They may just "Weekend at Bernie's" this shit as far as they can take it.

I'm calling it now. If this keeps up, they'll roll out AI-based addresses and propaganda in his image for a while before they have to face the music. The biggest tell is that if they use his voice, it'll be cogent, understandable, and to the point.

[-] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 9 points 12 hours ago

They already tested the water with the med bed AI video where he spoke too clearly. When they got caught they deleted it.

[-] DozensOfDonner@mander.xyz 2 points 11 hours ago

A what bed AI vid? Sorry, EUan here, i missed a few episodes, what happened?

[-] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 hours ago

He promoted a magic bed that cures everything but the evil liberals won't let us have it. RFK Jr has two.

[-] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 6 points 11 hours ago

The unholy intersection of snake-oil medicine, AI, propaganda, qanon, and cult-of-personality politics. As someone living here I'm nauseated, and frankly a little scared, that this even got the green light. It's clearly AI generated, but if you're not paying close attention or are unaware that AI is this good now, it's passable.

I'm honestly curious how long Trump is gonna make it. Realistically he's probably running on a bunch of drugs at this point. No shade here, I assume Biden and maybe even Obama were the same. How do you work that much and not sleep? The answer is drugs!

Even if they are "relaxing" the president has a lot of stress, the job physically ages you. Trump being on a golf course is still probably stressing out even if he doesn't give a shit about the US; whether it's about how his personal investments will work out or about his personal vendettas the job is stressful.

Trump was also severely stressed while out of office due to the pressures of the lawsuits he was under. With 12 years of stress the man may be 79 currently, but he's probably way older physically. I don't see him making it through this term and the only way he's made it this far is drugs and a good pharmacist.

[-] ArmchairAce1944@discuss.online 3 points 3 hours ago

He is a psychopath. Possibly the most psychopathic man to ever be president. He doesn't feel the pain and stress of being president, he thrives on it.

Lincoln would probably have died in his second term if he wasn't assassinated. Have you seen his before and after photos from being in office? He went from being a healthy looking person to being an old man in just 4 years. The stress of being in such a dangerous time for the united states really, really took its toll.

I didn't see that kind of aging in Trump. The guy is such a fucking psychopath that any aging that happened was going to happen anyway.

[-] lipilee@feddit.nl 7 points 16 hours ago

actually, the answer is golfing instead of working :)

[-] ArmchairAce1944@discuss.online 1 points 3 hours ago

Obama was called the golfer in chief by Gerald Celente... and Trump golfed more in his first term than Obama did in two.

[-] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 hours ago

Before 9/11 all Bush did was golf. The country was better off for it.

[-] someguy3@lemmy.world 8 points 21 hours ago

Doesn't stress you out when you don't do anything.

[-] Heikki2@lemmy.world 55 points 1 day ago

Is that why its been so quiet? What a Stroke of luck!

[-] redraven@midwest.social 7 points 1 day ago

I see what you did there. Well played.

[-] Transtronaut 4 points 21 hours ago

Golf joke, right? /s

“Let’s face it, this is a rally,” said the motherfucker to Sailors in their dress uniforms.

[-] FreeMindFreeAss@lemmy.world 59 points 1 day ago

His past few vids were not even very convincing AI, he's barely hangin on. When I was a kid my dad's friends would joke about the decripit soviet leader being strapped to a 2x4 and dragged out for public appearances. Well well well how the tables have turned

[-] ArmchairAce1944@discuss.online 24 points 1 day ago

He was referring to Breznev. In the late 70s he was in terrible health and was hospitalized but no soviet media talked about it. There was a joke that Russia TV was just a ballet channel due to the constant playing of Swan Lake to fill in the time.

[-] FreeMindFreeAss@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

Thanks for the reference, most of that side of the family died in pretty quick succession so these memories are just what my mind can contain. tbh Swan Lake 24/7 might do more to heal our nation than the news onslaught we get. My dad died in '16, about 3 months before Trump got in, and I'm almost happy he didn't have to see it. He was a lifelong republican but he was also a WWII buff, I'd never seen him actually afraid of a politician until then. I've been traveling the world since I was 17, he used to be terrified for me, but during that campaign he started encouraging me to spend more time abroad.

[-] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 51 points 1 day ago

Don’t do this to me again, don’t give me hope.

[-] ArmchairAce1944@discuss.online 9 points 1 day ago

Me too, I am trying to quit alcohol and I would hate to waste a lot of money on expensive alcohol.

Yeah and if the CK thing was any indicator of how it’ll go, the administration will milk it for all it’s worth. It’ll be gross.

[-] Almacca@aussie.zone 92 points 1 day ago

I hope he dies in the stupidest, self-owning way possible, like tripping over his own feet and falling down some stairs. Preferably on camera.

[-] Zink@programming.dev 1 points 2 hours ago

Oh definitely the stairs, since that's the "frail old man" tell that he seems most afraid of. And with nobody anywhere near him, and on a beautiful clear day with no wind and no sun in his eyes.

It has to be clear as day that it was a failure of his body and not foul play or trickery.

