Accelerationism has worked every single time.

[-] SecondaryAnnetagonist 26 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

I love being called an acceptable loss, truly it will all be worth it when the ~~rapture~~ revolution comes.

Everyone knows the people most able to take power in the US if shit goes off kilter are the true leftists and not the batshit right wing crank militias that keep clogging up my ham radio.

[-] emeralddawn45@discuss.tchncs.de 33 points 4 months ago

Who cares about all the people America is currently hurting and has hurt in the past amirite? smug bullshit

[-] superniceperson@sh.itjust.works 12 points 4 months ago

Yes the tankie argument is to highlight those hurt people.

[-] superniceperson@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 months ago

If you keep putting shit covered bandages on a wound, you will stop the bleeding, and theoretically it's better than no bandage at all, but you're not fixing anything.

You will eventually need to cut away all the infected tissue and start serious reconstruction in order to save the area; but that all starts with stopping the people that insist the shit covered bandage is the only solution.

[-] frostysauce@lemmy.world 14 points 4 months ago

These are humans you're advocating for hurting.

[-] superniceperson@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 months ago

No, they're the embedded rot of society that insists itself is necessary for the healing process.

I mean I am advocating for hurting 'people,' if you consider capitalists and their supporters people, but they absolutely need to be hurt for the rest of us to have a chance of survival.

[-] frezik@midwest.social 10 points 4 months ago

You're not going to hurt them enough for any meaningful change. You're just hurting people under them.

[-] superniceperson@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 months ago

Hopefully, then they'll stop accepting getting stabbed in the face and do something about it after they start getting stabbed in the gut.

[-] frezik@midwest.social 7 points 3 months ago

That does not work. Accelerationism is a famously dumb policy.

[-] superniceperson@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 months ago

Well incrementalism objectively does not work, and electoralism does not work, so what's your strategy?

[-] frezik@midwest.social 6 points 3 months ago

Downvoting tankies on the Internet. Hurts fewer people.

Many trans people and disabled people on Benefits aren’t pro-trump. In fact those are some of the most leftist demographics. Yet they bear the brunt of the abuse under Trump.

[-] Doctor_Satan@lemm.ee 11 points 3 months ago

This requires precision and care. Trump is lopping off all the limbs with a dull hatchet while punching the patient in the face and laughing about it, and you're okay with it because there's a melanoma on the toe. Fucking psychotic.

From your other comment below:

I mean I am advocating for hurting ‘people,’ if you consider capitalists and their supporters people

They are people, regardless of your attempt to dehumanize them. Most people in the capitalist west just don't know that there are other ways to organize society, and instead of educating them and bringing them on board so we can change things, you've skipped all the way to "up against the wall", because you don't view others in the labor class as "people" unless they share your specific views. Again, fucking psychotic.

You need to read all 1469 pages of THEORY before we can even begin to have a conversation, libbity lib lib!

[-] MeaanBeaan@lemmy.world 28 points 4 months ago

Says they dislike trump more than Democrats do then proceeds to explain why they don't dislike trump more than Democrats do.

That checks out.

[-] socsa@piefed.social 25 points 3 months ago

I'll say it again, but "Dessalines" is legit in competition for the most cringe person on the Internet. Not only does he say shit like this all the time, but he's draped himself in the moniker of an actual freedom fighter who overcame actual adversity to liberate actual people. Truly, the struggle from his air conditioned computer chair is comparable.

[-] Tiger@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 months ago

He’s one of the original Lemmy creators right?

Okay they're being stupid about it (Trump is a liberal? C'mon) but they're right. The ends do justify the means in this case, because Americans have repeatedly failed to get to these ends via any other means. If America won't stop being imperialist, I'll settle for them being incompetently imperialist thank you. I mean don't get me wrong the best scenario is still for an anti-imperialist government to take power in America, but that doesn't seem awfully likely.

[-] Maeve@kbin.earth 13 points 4 months ago

Liberalism isn't just as defined by USA.

I can't say yet the ends justify the means. That depends whether what rises from the ashes is better or worse for the entire planet.

[-] twopi@lemmy.ca 7 points 4 months ago

You can only say "ends justify the means" if you can achieve the ends, otherwise you loose. The whole point of the saying is that the reaching the goal is the only important thing, how you get there does not matter. We'll have to wait and see if the destination will be reached.

[-] Maeve@kbin.earth 3 points 4 months ago

Yes, thanks for rephrasing.

[-] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 3 points 4 months ago

That depends whether what rises from the ashes is better or worse for the entire planet.

