Alligator Auschwitz works for that. Someone called it that last week.

We shouldn’t use any of the branding the nazis have provided. It’s the Everglades concentration camp.

Because it really takes a seriousness away from it.

I 100% disagree. It's catchy, it's exactly the same, and gives you a picture in your head instantly.

That’s exactly the point: calling something a concentration camp shouldn’t sound like a marketing slogan that promotes it. Nothing really grabs attention of the public while also communicating something is unquestionably bad than calling a concentration camp. Because that’s exactly what it is.

I agree. As fun as it is to say, it puts a bit of humor into a humorless situation. No one would laugh if someone said German-Jew-Barbecue.

But it helps to have a marketing slogan to get others to understand that this is a bad thing. They built a facility for people to go and die in. Might as well call it Auschwitz.

We should call it Camp DeSantis. I know it's part of a broader federal policy, but I feel local political pressure is the right choice in a republic. The governor is letting this happen. And also because, fuck that guy.

I prefer to call it a "Racist Torture Facility".

[-] 4grams@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago

I’m convinced this place is designed to kill people. I mean, they defunded noaa, cancelled FEMA, and built a hastily constructed, non-storm rated facility and dropped it in hurricane alley. It’s already flooded once.

I'm going to go with "U.S. Dachau". Descriptive timing and initial stated intent for the camp in its relationship to nazi Germany. No cute branding, just straight attribution. I was thinking of going with "Republican..." but that would only blame half the parties; its the US flag flying overhead after all.
