To equate trans girls with guys being 'gay' is to totally and completely fail to accept trans girls as girls.

Broke: dating trans girls is gay for him

Woke: dating trans girls is gay for me

Assuming you are a trans girl or girl (I repeat myself), that's true.

[-] VeniVerminiVomui@lemmy.ml 21 points 1 day ago

The flag and closet arrow imply that the person agreeing is also a trans girl - just not one who had previously revealed it to the person they're talking to. So by agreeing it's gay they're saying it's gay because it's two women in love. Unless you're saying gay only applies to 2 men in love and not 2 women in love.

There's 2 flags on her body, a trans flag and a lesbian flag. It's explicitly stating that she's a trans woman who is into women.

If they're trans and know they're trans, they're not an egg.

I mean, I still consider the period of "I recognize I'm not cis" to "being able to say out loud 'I'm trans'" to be in my "egg phase". Like, there was a pretty decent period where I recognized that I was doing not-cis things and was pretty involved in trans culture, but struggled to say "I'm trans".

[-] LurkingLuddite@piefed.social 1 points 13 hours ago

They're not just finally saying it out loud, though. The whole extra step of outright saying, "I'm gay" in response to being attracted to the same sex as your trans identity, especially when stated flippantly, is heavily implying that they've already thought it through.

They're not going, "hmm food for thought". They're just going, "yep, gay".

I had to stop and think about this for a minute. The speech bubble says they like girls and it implies the person is an egg, so wouldn't it be gay because it is a girl saying they like girls? I am missing something that the rest of you are seeing.

[-] LurkingLuddite@piefed.social 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

If the person who is liking a trans person is also trans (and not open to themselves about it), then they're an egg. Though the mere act of liking a trans girl is not egg material, IMO.

Implying they're an egg by the mere attraction to a trans girl is dismissing 'normal' attraction to trans girls, IMO. That's definitely not good. You shouldn't have to be trans and/or gay to like a trans girl. Period.

Them saying, "yes I'm gay" in response is either a complete dismissal of the above, or an open admission to being trans/non-binary/etc, which is distinctly not "egg" material.

So, it is mostly the appearance in egg_irl that is the problem with the comic: There is no egg pictured.

[-] Sas@piefed.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 day ago

The comic has literally a trans and lesbian flag on the right person and says she's still in the closet. The dude on the left doesn't know his friend is a girl but his friends talks from the perspective of one despite still being in the closet. That's why the dude is confused and why the comic is recognising trans women as women.

[-] LurkingLuddite@piefed.social 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Again, it's showing an open admittance. Is an "egg" not a person that is wrestling themselves with the idea of being trans? If they know they're trans, they're not an egg.

I also never said the comic is dismissing any trans identity.

If the person is a "dude" as you say, you are the one removing their trans identity. So, they're either a trans woman themselves, and not an egg (because they are aware and openly admitting it, even by accident), or it is dismissing the possibility that a straight person can be attracted to a trans woman.

[-] Shirasho@lemmings.world 1 points 19 hours ago

Ok, I think I am following. The first statement here was also something I overlooked. Thank you for the clarification.

[-] Sas@piefed.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 day ago

I never said the person was an egg and i never said the trans woman was a dude. The dude is the one on the left, as i said

Read more about this decision here.

  3. No Ewwphoria posts. Posts which contain misogyny, misandry, transmisogyny, transmisandry, or enbyphobia for the purpose of expressing euphoria are not allowed here. At best they bring anger to others, and at worst they may trigger people's dysphoria. People who create such posts will have them removed and may be banned at moderator discretion.

We strongly encourage you to include your pronouns in your account bio so that others know how to refer to you without misgendering you. If you're questioning or unsure of your pronouns, that's totally cool—just say so.
