“Everyone feels like a fool and regrets the decision. I personally didn’t vote in the last election, and neither did my parents. At this point, I believe there are bad people on the left and the right,” Gardner said.

Jesus fucking Christ still a fucking centrist shitting on the "left" even as the State kidnapped your fucking husband.

Despite this, Free Ribvar Karimi and free all people kidnapped by ICE. He sucks but he doesn't deserve this—because no one deserves this!

[-] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 47 points 1 month ago

Bitch, Obama didn't kidnap your husband. AOC didn't kidnap your husband. Bernie didn't kidnap your husband. Mamdani didn't kidnap your husband. Trump did.

[-] hanrahan@slrpnk.net 14 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Bitch, Obama didn't kidnap your husband.

That's some revisionist nonsense.

https://www.migrationpolicy.org/article/obama-record-deportations-deporter-chief-or-not

Barack Obama was famously labeled “deporter in chief” by critics in the immigrant-rights community,

Back in the day would people have posted a link in here if an Obama supporting immgrants husband had been deported ?

[-] GuyFawkes@midwest.social 14 points 1 month ago

No, he DOES deserves this for providing aid and comfort to a person so terrible they support Trump. Leopards, faces, and wow looks like this is posted in the spot on right place.

[-] pupbiru@aussie.zone 14 points 4 weeks ago

can we settle on nobody deserves this, but given it’s happening he’s among the most deserving?

No, he DOES deserves this

No he doesn't because NO ONE deserves to be deported by ICE. We can quibble later about what constitutes justice for people who enable Trump supporters, and I'm not going to police your feelings about him or people like him...I know what community I'm posting in...but supporting his deportation is not productive for the people Mr. Karimi and his wife hurt with their rhetoric and complicity! Because then, all the government and media have to do to manufacture your consent for the deportations is smear the deportees' characters.

If you think he deserves social ostracisation or some other consequence then sure, fine, but deportation by the American Gestapo? Even if you think he deserves the worst, we don't deserve the consequences of yet another ICE deportation of one of our neighbors.

Everything the State does is imposed on us by the capitalist class. So even if you would support his neighbors running him out of town...this is completely different! This is an imposition on the community that he's no longer allowed to be a part of it. And while today it happened to a Trump supporter, it happens just as often to upstanding or even beloved people in the community. We shouldn't be tolerant of any interference of the capitalist class in our affairs, even when it hurts someone I personally don't like.

Mr. Karimi is a xenophobic ass hat who I'm certain would never fight for one of us, but he's still one of our neighbors.

My eyes almost rolled all the way out of my head reading this article. The dude is from IRAN, and this blindsided them.

To be clear, it sounds like this dude is a loving family man and member of the community, and he did not deserve this. And even if he was a scumbag, we don't use secret police to deal with scumbags.

But sometimes it hurts to have the depth of some people's oblivious ignorance revealed so starkly. Some other comments have already pointed out the stupid "golly I think there might be bad people on the left AND the right!" conclusion at the end of the article. But here's another gem from in the middle:

“My husband himself, even being from Iran, supported Trump, his immigration policies, and understood he was trying to protect the American people and was praying he helped free the Iranian people,” Gardner told Newsweek.

These people look at an elderly hateful narcissist of a grifter and parasite, and hear his messages of hate and division and exclusion, and apparently the image formed in their dusty brains is Captain Fucking Planet!

[-] blarth@thelemmy.club 62 points 1 month ago

I’m so extremely puzzled by it. I cannot fathom what it is that’s so alluring about Donald Trump. The guy is a total asswipe.

[-] Salamanderwizard@lemmy.world 33 points 1 month ago

It's the "I don't give a fuck" attitude he has. His fan base thinks that leader material. They think compromise and humility are weak. They like that he doesn't care for people. They believe he cares for them and all his hate spew is towards everyone else but them.

[-] fed0sine@lemm.ee 12 points 1 month ago

it is like a siren song.

[-] sundray@lemmus.org 13 points 1 month ago

Does your life suck? Well, it's somebody's fault. And Trump is going to make them pay.

[-] Kickforce@lemmy.wtf 11 points 1 month ago

The guy talks like he feels strongly about issues but remains absolutely vague, which allows people to subconsciously fill in the blanks, so they hear whatever they want to hear.

That thing that I'm afraid of, he is going to solve that once and for all, without fussing about saying things are complicated like the democrats would.

That is how the other narcissistic morons always describes one of their own. During covid there were so many obituaries about these "loving family people" who had died from being unvaccinated, and when you checked their social media history it consisted of nothing but heinous hateful memes.

