The old "fire them all and then rehire them and add them to the job creation numbers" gambit.

I don't believe them.

Imagine all the money that could have been saved by simply not doing that

Imagine thinking it was ever about saving money

Yeah, the fact that they're immediately putting these workers the courts are forcing them to rehire onto administrative leave (where they still get paid but just aren't allowed to do any work) is a pretty clear demonstration it's just about stopping the government from doing things Republicans don't like

And about flexing how much a fake department with fake officials can get away with while the public does nothing to stop them- it’s a demoralization tactic.

This still works for Elon. He'll just say they tried to streamline the government and save money but the Democrats wouldn't let them.

The Democrats need to start strategically badmouthing and disrupting DOGE otherwise all the blame will be placed on them.

What's that? Peering over their half-moon glasses to express their mild regrets at consenting to everything the Republicans demand? Yes, Democrats can do that, and even hold a small sign saying "I continue to have doubts about this" while they do it.

This is some 7d chess. They're going to run federal workers on a jury duty system, everyone gets a group number and you call every Monday to find out if you need to come in.

Not wild enough, needs more Calvinball and Squid Game. You'll be presiding over court cases of other fires employees but to stay employed you have a quota of terminations to fill while jumping rope.

[-] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 11 points 12 hours ago

There’s no waste rehiring fired staffers. None.