Some folks here believe once Trump is dead, his empire will pass onto someone else. I couldn't disagree more. Every time someone tries to do what Trump does, it's a big flop. It will all unravel with him gone. It's called a cult for a reason.

[-] Zink@programming.dev 2 points 2 hours ago

You may be 100% correct, but I would still fear that the corruption soaked deep into our institutions by this bonkers insane second term would enable the fascist train to keep rolling and take us on the rest of the ride we've already started. Everybody around him is appear running the administration.

Maybe if the timing of the passing of the empire is favorable we might have some elections that seem valid maybe?

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 23 points 1 day ago

MAGA is a Cult of Personality, and there is no #2. Plenty of people feel like they are the obvious successor, but NONE of the MAGA followers believe that. They worship Trump, and Trump alone. When he dies, MAGA dies with him.

When he assumes room temperature, the knives are coming out, and the backstabbing will be glorious. All the Dems have to do is stay out of the way.

[-] Colonel_Panic_@eviltoast.org 13 points 1 day ago

It absolutely is a cult of personality. The part that breaks my brain is that his personality is abysmal. Just gross, horrible, mean, rude, hateful, lying, cheating, hurtful. Not even objectively attractive or well spoken. Just babbling hateful drivel. I do not understand how it ever got this big except that he represents all the worst parts of humanity and he gave all the worst people the permission to be the worst version of themselves and that is more appealing than being smart or kind.

And when he does die the cult WILL implode. It already has fractured, but it will shatter into factions and infighting and it will be a big mess and lots of collateral damage. But maybe it will all be finally over. A decade of hearing his bullshit will finally end and maybe his cultists will start to snap out of the trance and be reasonable again.

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 10 points 1 day ago

He got that big because you not only described him, you described the bulk of his followers. A lot of people are just Pigs, and they're proud of it, they think it's a virtue.

It's less about this being a cult, more about it being a cult of personality. Regular cults can continue on, a cult of personality dies when the personality dies.

People think he rambles a lot, but it has a purpose to it. What I'm worried about is that after meeting with the Project 2025 guy, that rambling might be receiving some calibration as well as a long series of other meetings to see if they go a new route.

I don't think he is really that ill simply because JD Vance would have been picking up a lot more of the slack if that were the case to position himself as the new president.

Then there's also the possibility that he is part of the caste of the country that does actually benefit from having no government oversight or presence during a shutdown. It makes people and groups that much more dependent on the private market alternatives these oligarchs own.

Maybe he isn't making any comments because this is where he wants to be right now. He still controls ICE, the execute and the supreme court can still continue reshaping the US, and he's in a point where he has essentially just hit the pause button on any changes in congress until he can decide how to revert and influence that. He's at the point where people who protest the extended shutdown can be incarcerated as the "radical left" "homegrowns" for whom the shutdown helps prevent any recourse as well, he's putting any loyalist he can into ICE and it has a bigger budget than the rest of the military, he's plunging and farming the value of the US economy which he and his oligarch friends can weather and later buy up on the low. It seems like he might have settled for this as a win condition, so he's no longer making appearances to push things into other agendas for now.

States need to step up if the government remains shut down, this is the perfect opportunity and excuse for them.

[-] TheMinister@sh.itjust.works 16 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

You think with trump and his sycophants and handlers would be willingly parading around their younger, hopeful replacement? “Strongmen” will lie and obfuscate the truth because the lie works. Look how long they’ve managed to get his followers to believe he’s just a virile and Uber healthy, fearless leader. They won’t shove the wet mop with eyes that is JD Vance into the role until they absolutely have no other options. Look all throughout history, these types of fascists have to project strength even when it’s clear they’re old, decrepit and on the edge of death.

You make it seem like he has a plan. I see an aged poser pinballing around in a toddler stomp. We may both be close to the truth.

[-] argarath@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

He might not have a plan, but there are people who have and can sell him on doing small simple tasks that rump can actually understand, or at least do, and profit out of

[-] nomy@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 day ago

He might be twiddling his thumbs but I bet the shadowy cabal controlling the right definitely has a plan and a schedule they're working on.

Dump is in a holding pattern.

[-] TheObviousSolution@lemmy.ca 2 points 22 hours ago

Trump's "plan" is too choose whatever is best for him psychotically and amorally. He's not where he is right now because he had a plan, but because as you put it, the path was laid for him. It became clear with the drastic changes and statements he began his administration with. A destination was presented to him, and he's tried to follow the path to it with the indications he has been given. Sometimes, he has even blurted out the "landmarks" prematurely, like his comments on Greenland and Canada.

He's just at a point he realizes he can already exploit, which probably seems like a good option to him since some of the directions he has received aren't working out that well for him.

Handlers keeping him hidden like they did Biden. Dead or alive were still fucked, he's just a cog in the machine that will be replaced to keep the status quo protected and running

[-] WhatGodIsMadeOf@feddit.org 1 points 2 hours ago

Exactly and it is so sad seeing people acting as if traditional political discourse is going to make things better. It's broken completely.
