Hey, if you add a ! at the start of those, they will turn into working links for people on version 18.

[-] WhatASave@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

I'm on Jerboa and when I click it it asks if I want to open it in Gmail or Outlook lol. Still working out kinks!

[-] MentalEdge@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 year ago

It's better than the alternative, atm Jerboa crashes when you try to give it relative links... Open links to communities in is gonna need some updates.

[-] dandroid@dandroid.app 4 points 1 year ago

For me (Lemmy version 0.18.0, Jerboa version 0.35), it follows the links, but gets all fucky. The header is correct for the community, but the posts are all from my default homepage (subscribed communities, sorted by hot). And if I click and posts, the app crashes.

Formatted for easy navigation once your instance has upgraded to the current version. Clicking the link should take you to a version of the community linked from your instance. Feel free to comment with any broken links you know the answer to.

General Discussion is the display name, that wont work, actual name is !general@lemmy.world

The rest work, but lemmy community names never have capital letters. (Kbin mags can tho)

[-] baconeater@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

Yes but you can't edit other people's posts...

Just thought I'd add that I've found startrek@startrek.website to be great and quite active

It's run by the r/startrek and r/daystrominstitute mods.

I like !dota2@lemmy.world. It has a lot of posts with really high quality and there's lots of discussions happening in the comments.

I wish 😭 I'm so alone

I like !foss@beehaw.org people there have good recommandations.

[-] briongloid@aussie.zone 7 points 1 year ago
[-] Erk@cdda.social 5 points 1 year ago

Oh hey cool, it looks like jerboa fixed those kind of links now! I can subscribe to your recommendations!

[-] briongloid@aussie.zone 5 points 1 year ago

Lemmy 0.18 was a good update, made communities easier to link, next is posts/comment native linking.

[-] Erk@cdda.social 3 points 1 year ago

Ah yes some of this is definitely Lemmy rather than jerboa, jerboa just stopped a ctd bug stopping certain links so it became a double whammy of goodness.

[-] briongloid@aussie.zone 3 points 1 year ago

Tbh, I felt Jerboa 0.35 was a step back, it no longer applies my profile default sorting on boot.

[-] Erk@cdda.social 2 points 1 year ago

I hadn't noticed that, but almost every change I've found in it is a huge improvement. Like being able to follow community links without a ctd.

I'm completely biased, but !bicycles@lemmy.ca has been very decently active!

[-] t0fr@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago

Be biased! I've already joined and have been getting back into cycling this year

It wouldn't be a replacement for that other site without:

(those last two have posts with megalists of related communities too, for gamedev and crafts respectively, check them out if you're interested in either topic)

[-] Candelestine@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

https://lemmy.world/c/videoessays

It's not super active yet, but it's growing. Mainly I just like having a place to drop interesting video essays.

[-] t0fr@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 year ago

Thanks. Yeah I went, joined, and posted a video. That place should really be filled with more of Technology Connections

Nothing specific but swapping to Lemmy I realized that it was a lot of big subs but not smaller video game subs :( so I guess in general if there are games you play, go be active in those communities!

disclaimer: im biased since i created that community

[-] rm_dash_r_star@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

I'm liking all the ones I'm subscribed to right now, can't really nail down a favorite. Get a wide array of topics here, I was really pidgeon holed before because I'd get overloaded.

I really like our little boardgame community over at !boardgames@feddit.de

(Of course I am biased)

[-] t0fr@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago

You can be biased and promote. I'm already subbed there and have participated. Board games have been so much fun. I need to have people over to play some Wingspan again. And to play some of the Unstable Unicorn games that I haven't tried yet

Another star trek fan I see. That community is really kicking off out of everything I've seen

Ehh, old hold off judgment for now. There are some serious concerns about over moderation. I was banned recently for trying to discuss community standards when after making a post from a clickbaity site. Took out someone else too who agreed with me on a different community
