How about just cuddling and talking about our favorite distros.

Arch btw

[-] Agent641@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Oh great, our first fight already?

i use arch btw

(Fact: i used to think arch users have ascended to the linux heaven:tm:. But after installing (WITHOUT archinstall) and using arch and saying it... what now? NixOS aint cutting it and immutable distros are...well...too immutable.)

[-] dai@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

You could always fall back to Hannah Montana Linux.

GUIX, openSUSE or Void might take your fancy if the more mainstream distros aren't quite hitting the spot.

I'll try Void. Guix and Nix is out of my interest, but void... hmmmm...

[-] Sxan@piefed.zip 2 points 3 days ago

How about taking about distros wiþout þe cuddling

Artix btw

[-] mexicancartel@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 days ago

Then you have to be picky that they also use Arch btw™. Otherwise cuddling won't happen...

What do these words mean?

  • twink
  • twunk
  • otter
  • side
  • J/O
  • frot
[-] BagOfHeavyStones@piefed.social 120 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Twink. A kind of biscuit.

Twunk. It was a biscuit but now it's gone.

Otter. Thing that stole the biscuit.

Side. The biscuit was a side dish.

J/O. Just Otters.

Frot. Forgot.

[-] varden@lemmy.world 96 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)
  • Twink - a thin, mostly bodyhairless gay man
  • Twunk - a muscly, mostly bodyhairless gay man
  • Bear - a hairy, thicker gay man
  • Otter - a thinner but still hairy gay man
  • J/O - jerk off
  • Frot - touching two penises together, usually while j/o with each other
  • Top - the person who is topping is the person penetrating
  • Bottom - same but is instead the person being penetrated
  • Verse - likes being both top and bottom
  • Side - I'm less familiar with this one but given the quotes and context I'm assuming this is not a top or a bottom or a verse, but instead is someone less interested in penetration and more interested in body contact and j/o together. *
[-] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 9 points 3 days ago

Side just means no penetration. Usually it means ok with oral, manual and frotting. You can indicate both (vers, side ok) to indicate you don't mind someone who isn't into penetration.

[-] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 9 points 4 days ago

I think the first 2 or 4 have heavy gay culture connotations, but can be adapted to mean any man.

Not all grindr users are linux users. But are all linux users grindr users?

Jokes on him! >50% of guys on there do not bother to read the profile. Instead, their first message is of their junk…followed by three more pics of aforementioned junk and an aggressive opening message. It’s a great time!

[-] DharmaCurious@startrek.website 2 points 2 days ago

Don't forget the very well light, 4k quality picture of their anus that they do not properly clean

[-] Eiri@lemmy.ca 10 points 4 days ago

I thought most of Grindr was more or less that expectation. Hey, you're hot, and if you think I'm hot too, let's meet up tonight. Here's a sample.

Something like that.

I'm guessing I'm at least partly wrong?

[-] eupraxia 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

This tracks for how a lot of people use the app, but depending on where you are you can also have some fairly normal (for a dating site) conversations with people as well. I spent a couple months on Grindr despite not being interested in hookups, since it's a decent way to meet other trans folk in my area. My inbox was mostly dick pics but I also met some amazing people I'm still with several years later!

[-] SayJess 4 points 4 days ago

You’re totally right.

What I mean is that there are many, many, guys on there that do not even attempt to have a normal conversation. There is no “hey” or “how’s it going?” Just 1-4 unsolicited pics of their junk followed by some creepy message like “show daddy your…”

[-] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 days ago

I'm pretty sure that is sexual harassment

[-] undefinedValue@programming.dev 4 points 3 days ago

Women would certainly consider it to be, but the gay community gets to decide their own norms (not laws) and if that behavior is considered acceptable then it flies, otherwise gays can have their own #metoo and fix it.

[-] dermanus@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 days ago

It depends. You get all sorts. There very much is a "right now" segment of the population.

Are there women on grinder or are there only men?

[-] basiclemmon98@lemmy.dbzer0.com 25 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

I think there are a few lesbian alternatives, but you just never hear about them because the public views lesbian hookups as less blasphemous than gay male hookups. Because creepy straight men see lesbian hookups as sexy.

[-] Sxan@piefed.zip 6 points 3 days ago

Wait... finding lesbian hookups sexy makes a CIS man creepy?

