I can't tell who wears it better but I can offer an opinion about the uniforms. Kermit is cheating, Kirk needs a bigger size and Pike's is flashy but those shoulder seams are made to look good only while standing still, don't try to move your arm. The only one I like is Archer's

I think The Orville gives us the answer.

[-] cowfodder@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

I still fully believe that The Orville is the best modern Star Trek series.

[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

I might be there with you. It hits the right notes.

[-] verity_kindle@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

Giant desk, flattering lighting, Kermit and a comfortable uniform. He may have it better than any Trek captain.

[-] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 12 points 2 days ago

Mount has the best hair. Haven’t the bandwidth to process anything else.

[-] Speiser0@feddit.org 10 points 3 days ago

You can see Shatner's breasts through his pajama. Kermit, on the other hand, is naked (well, he's wearing something around his neck, but that's not covering anything).

I love Hayward's expression here, it seems to say, "Kermit wore it better, we all know it, put down that thing, quit being so dramatic."

Slight Note: Yes, that's me. If you want to block me, better block that account because I have a sneaking suspicion that piefed.world is going to end up becoming my home sooner rather than later. Just testing it out for now.

Wait until you find out about my main account.

Yes.

Main account.

You think I use Stamets all the time?

I've been around on Lemmy a lot longer than 'Stamets' has been.

[-] OpenStars@piefed.social 6 points 2 days ago
[-] Stamets@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Nope! I enjoy having an account where no one knows who I am. I even post on that account occasionally, too and no one will ever know. Posted one once after my Stamets posting. Someone commented saying something like finally a post not done by Stamets and I almost died.

[-] OpenStars@piefed.social 3 points 2 days ago

An almost oopsie!

(Except intentional... or SO YOU CLAIM!:-P /s) But we will never remain satisfied, knowing there is more to that story!

[-] Stamets@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Oh I'm gonna die and you'll never know. I learned, at extreme cost, to value my privacy.

SUFFER!

[-] OpenStars@piefed.social 4 points 2 days ago

It is too late. Your words have revealed who you are.

You must be... Keiko! (And I am Miles then, in this fantasy in my head now?:-P)

This is now cannon, and cannot be undone. Unless you want it too I guess...

[-] Stamets@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

I'm okay with this if it means I'm no longer alone ;_;

[-] OpenStars@piefed.social 5 points 2 days ago

You are never alone. Even / especially when you do not want to be. You have all of tenforward waiting to enjoy your words, whenever you choose to share:-) 💖.

At least, until the bombs drop and we all die during our version of the Bell Riots. But until then, none of us have any excuses for not making this a merry place for foofaraw!

Speaking of, I figured it out (oh no not again!?), who you must be!

[-] Stamets@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

I'll give you one hint and one hint alone about my main account.

The username is 4 letters. They're not Kirk

Go nuts.

And hey, stop being sweet. It's making me salivate. I haven't eaten in days, I don't need this torture

[-] OpenStars@piefed.social 3 points 2 days ago

Dang it, so I guess you aren't me then?

Unless... that's what you (I?) want me (uh... 🤯) to think⁉️

4 letters, not Kirk, it's got to be Spock then! Wait no, Data! That's the ticket... A MUCH better choice than Miles, unless you enjoy the suffering 😉

[-] Stamets@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Just keep guessing <3

[-] sundray@lemmus.org 9 points 3 days ago

"I don't think he knows about 2nd Stamets..."

[-] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

I’ve been considering that one, too. Are there any good native clients that work with it?

Edit: piefed.social recommends Interstellar.

[-] Quokka@quokk.au 6 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

So far it's only Interstellar. The API has been release recently, so it's coming to a few more soon.

I use the PWA at version at the moment, works well on my phone.

If anyone is wanting to try out PieFed, registration is open on my instance and all are welcome.

[-] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 3 points 2 days ago

Top tier username BTW.

[-] Jaxia@startrek.website 8 points 3 days ago

Definitely Pike

[-] spittingimage@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

...but it's meant to be gold...

[-] Stamets@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

So, fun fact. They're actually originally green but were showing up as gold underneath the lights that they were using. After a while they said fuck it, put in dialogue canonizing the Golden shirts and went with that. However, this wrap around shirt was made from a different material that wasn't impacted by the lighting. So the green color you see here was what the original Command color was!

Since then, they've just used the green shirts seemingly at complete random. More like Easter Eggs than anything else.

News flash: the original TOS gold shirts were green but the film processing didn’t give us that. Somehow that specific alternate tunic fabric came out on film closer to the actual fabric colour.

[-] hopesdead@startrek.website 5 points 3 days ago

It looks like leather on Pike.

[-] Quokka@quokk.au 5 points 3 days ago

Why is Kermit not in his captains uniform?

[-] mercano@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

Kermit’s a nudist. He wears a trench coat when reporting for Sesame Street News, but the network said he had to wear something, so he went with the flasher’s cliche.

[-] Marn@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 days ago

I'm generally a trek fan, I just find it odd they feel the need to make the captian look like Shatner. Is it to just appease the older trek audience that can't handle anything different?

[-] Stamets@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

For Enterprise? 100%. They played it really safe in some areas. That's why they used sex so much in the show. For Strange New Worlds? It's just a consequence of Pike being the original Captain for TOS before the studio changed him. They re-used the footage so they're just sort of locked in due to the decisions of the 60s.

[-] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

SECS? IN STAR TREK?! No there weren't any sex scenes. Just a crapload of decontamination, various wardrobe malfunctions, and really intimate moments between friends and bunkmates.
