Ruined? Those auctioneer will spin some artsy story and it will be a million pound art. It's money laundering after all.

Story is wrong, it was his last day.

[-] vaguerant@fedia.io 78 points 3 weeks ago

You're not wrong.

The security guard has since been fired and the police have opened a criminal investigation.

[-] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 22 points 3 weeks ago

That was his day on the job.

Of all of his days on the job, this was all of them

[-] mvirts@lemmy.world 41 points 3 weeks ago

I just wish it was the original artist who got a job as a security guard just for this

A conservationist should be able to remove the ink. I doubt it’s “ruined”.

Edit: looked it up, apparently restoration cost about $5k. Not ruined, but definitely a costly little stunt.

Article where the guard explains a bit

He explains that some teenage girls handed him a pen and said draw eyes on it. And he was like, okay sure I guess.

"ruined" in the eyes of the ones. "Upgraded" in the eyes of others.

Taste in art is highly individual as can be seen here again.

He may have added value.

[-] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 14 points 3 weeks ago

They should promote him, its much better now.

Making art with art 👌

[-] rumba@lemmy.zip 13 points 3 weeks ago

Should have used googly eyes

[-] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 weeks ago

It was his first day, he only had the pen in his pocket.

And what have we learned, kids?

Always carry a pocketful of googly eyes!

[-] boaratio@lemmy.world 12 points 3 weeks ago

I think it makes it better.

[-] Feyr@lemmy.world 10 points 3 weeks ago

They misspelled improved

[-] Jikiya@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

Sweet, the Russian army gets more meat for it's grinder. You would think Russian serfs would be more careful about breaking the law during these mass sacrifice times.

[-] AMillionMonkeys@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

You should use Linux.

[-] brown567@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

He was actually a veteran with significant injuries, so he's already been through the grinder

[-] Linktank@lemmy.today 4 points 3 weeks ago

Both versions suck.

[-] BeardedGingerWonder@feddit.uk 3 points 3 weeks ago

Has he been arrested like those people with the harmless orange powder?

[-] ThatKomputerKat@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

Missed his calling, should have worked in a corrections facility.
