This is shamelessly stolen from two posts earlier in my timeline.

[-] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 9 points 9 hours ago

Yes it is bullshit we will just sit here a take a big bite and not say anything. We need to take action we need to untie regardless of political affiliation or gender identity. If not we will all be marched into the prison camps while looking at our phones.

[-] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 9 points 9 hours ago

The worst thing is it's going to work. Again.

[-] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 5 points 9 hours ago

“Work”?

It’s nothing but theater. The only thing it does is fuel the Official State Fascism Faux News channel bullshit and lies.

[-] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 4 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

It will let them invade Chicago without consequences. And that's a first step in taking control over Democrat run states and cities.

[-] Mog_fanatic@lemmy.world 4 points 8 hours ago

That's how it works... It's all theatre, always has been. And it works. Look how many people are head over heels for pretty much anything this administration does. Actual outcomes don't matter. Consequences don't matter until it guts them personally, and even then sometimes it doesn't matter. All that matters is how it looks in the media and the theatre makes it look damn good to their demographic and they love it.

Alas! Verily our cup overfloweth with accusations! Were we not so o’er wrought and engorged on aspersions flung, we mayn’t find such callous rebukes so lacking in labour and easily loosened from their prison of parlance!

Go now we demand! Say not the things wished upon those who adversary your designs! Act instead as an extension of those that saw fit to place you in the very position to do so!

(There was zero use of AI in writhing this by the way. It sucks we now have to disclaimer our creativity. I was simply bored. That’s it)

Yeah, America is in the midst of a fascist coup .... the question is not if or when it is happening (it's already started) .... the question is when the people will react to it to stop it or let it all just fester and go on until it's way too late to do anything about it all.

[-] thedruid@lemmy.world 4 points 9 hours ago

Takes a few missed meals. It'll happen.

[-] zd9@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

But honestly, would you rather have a fascist dictator and be able to feed and shelter yourself, or have no food and in a violent domestic war? Just something to consider. When people get hungry that's when action happens as has been historically shown, but who knows what comes after that.

It'd be great if they were toppled and some form of competent leadership and "normalcy" (when was the last normal period that we'd like to return to even?), but with violence comes further instability, death, imprisonment, etc. Ideally we can do everything non-violently within the system, but that hasn't really worked so... I don't know...

[-] thedruid@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

Youngster, there is no peace or food in a facist dictatorship, only fear and death. Those who seek to live, fight even though they may lose

[-] zd9@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

lol youngster, no u

"There's no food in a dictatorship"... You should get offline for a bit and go talk to other people

[-] thedruid@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Garuntee it.

You ever been dirt floor poor and hunted more than shopped? If not, stop taking about hungry. There's people the world over who know the truth of what I'm saying, even if you don't

[-] Tehbaz@lemmy.wtf 30 points 16 hours ago

The latter. They think they can still vote their way out of fascism in 2026 and 2028. Until they experience a famine caused by the GOP and oligarchs running the economy into the ground, people are not going to be pissed off enough to do anything of consequence.

[-] MBech@feddit.dk 10 points 12 hours ago

Even if Trump came out tomorrow and say "I am now your dictator. I am going to enslave you all, and if you don't agree, you'll go to a deathcamp where you'll be starved, tortured and worked to death". Americans would still just be a bit pissy, and half the country would still make excuses for him like "It's going to make everything much more efficient". While the other half are whining about not being able to resist, because things could always get worse for them personally.

[-] Rothe@piefed.social 5 points 12 hours ago

The bread and circuses is still going strong in the US.

[-] zd9@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago

(Un)fortunately not enough people across the country have personally experienced severe negative consequences yet. I give it like 6 more months (optimistically) until it gets bad enough for everyone to start mobilizing.

[-] vxx@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

Credit card debt too high for that.

[-] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

Watch for continued demonization of the left and then an ever-so-slight lift to the 2A winguts so that the regime can call on them to become a giant shitty posse to suppress anyone who thinks they might have rights.

[-] Greyghoster@aussie.zone 20 points 20 hours ago

It’s just the Epstein files distraction as well as the failure of the Ukraine peace Epstein files distraction failure.

[-] prole 5 points 10 hours ago

Yeah dude. The fascist takeover of our government is totally just a distraction.

At some point, these accounts have to be malicious, right?

[-] Fedizen@lemmy.world 14 points 17 hours ago

I think rather than calling everything a "distraction" it makes more sense to call it what it is: desperate attempts to cling to power. If trump loses power he can no longer cover up the epstein files. Ergo, this is just the latest effort to cover up the files.

[-] Rothe@piefed.social 4 points 12 hours ago

Even without the Epstein files he would still be doing all this shit. That is what he does, and the avalanche of shit serves to cover up the individual lump of shit. It was exactly the same back in his first term, he has just gotten a lot bolder now, which says a lot.

[-] bear 6 points 17 hours ago

And on the red side, that jeans commercial manufactured outrage distraction started to Peter out, so now we're on to cracker barrel. It's really scraping the bottom.

[-] Xanthobilly@lemmy.world 3 points 16 hours ago
[-] jj4211@lemmy.world 9 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

Cracker Barrel did a modern rebrand including a more minimalist logo with just the words on a plan background, removing the chair, man, and barrel.

Which was stupid, showing they don't understand their folksy, old fashioned appeal, however conservatives have lost their damn mind, claiming that cracker barrel went "woke". Guess if they don't like it, then it has to be "woke"

I did bring myself to watch one conservative person that seemed all in on the too woke message. Then went inside and admitted they couldn't see how it was "woke" (i.e. the wait staff they met were all white).

[-] moncharleskey@lemmy.zip 4 points 14 hours ago

Cracker Barrel changed their logo and the conservatives are pissed, tanking Cracker Barrel's stock value. Now personally, I think the new logo looks cheap, but I'm not about to trade stock over it.

[-] jj4211@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

Frankly, I do think it's worthy of tanking the stock, it's just a really bad sign that the leadership doesn't understand that 'old-fashioned' is key to their brand.

The 'gone woke' criticism is stupid, but it is a real head scratcher that Cracker Barrel thinks they should go all in on modern minimal design when their whole schtick is 'old country store'. They are relatively free of competitive pressure in that niche, and yet they go to a bland logo at odds with their niche.

[-] prole 1 points 10 hours ago

Frankly, I do think it’s worthy of tanking the stock,

Because they changed the logo? Who gives a shit?

If it's a good restaurant, why the fuck would it matter if the sign looks slightly different.

Y'all are fucking weird.

[-] bilb@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 hours ago

You don't buy and sell stocks based on whether they make good food.

[-] jj4211@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

As a restauraunt they are "ok".

Their unique draw is as an "experience", a folksy old-fashioned restaurant and country store. Chasing the modern minimalist design sentiment is a troubling sign of forfeiting their marketing advantage over an otherwise crowded market of other generic restaurants.

Now if that 'old-fashioned' was failing and the restauraunts were just a place where a few senior citizens go but is mostly a ghost town, I could see an urgency. Like last time I went to a K&W, you just had like a dozen people, with a surprisingly high number of people toting around some medical equipment. However, in my experience Cracker Barrel has been pretty busy still.
