No one on his crew. What he means to say is they're making a political opposition list and will be treating the people on it like domestic terrorists.

[-] floofloof@lemmy.ca 25 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Well clearly ICE are trying to terrorize legal observers with their threats, gassings, beatings and executions.

[-] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 8 points 4 months ago

"And now the label "domestic terrorist" is rendered meaningless. Congratulations!"

[-] petrol_sniff_king 4 points 4 months ago

I feel like this is a pyrrhic victory.

[-] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 3 points 4 months ago

Some people would rather rule over a heap of ashes...

[-] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 102 points 4 months ago

Putting everybody in the database and declaring them terrorists means the database is no longer useful. The label no longer has meaning. If everyone is a terrorist no one is a terrorist.

[-] chillhelm@lemmy.world 86 points 4 months ago

It opens the door for arbitrary enforcement. In the theoretical world where these guys may have to justify themselves in a court of law, they can say "he was in the domestic terrorist database, so we were justified in pinning him down with 5 guys while another guy shot him in the back after disarming him."

[-] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 37 points 4 months ago

This is correct.

They are criminalizing as many people as possible.

[-] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 11 points 4 months ago

-writes “Trump” on a napkin-

“Trump is on the domestic terrorist napkin. Therefore I can do whatever I want to him.”

Well, they're not putting everybody in the database. They're specifically putting anyone they think is against Trump in the database, so that they can eventually round them all up and dispose of anyone who doesn't bow down to him. This isn't an exaggeration, it's literally what he's saying: by opposing ICE, you become an enemy of the state, and we've seen what they do to enemies of the state.

On one of the no kings protests, I saw a group of dudes going to it on bicycles. They had the right idea. No license plates, less data to track.

[-] Bob_Robertson_IX@discuss.tchncs.de 56 points 4 months ago

Bikes, masked and no cell phones. Don't give them anything.

[-] Zirconium@lemmy.world 10 points 4 months ago

Would uncanny valley makeup work? I want to stare at counter protestors

[-] droans@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Dazzle camouflage would probably work better against AI and facial recognition. Highly reflective clothing would probably also work.

The last one, leave your cellphones at home. Don't turn them off, leave them at home. Don't turn them off and bring them. Leave them at home.

Buy ebike/escooter. Drive and park 5-10 miles from where you want to go, and ride the rest of the way in. FLOCK cameras are everyfuckingwhere.

[-] Whostosay@sh.itjust.works 11 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

That should be move number one when gathering, immediately cut all those fuckers down. It should be a weekly occurrence until the cost outweighs putting them back up

SIR YOU ARE RIDING A WEAPON

[-] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 months ago

A lot of us don't mask up for peaceful protests. It hits home better if they see our faces in smaller cities.

If this is what gets people into a database - protesting fascism and filming it - then sign me up. What a fucking honor.

[-] theacharnian@lemmy.ca 86 points 4 months ago

How to radicalize a population 101.

[-] pdxfed@lemmy.world 31 points 4 months ago

Well the world is waiting for the condemnation and outpouring of support from all those rabid free speech and "over my dead body" 2nd amendment right wingers to step forward...

Curiously quiet now? So it's only an amendment that you want to protect your team and that's when it matters? Ahh, then you don't support the constitution nor this country.

[-] sniggleboots@europe.pub 30 points 4 months ago

They're not quiet, they're the ones that joined ICE

[-] discocactus@lemmy.world 11 points 4 months ago

This is what all the armchair Europeans don't get. The 2A right wingers are 100% defending their nation. It just happens to be the Aryan Nation not the USA.

Again, people outside the USA having no understanding of those INSIDE the USA. Those people who shouted civil war, 2nd Amendment, against tyranny, this is THEIR tyranny. This is what THEY want. So they're not saying anything because they're getting what they want. Just there's a lot of liberals coming to light realizing "I should probably be armed" after being anti-gun for so long.

The problem with putting everyone on the domestic terrorist list is that everyone is on the list. Eventually it becomes more suspicious to be not on the list, because it means you're intentionally hiding yourself.

[-] someguy3@lemmy.world 16 points 4 months ago

Only a terrorist would think like that. Listed!

[-] peopleproblems@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago

Fuck that's a good point.

[-] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 47 points 4 months ago
[-] Sprocketfree@sh.itjust.works 26 points 4 months ago

Wait... Isn't this intimidation with use of force to deprive a citizen of their constitutional rights? If that was me I'd be filing a lawsuit tomorrow morning. I'm also confident that doesn't fall under officer immunity either.

[-] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 15 points 4 months ago

You got him dead to rights buddy! Go take him to court so that he can get away scot free!

Trump was charged with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records
Verdict Guilty on all counts
Subsequent action Sentence of unconditional discharge

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prosecution_of_Donald_Trump_in_New_York#Post-trial_proceedings

I am tired of constantly seeing the failure of the US in the news. The good folks at Myanmnar know just to report all their horrible events in one lump sum once a fortnight only.

[-] Sprocketfree@sh.itjust.works 7 points 4 months ago

I'm confused. So your response is do nothing and take it?

That’s laughable a literal lawless state sponsored terrorist group recruiting white nationalist gang members calling civilians who are exercising their constitutional rights “terrorists”

[-] SoleInvictus 5 points 4 months ago

2026 - goose stepping right on into 1984 cosplay!

[-] JargonWagon@lemmy.world 19 points 4 months ago

So does anyone have information on their database? Maybe little Bobby Tables could be added.

[-] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 15 points 4 months ago

What a crazy 180 we've done here... Terrorists as labeled by the feds were the most hated group back in the early 2000's. Now, I guess it's a badge of honor? What a shitty time to be alive.

[-] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 9 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Job interview in 2040: "So, I notice you're not on the database. Why is that?"

[-] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago

When the fed is a terrorist organization, it's not a surprise that the people labeled 'terrorist' by actual terrorists get support.

[-] OctopusNemeses@lemmy.world 14 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

In every single one of these ICE encounter videos they always have one masked goon dedicated to filming everything with professional camera gear. I don't know why that isn't more talked about. Given that big tech is involved in this regime as the benefactor, it should be a much bigger story.

I suppose it's part of their psyop to blindspot people to it. I would not be surprised at this point.

[-] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 12 points 4 months ago

Can't wait for the list to get so long and bloated it's basically meaningless so some ACTUAL terrorist can slip thru the cracks.

[-] m3t00@lemmy.world 9 points 4 months ago

good cover if you happen to be a dt

[-] BanMe@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago

They made that term up anyway tho.

Je suis DTs

[-] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 9 points 4 months ago

so if the justification for ICE/CBP acting like nazis is that people were calling them nazis, does that mean people can start blowing shit up like terrorists?

Everyone is bearing false witness against their neighbours. Biblical days ahead.

[-] RedGreenBlue@lemmy.zip 8 points 4 months ago

Trouble maker list. Handy in every dictator regimes effort to suppress political opposition.

[-] FalschgeldFurkan@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago

Batshit insanity

[-] ZombiFrancis@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 months ago

They said shit to me while spraying and beating me in 2007. They probably can back it up better now with all the tech, but my assumption is that their 'database' is just running the picture through AI and chasing the slop.
