Lovingly referred to as "the wheely mcdeely" in my social circle

I've got a plastic version, but if I need to shred a block it hurts my hands after a while, because of how light it is.

I bought one of these to solve that problem (this also has a finer cylinder for a thinner grate):

If I ever need more than a pound, I can probably use the disc on my food processor, although the last time I tried, I didn't freeze my cheese prior, and ended up with a lot of smeared cheese on the disc 😬

I recently had an incident with a mandolin while slicing vegetables that required stitches. Can confirm.

Since no one seems to know they exist, a cheap food processor grates cheese and slices/dices vegetables perfectly for most dishes and sits right on your countertop. Saves so much time and prep work.

Does it? Seems like those are always more work to clean than just a simple grater, which is why I usually just go for the grater.

Blenders and food processors are easier to clean actually. You put water in them and just add a squirt of dish soap. Run it for a few seconds then rinse it out.

I only learned the trick a few years ago tbh. But it's a lifesaver haha

It depends on the volume you need. A food processor can shred an 8 ounce block in a few seconds. You will spend a bit more time cleaning, but it can save a lot of prep time if you need multiple blocks or lots of vegetables. I used one a lot more when I was meal prepping multiple dishes.

Bonus you can use the grater on your foot callouses

You can use a microplane grater to get information out of POWs who refuse to talk.

Just deny them the freshly grated nutmeg on their horchata until they spill the beans.

Depending on the cheese you can use a mandolin with a grater
