This has been a constant problem with this monument and will continue to be a constant problem because of its premise.

Tear it down and build something else.

How big would the “Victims of Capitalism” monument be?

"Nooooo you can't blame all these work related accidents on capitalism!!! They were isolated cases caused by specific companies!!!" - some dude I debated on Facebook, circa 2014

It will have roughly a diameter of 12'700 km.

At this point isn't this monument just a blatant anti-communist propaganda piece? If the people this monument honors are Nazis, then maybe building it at all was not a good idea.

Imagine if they try to save the monument and replace it with one with no names on it. Lol.

If the people this monument honors are Nazis,

One name of a Nazi collaborator was found there. It's absolutely ridiculous to leap from that to "this is a monument honoring Nazis."

Millions of people were killed by Stalin. It's little wonder that a few objectionable names might be scattered among them.

Millions of people were killed by Stalin

Ok, but was Stalin a communist? Because the USSR sure as hell didn't seem like a classless, stateless society

[-] alcoholicorn@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago

At least one of them was killed for collaborating with nazis. Why did Stalin kill the rest of them?

[-] Zorque@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

Cause Stalin was an autocratic douchebag who used people for his own power games?

Doesn't really have a whole lot to do with communism, though.

So there was more than one autocrat in charge? Like... some sort of... oligarchy or something?

You need more than a dozen or so "leaders" for communism... or, to be accurate, you need none.

[-] alcoholicorn@lemmy.ml 1 points 11 hours ago

Those leaders were all elected, as were all but the lowest level of the communist party. Nearly every communist party is structured this way.

[-] FreudianCafe@lemmy.ml 23 points 1 day ago

Turns out lots of nazis [collaborators] are victims of comunism

[-] K0W4LSK1@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 18 hours ago

Yeah its technically correct lol

I can't read the article because of their goddamn newsletter signup form that they won't allow me to close! 😵

[-] K0W4LSK1@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 18 hours ago

[-] Showroom7561@lemmy.ca 2 points 19 hours ago

[-] Showroom7561@lemmy.ca 1 points 16 hours ago

Thanks. I'm able to view the article through that link. That stupid bright cyan newsletter box is still at the top, and I still can't close it, but it doesn't get in the way of the article. LOL
