I wanted to get this update out... As I believe the top bar is entirely more usable than the sidebar. It is of basic functionality and works nicely. Next release will allow you to pin favorite communities to the top bar (shown when you are not searching for a community).

Also, exciting news, we are beginning to explore adding LemmyTools functionality to the "Instance Assistant for kbin & lemmy!" by cynber browser addon found: https://github.com/cynber/lemmy-instance-assistant & !instance_assistant@lemmy.ca.

For now, I will keep the updates for the UserScript version of LemmyTools as is while integration into the addon is being worked.

I am having a lot going on in my personal life so that is why updates are a bit slower. Thank you to cwagner for making the lovely user tagger feature as of last release as that is a nifty feature.

Please feel free to tell me what you think about everything.

.

.

.

.

Installation and Configuration:

1 - Browser must have a Userscript addon (Tampermonkey, Greasemonkey, Etc…). Tested with Greasemonkey.

2 - Download either the .JS file or install from greasyfork.

3 - Set home lemmy instance via options page once script is loaded (and manually edit the homeInstance variable in script for all functionality)

This script is all done by a complete amateur for fun. Enjoy and feel free to fork it!

Get it here: Github or GreasyFork

Please submit issues to the github for feature requests and problems: Github LemmyTools Issues

Lemmy is my new ~~addiction~~ friend!

I honestly was worried about our growth maybe 3 weeks ago... It seemed there was a boom and then sort of an exhale after that initial rush in early June. However I'm subbed to about 130 communities. My feed is nice and busy where I couldn't even chance to see all the content. I can look through my sub list (LemmyTools addon plug) and catch up on some comms I missed in my feed. It's going great now as we are seeing steadily more upvoted posts (in the ks) now. Memes are off the charts. Tech and News seems to be hot. Im not super stitious well, maybe a little situous but I think things are going well and seeing a good base here form.

There will need to be some sort of stale/abandoned community cleanup or filter eventually though.

Just wanted to open the floor for chit chat, introductions, etc! Maybe make this a weekly post :)

Made some real progress on this. Still want to add a few features before releasing. I am liking this better than the sidebar already. Namely want to add the customizable personal list you can drag/drop communities to to "pin" them to the bar. New options icon too. Still some to do but the functionality is very nice and is coming along. Still styling to do... etc..

Just thought I'd share. I am having a whole lot going on in personal life right now so it may be a few days before I can get this out. Maybe not, just depends :)

Just wanted to share

LemmyTools 0.2.0.5 is released! I believe this is the most functional release yet mainly due to some fantastic contributions from other folks on github who are definitely better programmers than I am! I just want to personally say thank you to:

  • @cwagner@lemmy.cwagner.me - For coding, code cleanup, and mentoring.
  • Charles Machalow - csm10495 - Coding contribution(s).
  • jimmyhiggs337 - Coding contribution(s).

I am happy to say that the image expansion, and "show all" functionality is much more reliable and customizable now.

More improvements/features are being developed. Please check back often and check updates at least every day. Please create a ticket on github or message me with your issues, thoughts and feature requests.

Also, if anyone is able to message me about beginning to start moving this UserScript to a browser addon please see this post.

Installation and Configuration:

I'm having such a hard time finding adderral at pharmacies around me. Is there any alternatives that still work well for you? I'm about to have a follow up with my doctor. Might ask about alternatives. I'm on 20mg adderral XR.

I am committed to federated services from here on out. I am personally really liking lemmy... There are some minor annoyances but nothing major. The mobile browsing experiences makes me pretty cozy. With the dark theme it's not too far from rif. Apps and plugins are coming that will make it that next special thing. Like I couldn't imagine aliensite without old and res. It's coming... I'm loving it.

[-] howdy@thesimplecorner.org 26 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Hello from my personal lemmy instance. ;)

[-] howdy@thesimplecorner.org 25 points 1 year ago

Yeah one way federation while still providing content doesn't feel too good. Defederate would make sense. Purge Beehaws content from the database (admins can do that directly with the postgres I assume). If they decide to open up in the future then just refederate. Will be all good. Beehaw is trying to have a specific style of community so they are doing what is best for them. That's the flexibility of this framework.

Conservatives... more like contrarians.

Absolutely incredible to see. Very happy that one of biggest subs called reddits bluff. Which I believe is where we are. Reddit thinks the users that actually care about 3rd party apps will move on at this point and reddit will have the everyone else switch to their apps with no more of a thought than swiping up to the next tik tok video. I'm deleting my last account on Reddit now in solidarity. Lemmy and the fediverse feels nice. I am in near complete control of my data running my own instance while still being able to interact with literally everyone I want and don't want. My ublock isn't blocking a single thing, no trackers, no more being a commodity. Already fine communities are springing up with thoughtful moderation, rules and inclusivity.

I am super excited about what is happening here.
