I bet President Camacho didn’t fuck kids

[-] just2look@lemmy.zip 122 points 4 days ago

President Camacho also put the smartest person he could find in charge of fixing problems.

[-] becausechemistry@piefed.social 38 points 4 days ago

Instead of firing all the ones he was legally allowed to (and firing many others that he was not)

[-] Slovene85@sh.itjust.works 12 points 4 days ago

" 'I have fired the horse catcher'

  • the horse"
  • John Mulaney
[-] FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world 18 points 4 days ago

Especially not his own daughter

Well, the one he can remember anyway

[-] _stranger_@lemmy.world 41 points 4 days ago

Camacho would make a far better president. He actually appointed the smartest man alive to fix things.

[-] SirEDCaLot@lemmy.today 16 points 3 days ago

Camacho was a GREAT President. Actually paid attention to the fact that his people were starving / running out of burrito coverings, found someone smarter than him to fix a problem he didn't understand, and gave that person the authority to implement a solution without micromanaging.

But there's the other side of it too, that usually get ignored.

Camacho also showed that when someone jerks him around and wrecks the world economy, he will happily send them for 'rehabilitation'. I think there's a lot of people in our government and business world that could use some 'rehabilitation'.

Sometimes a president needs to throw hands.

I would even go as far as to say he was the ideal president. He brought in experts and let them do their thing and had the charisma to keep his nation together and inspire people.

[-] ragas@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 days ago

To be fair Trump did the same thing. Only that for some reason he thought Musk was the smartest man alive and fixing things means something entirely different in Trumps world.

[-] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 19 points 4 days ago

He totally trashed the place. Fitting.

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmings.world 3 points 3 days ago

The guy gets a beautiful home to live in rent-free, and he trashes it. I hope he never gets funding for that stupid ballroom, and he has to spend his entire presidency staring out at a giant muddy hole of his own making, like the ghetto slumlord he is at his core.

[-] BeardededSquidward 6 points 3 days ago

This is a perfect depiction of the USA as it has been for my entire life. There's a nice house over there, that they do things you're not invited to. Then there's where the rest of us live that's torn down and worn down.

Used to think Idiocracy was dystopian. Turns out it's the utopian version of events.

[-] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 12 points 4 days ago

"Welcome to Costco, I love you" does sound pretty good right now.

[-] Strider@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Also a better version of Starbucks

[-] Sharkticon@lemmy.zip 13 points 3 days ago

Idiocracy was so much more benign. I wish it was idiocracy.

[-] MrJameGumb@lemmy.world 53 points 4 days ago

Sometimes I think Trump watched Idiocracy and thought it was an instructional video

[-] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 41 points 4 days ago

Hey! Whoa! C'mon now! That's totally unfair to say!!!

......trump would never take advice from a movie where a muscular black man is president.

Idiocy would make for a utopia compared to what we're stuck with, which is malice. The future we're building is much darker than the one depicted in Idiocracy.

[-] Wispy2891@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

Even the bots can't believe it

gemini dismisses it as a fake without checking

gemini can't believe it

[-] drath@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Say that it's wrong once more and see if it flips the answer again.

[-] Wispy2891@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Once it got the source of "truth" from the web search (they scrape the first few results, meaning some black hat with SEO can let them believe anything), it's impossibile to let it change opinion

But the first answer is almost always a lie, because it costs money to actually search and scrape so they penny pinch and give a false but convincing information

[-] Rhaedas@fedia.io 29 points 4 days ago

Once they recognize that there is are problems and then find the smartest people in the world to solve them, we can compare it to Idiocracy. So far they've done the opposite - made problems worse, create new problems, and got rid of the smart people trying to work on it.

Ideocracy: People don't have the mental capacity to see what's wrong. The ruling elite is just stupid.
Current timeline: People know exactly what's wrong and are captured in a system spiraling to the bottom. The ruling elite does the wrong thing on purpose because of expected personal gains.

This is not Ideocracy. It's oligarchy.

[-] Zier@fedia.io 25 points 4 days ago

You know all those dystopian movies that feature evil people watching the lower classes fighting in a large public ring for pure violent pleasure? We are now in all those movies merged into one badly written featureless film. Can someone find the remote and hit the off button please.

[-] tempest@lemmy.ca 6 points 4 days ago

Needs more marvel style quips

[-] MyBrainHurts@piefed.ca 7 points 4 days ago

I mean, Talarico responding to Paxton calling him a vegan was pretty great: "I'm an eighth generation Texan, I’ve been eating barbecue since before Ken Paxton’s first indictment."

Idiocracy was optimistic.

[-] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 8 points 3 days ago

They blew right past idiocracy a long time ago.

[-] ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.world 25 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

These people are shallow and depravedly hedonistic, sure, but not "simple". They're not mentally handicapped, they have chosen, every day of their lives, to be cunts. To be evil. To care only about themselves because it's the core and only commandment of Western civ: no matter the consequences, get the bag/fuck you, I got mine. American society as a whole might be shockingly stupid and resemble the folks in Idiocracy, but the leaders aren't, they're just very very very evil people, and that's a matter of personal choice.

[-] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 19 points 4 days ago

I remember 30+ years ago telling my parents "Everyone at school is a moron. I'm surrounded by morons all day long!!!"

They tried telling me it was all in my head. I now realize that my parents are ALSO morons.

I mean, not the kind that voted for trump.....but the simple kind. The kind that orders something from amazon, package claims delivered but it's not, then suddenly the neighbor has the same thing they bought and is missing. Multiple times. Yet they refuse to believe that their neighbor is an asshole.

So I waited until they went on vacation, put an amazon box on their porch, which was actually a glitter stink bomb.

Neighbor stole it, got pissed off, and tried going to my parents door to complain to them about it. Except they weren't even in the country.

NOW they believe me when I tell them the obvious, that their neighbor is a theif, and that they need porch cameras.

But again, my parents are morons. So instead of a self hosted option, they went with ring cam.

Yes. I know. I already know all about the privacy issues. They don't believe me.

The only part where Idiocracy was wrong is the heritability of IQ.

The Media: "He's just Plain Folks! The common man's entertainment at the Royal Palace!"

[-] merc@sh.itjust.works 6 points 4 days ago

If you're going to put a word in quotes, you should at least learn to spell that word. It's "Octagon", not "Octogon".

UFC is better at spelling than OP. Idiocracy indeed.

"Go away! 'batin!"

It's so frustrating as an mma fan of 20+ years that this is happening. Absolutely radioactive and poisonous administration. Imagine how shitty you have to be to make this sport (which I love) look worse.

[-] db2@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

They're WWEing it. It's how they think, how they vote, everything about it is gross.
