𝕏 is one character but four UTF-8 bytes. Alternatively, there are non-space characters that render as blank, such as β €.

All my homies hate fandom and use UFOpaedia

[-] Z3k3@lemmy.world 19 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Fair enough. It was the top result on a quick qwant search. I didn't put any more thought onto it than that

Fun fact here in the UK they game was actually called ufo enemy unknown

There's a browser extension that will automatically redirect you to a non-fandom wiki and can even replace the results from searches.

If no alternative exists, it takes you to a breezewiki mirror.

Highly recommended! It's called "Indie Wiki Buddy"

Wow they must have really done something shitty if someone went to that trouble

I was gonna say, when I was growing up my dad pirated that game for me and my brother by downloading it from a BBS. We thought it was just called "UFO Enemy Unknown". Then later XCOM 2 came out and we were like "wtf is an XCOM"?

Game's still dope as hell btw.

You mean UFO Terror from the deep, surely?

Fuck yeah. I hope to beat it without hacks one day

[-] Malix@sopuli.xyz 23 points 6 days ago

OP had 90% chance to include that game in the meme.

From your wiki link

r.nf A general Lemmy instance

Nice seeing lemmy on that list!

Is that like, actually usable instance?

Clicking continue on content warning does nothing. Go back starts a 5 second countdown that then proceeds into negative numbers.

[-] nimble 9 points 6 days ago

I had no problem clicking continue but it did make pause for a second lol

[-] user224@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 6 days ago

Hmm, works in Opera but not Firefox. Meh.

wow that's the most 2003-looking logo I've seen in quite a while

[-] Ziglin@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

I expected it to older but according to the Wikipedia article it initially released in 2004.
