Summary

Elon Musk, under fire for massive layoffs and controversial political influence, is now complaining about Democrats celebrating Tesla’s stock crash.

At CPAC, Musk mocked job losses, but later whined about Tim Walz reveling in Tesla’s decline.

Public backlash is growing: protests have erupted nationwide, and a Yahoo News/YouGov poll shows 67% wouldn’t buy a Tesla—over half citing Musk as the reason.

With falling approval ratings and criticism over his influence on Trump, Musk faces rising opposition from Americans disillusioned by his actions and rhetoric.

Someone told me that the “fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy,” so you can go fuck yourself.

[-] pleasegoaway@lemm.ee 8 points 2 days ago

And that was such a dangerous thing to say.

Humans are social creatures. Empathy is a cornerstone of society.

We literally teach kids about empathy in preschool. Imagine being against teaching small children to understand how someone else feels. shivers

He’s lucky it’s not worse. Musk deserves everything coming at him and more. He could have shut the fuck up and quietly stayed rich. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

circa 2015 he could have held onto the ball and run out the clock. but he's desperate for people to adore him. it's the fundamental need he's never been able to fill ever since he was a kid. he's always been rich, but he's never been liked, not in any meaningful way, anyway. for a short time though, he tasted it. he was the environmentally friendly sports car guy. he was in marvel movies. people saw him as the genius who who would lead our advancements into a technological future.

but it wasn't enough for him. he's an addict. once he tasted adoration he needed another hit, so he joined Donald Trump's business council. it was there that he revealed too much of himself. we could all see how shallow, greedy, and awful he really is. and the adoration all dried up. he's been chasing that ever since and can't earn it back.

the reason he can't earn it back is that the djinni can never be put back in the bottle. we have seen the real him, and we can never unsee it. we've seen that a fully embodied elon vehicle is stupid and dangerous. we've seen that in his desperation to be a hero he'll call a real hero a pedophile. we've seen that his come up created a fundamentally twisted and racist creature.

but this broken man is an addict. he can never adapt and change and grow because he doesn't understand the world through that lens. instead of cultivating within himself the kind of person he would want to be friends with, he regurgitates 4chan jokes. or maybe worse, he has cultivated within himself the kind of person he would want to be friends with and none of us want to befriend him.

either way, he became unfixable when his net worth made it to his first million dollars.

he became unfixable when his net worth made it to his first million dollars.

Which was before he was born

[-] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 3 points 2 days ago

yup. wealth is a form of abuse

[-] qprimed@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago

that is a genuinely profound statement.

[-] HulkSmashBurgers@reddthat.com 13 points 2 days ago

Yeah pretty sure him anj his doge pack have broken some federal laws in the last couple months but they'll never go to jail for it.

Trump has immunity for giving out corrupt pardons. Literally no one is going to jail in connection to this criminal regime.

We have a national narcissism crisis.

The the age old Problem of Evil.

If we could somehow figure out how to cure Cluster B Personality Disorders, 90% of humanity’s problems would disappear overnight.

[-] tiefling 10 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I'd say legalizing shrooms might help, but then again Apartheid Edison is only inflating his ego with ketamine abuse so idk how effective that would be

[-] Photuris@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 days ago

Psychedelics have a counterintuitive tendency of making pre-existing clinical narcissism and sociopathy worse.

[-] Zoboomafoo@slrpnk.net 3 points 1 day ago

Psychedelics help you find out who you truly are underneath all the social conditioning.

Some people are assholes to the core and mushrooms reveal it.

[-] LanguageIsCool@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

For some people, if you keep achieving ego death, it just keeps coming back stronger

[-] qprimed@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 days ago

[-] rosco385@lemm.ee 10 points 1 day ago

The thing that pisses me off the most about all of this is Edolph Muskler is giving ketamine a bad name with his ridiculous behavior.

[-] mrslt@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

Wait, he wants empathy, now? I'm confused.

[-] leaky_shower_thought@feddit.nl 14 points 2 days ago

[-] MehBlah@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Typical narcissistic whining. Mocks any misfortune that befalls others. Then they whine like a two year old who get told they can't have another piece of candy when its their misfortune.

[-] bingBingBongBong@lemm.ee 4 points 2 days ago

The good thing is that all of these fascists are so hateable.

It is going to be easy to gaddhafi them

[-] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

Empathy is weakness. Its patriotic to not care about a billionaire.

[-] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 3 points 2 days ago

Hate to tell him, but a lot of Republicans hate him, too.

Ah, who am I kidding? I love telling him that.

[-] SouthEndSunset@lemm.ee 2 points 2 days ago
