I guess it's pretty discriminating that some orientations get more letters than others, one even is allowed to have a number and potentially many more have to share just one single +. Why not use only the + for everyone? ♥️
This is why most of us just use 'queer' nowadays, even though it's not very accurate in some ways for some people.
Personally think GSRM should be more popular. Its short and includes everyone, and isnt making a a hidden declaration that some minorities are more special by having their own letter (thus the reason for appending more to the alphabet soup)

I've been advocating for the adoption of "people with minority Sexual Orientations and/or Gender Identities" ie "SOGI minorities" or "SOGIm".
I think I still prefer " SOGI minorities" because it's inclusive, and the acronym sort of stands on it's own e.g. I recently learned my province has SOGI curriculum as part of the school system. It's not just about SOGI minorities, it's about helping kids understand what gender is, and isn't.
I do like how GSRM articulates the difference between sexuality and romance though.
We believe it was coopted by pedophiles or they tried to claim it for themselves or join in with using it in some way, so sadly there's a lot of baggage which comes with it and why any in the know don't use it.

Queer is slightly contentious in some ways (and we don't mean it having been a slur previously), but yeah, generally better.
White people have some really bad names. Only a white woman would name her kid khaleesi.
Guy I know worked ers. Kid named Nosmo. The mother looked up, saw the no smoking sign, said that sounds good.
As far as names go it's better than the white ones lmao.

I think this exact string was a plot point in Ramona and her father by Beverly Cleary. Ramona intended to create a "NO SMOKING" sign, but paper dimension limitations caused the sign to read "NOSMO KING".

they are indeed, I just find that names derived from consumable works have seemingly less heartfelt meaning than established names from ancestral roots.
I do agree that mixing it up a little makes for a more interesting world. I'd love to meet a Lyra at some point in my life

It's fairly common for parents to name their children based on the day they were born, like naming them after the saint that day represents.
I met a guy who's name was the equivalent to "nat-hol" because he was born on the local national holiday and that's what it showed on the calendar for that day.
These people are naming children like animals.

To be fair lgb and lgb+ was a lot easier. Its practically doubled over time. Is the Q even needed? I thought queer was a slur.
It's lgbt, not lgb. And queer is a reclaimed slur.
gotta realize I have experience going back to the 70's. I could be wrong but I swear it was lgb at one point.
"LGB" may very well have been used to refer to sexual and romantic minorities, but now it's mostly used by transphobes who want to exlude trans people from their own community.
I mean I was never in the community but it was pretty well represented in communities I was in.
I looked it up and the Q can stand for "queer" or "questioning". I've always assumed it was the second for the exact reason you mentioned. It has been, at least in part, reclaimed, although it probably differs from group to group.
