Btw, Puerto Ricans are US citizens. But don't let that stop them.

Why are racists so dumb?

Is it a bug, or a feature?

Hahaha

The stupe-loop!

[-] BeardedGingerWonder@feddit.uk 9 points 1 day ago

You may have cause and effect the wrong way round.

[-] Geodad@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Not of it's a feature.

[-] pachrist@lemmy.world 117 points 2 days ago

I am, of course, disgusted with this choice of Super Bowl halftime performer.

The obvious choice was to have Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce get married during the Super Bowl halftime, during which Taylor will not take the Kelce name, killing everyone watching over the age of 65.

[-] Stalinwolf@lemmy.ca 66 points 2 days ago

Travis takes the name Swift. Conservative men melt down so badly that one of them goes out and blows Erika Kirk's head off.

[-] Default_Defect@anarchist.nexus 22 points 2 days ago

Then we'd get "he followed Taylor Swift news, so he must have been a trans leftist!!"

[-] pineapplelover@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 2 days ago

Taylor, make this happen

Can we figure out what to make Bad Bunny do to inflict total boomercide?

[-] SethTaylor@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago
[-] pachrist@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

With a Palestinian flag.

[-] Masamune@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago

I am, of course, disgusted with your proposed choice of Super Bowl halftime performer.

The even more obvious choice was to have Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce enter a civil union during the Super Bowl halftime, during which Taylor will not take the Kelce name while also announcing she is 4 months pregnant and the unborn child should be referred to as "they/them", killing nearly 40% of all viewers.

Disgusting that this is who superbowl picked for their halftime show.. Claims to be a bunny, but turns out he's just some human dude. Typical.

[-] MBech@feddit.dk 78 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

So.... would you say he's pretty bad at being a bunny? Like he's a bad bunny?

[-] bilb@lemmy.ml 20 points 2 days ago

The worst bunny I've ever seen!

My favorite is habanero

there's no ñ, just n, but some will make a show of pronouncing it with the incorrect ñ sound.

Even my dumb fucking rural Australian ass knows that Puerto Rico is part of the US.

[-] mitchty@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 1 day ago

As a dum rural American that knows territorial citizenship is a thing (with wonky caveats not applicable to Puerto Rico) you’d be surprised how many Americans in general have zero clue pr is a part of the us. My last vaca there was fun but after I was back the amount of people that asked about passports was too dam high. And this is in a rather educated metro area.

[-] iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 132 points 2 days ago

It's actually impressive how insanely wrong they are.

[-] yarr@feddit.nl 9 points 1 day ago

I love the pattern on the right: "Despite X occurring plenty of times throughout the years on 'my side', this time I'm really riled up about something that's not even true!"

He loves his country so much he wants to defend it from ignorant outsiders, but isn't even aware of who has citizenship and won't explain why this didn't have any bearing on past musical performances.

Intellectual consistency isn't their strong point.

[-] inb4_FoundTheVegan@lemmy.world 81 points 2 days ago

Rhianna is from Barbados? Huh, TIL.

[-] merc@sh.itjust.works 14 points 2 days ago

Hmm, this got me to look up the demonym for people from Barbados. I hoped it would be something interesting, but the official one is pretty boring: Barbadians. But, the unofficial one is a bit interesting: Bajans. I thought it would be pronounced like the Spanish "baja", but apparently it's "Bay - jenz". Which is a bit cool. Not as cool as their flag, but still cool.

[-] DarkDarkHouse@lemmy.sdf.org 10 points 2 days ago

I'm going with Barbadasses

It boggles my mind how many people still don't know PR is part of the US.

[-] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 78 points 2 days ago

The president of Puerto Rico should be removed from office! For good this time!

[-] Brown5500@sh.itjust.works 38 points 2 days ago

Thank you for your attention on this matter

[-] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 27 points 2 days ago

That's always what's happening when they want to use the N-word and remember they shouldn't and then try to say it with other words.

[-] DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works 30 points 2 days ago

The US is trying to reject a part of their own territory as American.

Meanwhile, PRC is trying to claim territory not under the PLA's control as Chinese.

Ironic lol

Puerto Rico should just do a Taiwan tbh. I mean if they aren't treated like Americans, you might as well.

[-] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 43 points 2 days ago

It's upsetting that people can be colossally stupid and factually incorrect and face no meaningful consequences. Like, who is the OP? Why are they just walking around without a warning sign that says like "This person is stupid"?

[-] blah3166@piefed.social 14 points 2 days ago

Nature has a way of warning others, just look for a red hat or American flag

[-] Kazumara@discuss.tchncs.de 17 points 2 days ago

I knew Rhianna is from Barbados, and that British rock bands are generally British. But I had no idea Shakira was Colombian!

[-] ArmchairAce1944@discuss.online 18 points 2 days ago

She is Colombian and half Lebanese, too.

[-] ZoopZeZoop@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago

And that is how she gives 150% at her shows!

(Sorry. Bad dad joke.)

I always find it remarkable how trivial topics can be so successful on every social media platform—yes, even here.

This is basically proof that fascists have already won, because instead of dealing with the important issues—in the US, for example, the unbelievable corruption of the regime, the obvious establishment of a secret police force in the form of ICE, the completely illegal deployment of troops to oppress the population, which is actually very successful (+ many more outrageously important things)—people are focusing their attention on who will perform at the goddamn Super Bowl halftime show—and they even think they're outsmarting the fascists when they point out for the millionth time that their bullshit is just that—utter bullshit.

It's just sad that nothing has changed since Goebbels. The logic is still the same and people continue to fall for it: distraction from what's going on until it's too late—and in the US, it probably already is.

I would be more hopeful if at least the events in the States could serve as a deterrent, but that is obviously absolutely not the case. It's the same all over the world: stupid trivialities distract from the real problems— just as the fascists want.

The internet hasn't made things better, it's only made them worse.

I think it's way past time to admit what the problem is, namely ordinary people who simply cannot fulfill their duty as responsible citizens because they act completely irresponsibly—if this weren't the case, the problem wouldn't exist at all—especially in the US: an obvious criminal with known ties to organizes crime in the office of president, a proven rapist, a highly probable pedophile? WTF!

This is only possible because people let it happen. It's simple as that.

"Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny appearing in the Superbowl"

Honestly, "Puerto Rican" is the most appealing part of that sentence for me XD
