This way none of them will pay taxes anymore and then the fascists can say "look, they don't pay taxes, just leech off yours!"

Exactly, and centrists will shrug their shoulders and say "well if they aren't going to pay taxes, do they really deserve to be here?" and be completely clueless to how blatantly hateful this is.

While allowing the right to direct the narrative that tiny, poor individuals not paying taxes anymore is the cause of unbalanced budgets rather than military waste, medical murder, and corporations and the ultra wealthy paying close to no taxes while having all the money.