“My heart is broken,” Gardner told the outlet. “Our baby shower is going to be next weekend, and he’s not going to be at home to go to that with me.”

Oh, don't you worry about that, ICE will show up and detain that baby.

[-] Zink@programming.dev 18 points 1 month ago

ICE will show up and detain that baby.

I heard they got the protip from the Commander in Chief himself. You just grab 'em by the pussy and that baby ain't goin' nowhere!

I think in history there has never been a quicker demonstration of "if you support fascists they will eventually come for you too". Dude has been in the office for couple months and is already rounding up his supporters lol

[-] MarieMarion@literature.cafe 28 points 1 month ago

A couple of months? I reflexively thought No, it must be a couple years already.
Damn, those were long months.

[-] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 19 points 4 weeks ago

Yep and 3.5 years to go.....if it ever ends.

And she's voting Republican again!

Leopards: "NomNom"

[-] TempermentalAnomaly@lemmy.world 28 points 4 weeks ago

It amazes me that these articles keep appearing and the Democrats are unable to leverage this into votes. Writing these people as stupid is useless. We still have to win elections with a large population of stupid people.

[-] Treczoks@lemmy.world 18 points 4 weeks ago

You cannot leverage this into votes. You regularly read "Trump killed my business/sent my spouse to Neverland/whatever, but I will vote for him again!". Those people can't be helped.

Gardner is seven months pregnant, but remains hopeful that her husband will be with her when she gives birth.

“My heart is broken,” Gardner told the outlet. “Our baby shower is going to be next weekend, and he’s not going to be at home to go to that with me.”

He’s missing the baby shower?? You should tell ICE, maybe they’ll release him.

[-] Ledericas@lemm.ee 20 points 1 month ago

I understand that they’ve got a job to do, immigration, but I just feel like he was specifically targeted because of what’s going on where he’s from, his home country,

Isn't that true for most of the immigrants

[-] Hayduke@lemmy.world 31 points 1 month ago

Ha, and might I add, Ha.

[-] Drusas@fedia.io 27 points 1 month ago

“We have been saying we are getting the worst of the worst out—and we are. We don’t wait until a military operation to execute; we proactively deliver on President Trump’s mandate to secure the homeland,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement.

These people are so evil. Hopefully someday they all get their just desserts from a Nuremberg-style trial.

[-] grue@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

10000% pure copium. The fascists will NEVER see any semblance of justice unless YOU, PERSONALLY dedicate your life to making it happen. And even then, it isn't likely unless millions of other Americans accept their individual responsibility as a citizen to do the same.

THAT is the level of effort required to bring a society back after it has allowed its democratic institutions to fail.

[-] 0_o7@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 month ago

There are actual war criminal presidents roaming freely in the US and you think these people will get anything close to the Nuremberg trial? Delusional much?

Evil is country like yours avoiding any accountability which has made people like Putin and Netanyahu point at you and avoid any consequence. So spare me the bullshit rhetoric they'll face anything but a slap in the wrist.

She doesn't seem like the best catch.

“He brought happiness back to me, and taught me what it is like to be loved correctly,” Gardner wrote on the site. “He encouraged me, and still encourages me each and every day. He sees the best in me, and never has given up, despite how difficult I can be sometimes.”

[-] Tinidril@midwest.social 25 points 1 month ago

If you can't handle me at my worst, I'll call ICE on you.

[-] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 month ago

Sounds like the type of woman whose whole existence and personality is "So-and-so's wife". Aka typical Republican woman.

[-] pachrist@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

There are very few people who are a "catch" in the traditional sense. You have to be hot, with no faults, flaws, or baggage. High bar.

We are all depressed, stressed, anxious, self-absorbed people, in our own ways and to our own degrees. Admitting and understanding your shortcomings is hard. Having someone in your life that you can say those things about is a godsend. In the real world, the only requirement for being a catch is that you work your ass off so that your partner can say the same.

Also, this woman is having a baby shower. She's probably 7-8 months pregnant. Having been through that a few times, she's probably a hormonal, emotional wreck under the best of circumstances, but her husband is in a concentration camp, and thanks to the Supreme Court, he can be deported to Sudan with no repurcussions.

This was mind-boggling and painful to read. Literally every paragraph was just wrong in at least six different ways.

[-] Shirasho@lemmings.world 14 points 1 month ago

I have less sympathy for non-voters than I do Republican voters.

[-] Anomalocaris@lemm.ee 14 points 4 weeks ago

this is like burning women at the stake and laughing that some spectators got hit by a hot ember. saying that he deserves it.

they punishment that they deserve is nothing in comparison to what they get.

and the pain they are recieving is inconsequential compared to the one they are causing