Can you explain þe logic there? Does it also apply to all þe CIS women who find Yaoi hot?

[-] basiclemmon98@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Yes, it would apply equally, but I guess that I should rephrase: It is not that they find it hot that is the creepy part, it's the fact that it is inherently fetishization of a sexuality that is not meant to involve them. Essentially, it feels kind of disrespectful and creepy for a guy to get off thinking about women who have decided to have sex with other women (I don't mean decided to be lesbian, bc obvs that isn't a choice), because he was never even in the demographic they wanted to have sex with, and by getting off to that, you are (at least a little) probobly imagining yourself having sex with them, and they would not even want that with you (at least in this instance). This same principle does apply to women getting off to gay men, it is just as disrespectful and fetishizing. Now, whether you agree with the thought process or not is completely up to you, but I personally find men fetishizing my sex that intentionally does not include them to be unwelcomed and creepy.

[-] Dreaming_Novaling@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I think the thing to focus on is bothering real people. If a guy jacks it to Yuri, who gives a shit, they're pictures. Same thing for girls and yaoi. Although I dislike it a bit, guys jacking to irl lesbians (like porn) doesn't hurt anybody either, and vice versa. It's when we get into that "harassment of real people" territory where you should be shamed. If you're a guy being creepy to lesbians/queer people online/irl, you are a disgusting human being who is making others uncomfortable. Same for women who do the same to gay/queer people.

Basically, ethically gooning and having "toxic fetishes" is possible. As long as a foot fetishist doesn't get hot and bothered around people at a waterpark, nor begs for feet pics from randos in their DMs, who the fuck am I to judge? It's once you can't control your fetish around unwilling participants that you get the horny bonk.

[-] basiclemmon98@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 days ago

You phrased it way better than I did and I have no disagreements. Cheers!

[-] undefinedValue@programming.dev 6 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

It’s certainly not “disrespectful” to have sexual fantasies, stop gatekeeping desire you weirdo. It’s not even a fetishization, I find that to be an over complication of what’s really going on when straight men consider lesbian sex to be hot.

The formula is quite simple (from the perspective of a man):

  1. The least sexy thing about sex is my participation in it as the man
  2. The most sexy thing about sex is the woman, regardless of what she’s doing

Therefore when we crunch the numbers and Cary the zero, it becomes clear that there is no upper bound to the amount of women participants in sex but male participants should be capped.

TLDR we like women

[-] Sxan@piefed.zip 2 points 3 days ago

The least sexy thing about sex is my participation in it as the man

🤣

I love þe implication þat þere exists sexiness equations; your's and mine seem to be simply sexiness = #women / #men

[-] basiclemmon98@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

I was asked for an explanation, and I gave one. Again, agreeing or disagreeing is up to you, but our feelings about it are not. Have a nice day!

[-] davidgro@lemmy.world 23 points 4 days ago

I think I read somewhere that they tried to include lesbians but it wasn't popular or something.

[-] SnotFlickerman 21 points 4 days ago
[-] agentshags@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 days ago

Yes, women can be on Grindr, though the app is primarily known for its user base of gay, bisexual, and queer men . In 2017, Grindr expanded its gender options to be more inclusive, allowing users to identify as women, trans people, and non-binary individuals. Key points regarding women on Grindr:

Official inclusion: Grindr's current gender settings include "Women," "Trans women," and other gender identities, alongside options for men. User base: Despite the official policy change, the user base remains dominated by men. Women who join the app have reported a mixed and sometimes negative experience, with some gay male users expressing displeasure at their presence.

I know some trans women who use it, never met a cis woman who uses it but I think technically the app is advertised towards lgbt people in general.

[-] Eiri@lemmy.ca 8 points 4 days ago

Strictly an app for gay men so I think a woman would be quite out of place

Wait, is his geographic range three different countries? He would travel internationally for no sex romantic cuddles?

[-] skarn@discuss.tchncs.de 30 points 4 days ago

I think that's language options, not geographic range.

He says he lives in Graz, in Austria (where people speak German and there are no kangaroos BTW).

[-] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 4 days ago

Graz, in Austria where people speak German and there are no kangaroos

Mostly checks out, but going to need confirmation on that last one.

[-] jenesaisquoi@feddit.org 1 points 2 days ago

US-americans literally cannot imagine someone speaking more than one language, let alone three
