

[-] spectrums_coherence@piefed.social 14 points 4 days ago

I really want to know where are these DEI mandates, have anyone ever heard about these "DEI" hiring mandates?

[-] CMLVI@lemmy.world 18 points 4 days ago

Yeah, it got a dead senator's sister appointed to replace him with absolutely no experience.

[-] AA5B@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

I’ve had this discussion with my conservative brother

Me: my company has diversity programs to reach a wider pool of applicants and to help people with historical disadvantages fulfill their potential. The best manager I ever had, had a little help overcoming language and confidence barriers, and i was happy to follow her to multiple companies

Him: they keep bringing in these managers solely by their gender or skin color and never promote engineers. They made us take this one employee who is completely unqualified and we have to do her work

He buys that there’s a harmful dei mandate that prevent qualified people from succeeding. You can imagine there’s some resentment there. However it’s easier to explain as normal large company bs, and only knowing part of the story

[-] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Your bro clearly doesn't realize that he got his job through reverse DEI which is the default.

He will never realize this while immersed in the hegemonic narrative.

Who would have thought the people affiliated with the party that wants to turn the country into a white, straight, Christian theocratic ethnostate would turn against lesbians? I am shocked.

  1. The mods are fallible; if you've been banned or had a post/comment removed, please appeal.
  2. Off-topic posts will be removed. If you don't know what "Leopards ate my Face" is, try reading this post.
  3. If the reason your post meets Rule 1 isn't in the source, you must add a source in the post body (not the comments) to explain this. If the reason is in the source but is tedious to find (e.g. in a lengthy video), you must add an explanation for where it is.
  4. Posts should use high-quality sources (for a rough idea, check out this list), and posts should retain the title (if one exists) from works like news articles, videos, etc. You may (but need not) edit your post if the source changes the title. (If you're only using an excerpt from an article that's otherwise not about LAMF, you can use the quote in the title.) Other types of posts should have a title which accurately, relatively neutrally describes their contents.
