The Deck has been my only gaming PC for a while lol

[-] NanoooK@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 months ago

CK II on steamdeck? How easy is it to navigate the UI?

[-] rarWars 2 points 2 months ago

It takes a bit to figure out a good keybind setup and you have to use the trackpad for a lot of stuff, but it's not too bad overall. It wasn't inconvenient enough for me to grab my bluetooth keyboard at any point at least.

[-] CamelCityCalamity@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Same!

This might change next year, though... I see a Steam Machine in my future.

[-] any1th3r3@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 months ago

How was E33 on the Deck? I didn't play much of it there, I was afraid parries and dodges would be a bit of a nightmare to time perfectly.

[-] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 5 points 2 months ago

It's a lot better after the update a few days ago, but back when I played it I actually installed a performance mod to make it run a lot smoother. I thought it was very playable, but I'm also trash at dodging/parrying consistently. I'm assuming it was more of a skill issue than the game's performance though.

[-] galaxy_nova@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

That’s good, does it still look like shit though? So far it’s been a game I just only play on desktop

[-] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 months ago

There are some video on youtube, it's still kinda blurry but the game is still pretty beautiful imo. Definitely won't look as good as it does on desktop.

[-] zybir@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

Are there a lot of bots and casuals that keep these medians so low or do I need the get outside more?

The only part I want to share is this:

[-] ComfortableRaspberry@feddit.org 2 points 2 months ago

You beast! I just managed to reach 58 days :(

[-] rustyfish@piefed.world 5 points 2 months ago

Hail to the King, baby 😎

[-] Hello_there@fedia.io 1 points 2 months ago

My favorite was all my playtime for 3 months, going thru the initial campaign, then fell off a cliff

[-] Minnels@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 months ago

I don't play that much on the deck but had a couple of days off work because of sick kid so it was a life saver.

[-] Protoknuckles@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago
[-] eodur@piefed.social 5 points 2 months ago

Chained Echoes was just fantastic

[-] Protoknuckles@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

It really is. I've heard good about Sea of Stars, which is on my shortlist.

[-] Prove_your_argument@piefed.social 3 points 2 months ago

Sea of Stars just didn’t click for me. Having a cook fight side by side two trained-for-life combatants was terrible for immersion.

I like my stories to be a bit more gritty too, it feels sanitized.

[-] Jomn@jlai.lu 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Sea of Stars is one of my all time favourite game. I love nearly every aspect of the game.

But I can understand that some aspects of it can aim a specific type of players

[-] ComfortableRaspberry@feddit.org 4 points 2 months ago
[-] paraphrand@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

I didn’t use a keyboard and mouse once.

All controllers or VR controllers.

[-] the16bitgamer@programming.dev 7 points 2 months ago

If I had to guess, the game isn't gamepad optimized i.e. CIV 5, so the game is marked as a keyboard game.

Just shows how well steam input works.

[-] paraphrand@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I guess so! I do use steam input. I bet it’s because I use a PS5 controller with Destiny 2. Even though it’s a Sony game, I don’t get native support.

[-] Ulrich@feddit.org 4 points 2 months ago

Yeah I received similar wrong numbers. I am nearly 100% controller at this point but I got ~25% also.

[-] toomanypancakes@piefed.world 4 points 2 months ago

I only just got a steam deck partway through the year, so that probably skewed the stats some

[-] atotayo@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 months ago

How does windblown compare to dead cells? I haven't heard much of it after launch which is a shame considering how much i liked the first game.

[-] toomanypancakes@piefed.world 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

It's early access and unfinished still of course, but I'm having a lot of fun with it. Coop is an absolute blast, and while they're still tweaking it the combat feels really good, and nothing seems too cheap. Plus, it's adorable. I would definitely recommend, especially if you have a friend or two you can talk into playing with you. There are public lobbies, but not many at the moment that I've seen. I usually just play solo though lol

This, was a busy year. Silksong very much carried my Steam Deck usage.

The math isn't mathing here. (Also I'm not that big of a gamer, clearly.)

Screenshot from the review showing 100% playtime on the Steamdeck and 22% of that playing Slay the Spire.

Screenshot from the review showing Slay the Spire is 77% of the playtime in total.

[-] morgan_423@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

I don't have a problem, I can stop gaming any time I want!

This row of games is 92% of my playtime, there were a bunch of other games from my collection but I only played them briefly here and there.

100% Deck, it's currently my only PC.

[-] stolenfat@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 months ago

man i need to learn how to play BG3 with the controller. I tried it on the deck and the controls melted my brain cause i was too used to mouse and keyboard

[-] morgan_423@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

I have a M & K available, and play docked a fair percentage of the time, but when I'm docked, I still prefer the console controls over M & K for BG3.

Much more streamlined, the intractable UI is not as busy, and the whole game is much cleaner-looking (95% of what you're looking at is the game world when you have no UI elements calledup... whereas the M&K UI are taking up a chunk of screen real estate all the time).

[-] needanke@feddit.org 2 points 2 months ago

Is expedtion 33 playable on deck for you?

[-] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 months ago

Yes, especially after the recent performance update.

[-] AstroLightz@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Quite a diverse selection of games this year. Spent WAY too much time on Steam this year.
