well, if anyone still needed proof this is a racist thing, here it is. its not about legal status, its about non-white people.

most of us already knew.

removing 500,000 employees/customers from the economy, sounds like Trump is pushing for recession in more than one way

[-] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 32 points 4 months ago

I can't help but wonder what the plan is to replace those employees.

That's 500k highly motivated dedicated employees.

Are they going to make a slave class out of homeless people, substance abusers, people with mental health disorders, et cetera?

Maybe invite the same people back on much worse terms. Indebted servitude with no pathway to citizenship.

[-] catloaf@lemm.ee 34 points 4 months ago

Going to? Have you been living under a rock where there is no private prison industrial complex? They've been jailing people and using them for slave labor for centuries.

[-] CitizenKong@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago

Yep, concentration camps in Nazi Germany were first and foremost work camps. When their slaves I mean prisoners with jobs didn't die fast enough from exhaustion, only then did they turn into death camps.

[-] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 18 points 4 months ago

They literally sent over 150 people to a slave labor camps without due process against a judge's explicit orders.

[-] postmateDumbass@lemmy.world 9 points 4 months ago

A) a slave class? Yes.

B) also robots.

[-] rumba@lemmy.zip 3 points 4 months ago

Destroy social security. Price houses out of reach for old people the old people work in the fields until death.

[-] rumba@lemmy.zip 5 points 4 months ago

Our birth rate is already so low or in danger. Any country not allowing migrants in is toast

[-] natecox@programming.dev 90 points 4 months ago

GOP: “We only want to deport the illegals, if they want to be here they should do it legally”

Immigrants: “ok, we’ll come on this program specifically designed to allow a legal pathway to citizenship”

GOP: “No not like that!”

Y'all better start learning to garden. The crops are going to be rotting in the fields this year. And no country is going to be interested in shipping any in. Ya know, tarrifs and friendly with russia and such.

Well, that's just a new level of fucked up cruel. Their plan from the start, but certainly not the last.

I'm out of swears at the moment. Care to lend me some?

[-] Chozo@fedia.io 36 points 4 months ago

I really wish somebody would stop him.

[-] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 30 points 4 months ago

It's truly a shame how much difference two inches can make

[-] FelixCress@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

That's what she said.

[-] Freshparsnip@lemm.ee 25 points 4 months ago

What say the people who were saying he's only deporting people who were here illegally? They called us irrational for thinking he'd strip legal immigrants of their status. Next, he'll try to take citizenship away from citizens.

[-] Botanicals@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago

That is absolutely next. Watch who the news stirs up controversy against and they will be the next target. Venezuelans are a good example of this because there were several news campaigns to tarnish them last year that are fueling the hate now.

[-] lunar17@lemmy.world 24 points 4 months ago

The Department of Homeland Security said it will seek the arrest and deportation of those subject to the policy change if they fail to depart the U.S. in the next 30 days. Officials are urging migrants to use the newly repurposed CBP Home smartphone app to register for self-deportation.

"Please use our smartphone app to register with the gestapo" isn't the cyberpunk future I wanted.

Fuck that! If they are going to pull this shit then make THEM have to pay to transport you.

[-] rimu@piefed.social 18 points 4 months ago

...they'll transport you to a black site in El Salvador, tho.

[-] TonyOstrich@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

All 500,000? They have a lot of space, but not that much.

[-] catloaf@lemm.ee 7 points 4 months ago

Then they'll eliminate the prisoners least able to work to make room for the fresh ones.

[-] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

And they’ll convince a few that they’re special and should totally betray their kind and switch sides, before being leopard food (just like the nazis did for a few jews that worked for them)
