It’s just the Epstein files distraction as well as the failure of the Ukraine peace Epstein files distraction failure.

[-] prole 5 points 13 hours ago

Yeah dude. The fascist takeover of our government is totally just a distraction.

At some point, these accounts have to be malicious, right?

[-] Greyghoster@aussie.zone 2 points 1 hour ago

No, the takeover is real. Trump uses chaos as a distraction as a way to mask or change the focus. A large amount of the time he is devoted to making himself look good or divert attention from something that he doesn’t like. That’s part of why he does outrageous things.

[-] Fedizen@lemmy.world 14 points 20 hours ago

I think rather than calling everything a "distraction" it makes more sense to call it what it is: desperate attempts to cling to power. If trump loses power he can no longer cover up the epstein files. Ergo, this is just the latest effort to cover up the files.

[-] Rothe@piefed.social 4 points 15 hours ago

Even without the Epstein files he would still be doing all this shit. That is what he does, and the avalanche of shit serves to cover up the individual lump of shit. It was exactly the same back in his first term, he has just gotten a lot bolder now, which says a lot.

And on the red side, that jeans commercial manufactured outrage distraction started to Peter out, so now we're on to cracker barrel. It's really scraping the bottom.

Cracker Barrel did a modern rebrand including a more minimalist logo with just the words on a plan background, removing the chair, man, and barrel.

Which was stupid, showing they don't understand their folksy, old fashioned appeal, however conservatives have lost their damn mind, claiming that cracker barrel went "woke". Guess if they don't like it, then it has to be "woke"

I did bring myself to watch one conservative person that seemed all in on the too woke message. Then went inside and admitted they couldn't see how it was "woke" (i.e. the wait staff they met were all white).

I like the one with Elon's face.

Cracker Barrel changed their logo and the conservatives are pissed, tanking Cracker Barrel's stock value. Now personally, I think the new logo looks cheap, but I'm not about to trade stock over it.

[-] jj4211@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago

Frankly, I do think it's worthy of tanking the stock, it's just a really bad sign that the leadership doesn't understand that 'old-fashioned' is key to their brand.

The 'gone woke' criticism is stupid, but it is a real head scratcher that Cracker Barrel thinks they should go all in on modern minimal design when their whole schtick is 'old country store'. They are relatively free of competitive pressure in that niche, and yet they go to a bland logo at odds with their niche.

[-] prole 1 points 13 hours ago

Frankly, I do think it’s worthy of tanking the stock,

Because they changed the logo? Who gives a shit?

If it's a good restaurant, why the fuck would it matter if the sign looks slightly different.

Y'all are fucking weird.

You don't buy and sell stocks based on whether they make good food.

[-] jj4211@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago

As a restauraunt they are "ok".

Their unique draw is as an "experience", a folksy old-fashioned restaurant and country store. Chasing the modern minimalist design sentiment is a troubling sign of forfeiting their marketing advantage over an otherwise crowded market of other generic restaurants.

Now if that 'old-fashioned' was failing and the restauraunts were just a place where a few senior citizens go but is mostly a ghost town, I could see an urgency. Like last time I went to a K&W, you just had like a dozen people, with a surprisingly high number of people toting around some medical equipment. However, in my experience Cracker Barrel has been pretty busy still.