I don't know whether it'll be better or worse, but either way it'll be weaker. Assuming Trump has his way, it'll be a long time—if ever—before America can throw its way around the world like it does today. The web of alliances (read: army of accomplices) it uses to bully the Global South into submission is irreparably broken.

[-] njm1314@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

The weird thing is you could probably describe the Republican party as liberal for most of their existence but not anymore certainly. Certainly not the last 10 years. Trump's what killed that.

[-] OmegaLemmy@discuss.online 17 points 4 months ago

unironically Germany KPD supporting NSDAP to their rise be like

[-] segabased@lemmy.zip 8 points 3 months ago

As an American socialist who has to deal with the collapse into fascism there is no material reason for me to advocate for accelerationism

Maybe if we already had a basis for socialist revolution to save us it would make sense. But there isn't, collapse just means something worse is coming.

So socialists from other countries are cheerleading the collapse of us imperialism, which is objectively fair. But I also have to wonder how wise that is considering what I said above, the US isn't collapsing into a peaceful socialist state but instead a war hungry fascist state which does not put an end to imperialism but rather makes it more direct and brutal

Either way, tankies seem to only admire theory and countries that say they're socialist but actually aren't. If your idea of socialism does not expand the definition of democracy to the workplace all the way up, with recall of representatives where direct democracy isn't pragmatic, I don't think it's even worth considering as an alternative.

[-] Brutticus@lemm.ee 6 points 3 months ago

I dunno, Im no Tankie but I was filled with a certain amount of this. No one I know owns any stocks. I was very eager to see dumbfucks who voted for him lose everything, and rich assholes who supported lose something

[-] KombatWombat@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago

Most Americans own some stocks. Many working class people are relying on retirement portfolios that they've been building up for decades. If this causes another recession we're all going to pay.

[-] Brutticus@lemm.ee 3 points 3 months ago

Most do, sure, but it uneven. The higher the income, the higher the likelyhood of stock ownership. Do I have more in common with someone making 62k a year than someone making 100 mil? Sure. Do I understand conceptually that a recession would basically wiped me (and the entire lower class) out? Of course.

But please, understand my point.

[-] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 6 points 4 months ago

He's russian, anything for the fall of their enemy state is good.

[-] fxomt@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 4 months ago

He's a shithead but what's your claim for him being russian?

[-] UsernameHere@lemy.lol 9 points 4 months ago

I’ve been banned from lemmy.ml for stating that Russia invaded Ukraine.

They actively ban anyone who doesn’t support Russian propaganda.

[-] poVoq@slrpnk.net 7 points 3 months ago

He once shared that his Russian parents took him to Canada when he was ten or so.

[-] fxomt@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 3 months ago

Thanks. So he's not a russian resident, just born in russia.

[-] Snowpix@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 months ago

Surprisingly common attitude with Russians who move away from their homeland. They throw support behind the Russian regime and attack the West for everything despite living comfortably in Western countries, not having to suffer under the regime they love so much.

[-] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 3 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Is he not literally russian citizen? I swear i read it somewhere a year or so back. Or speculation maybe, because he seems to strongly support the invasion and has been actively deny russia's wrong doing. He's not just a shithead, he's more than that.

What is a Tankie?

Alternatively, a detailed blog post about Tankies.

(caution of biased source)

Basic Rules:

Sh.itjust.works Instance rules apply! If you are from other instances, please be mindful of the rules. — Basically, don't be a dick.

Hate-Speech — You should be familiar with this one already; practically all instances have the same rules on hate speech.

Apologia(Using the Modern terminology for Apologia) No Defending, Denying, Justifying, Bolstering, or Differentiating authoritarian acts or endeavours, whether be a Pro-CCP viewpoint, Stalinism, Islamic Terrorism or any variation of Tankie Ideology.

Revisionism — No downplaying or denying atrocities past and present. Calling Tankies shills, foreign/federal agents, or bots also falls under this rule. Extremists exist. They are real. Do not call them shills or fake users as it handwaves their extremism.

Tankies can explain their views but may be criticised or attacked for them. Any slight infraction on the rules above will immediately earn a warning and possibly a ban.

Off-topic Discussion — Do not discuss unrelated topics to the point of derailing the thread. Stay focused on the direct content of the post as opposed to arguing.

You'll be warned if you're violating the instance and community rules. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Bans typically only last 24 hours, but each subsequent infraction will double the amount. Depending on the content, the ban time may be increased. You may request an unban at any time.
