So he's planning to rig the mid term elections.

[-] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 138 points 1 month ago

Same as all the elections since Republicans stole the 2000 election. Voters suppression and misinformation propaganda have kept them in the spotlight.

I am confident that this most recent election was rigged simply based on how nothing has been reported on invetigations of the areas where the election deniers were running the show and Republicans are constantly projecting their worst behavior. The fact that they claim prior elections were stolen is a solid sign they were planning on stealing one and this would be the one because it aligns with Project 2025.

They will absolutely be leaning into more voter suppression and will be emboldened to alter the actual vote counts themselves to make it look like their voting ratio is even higher.

[-] ripcord@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

Yes, this will be outright vote manipulation. Russia-style.

So he's planning to ~~rig~~ cancel the mid term elections.

[-] SnotFlickerman 25 points 1 month ago

Yeah way more likely he's going to use mass protests as a pretext for Martial Law and canceling elections indefinitely.

[-] laurelraven@lemmy.zip 18 points 1 month ago

He accused Zelenskyy of this, which to me says he'll definitely do it himself

[-] Alenalda@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

Tinfoil hat time, but im more concerned that some kind of false flag would happen on a boarder city. Kill a lot of people, blame it on migrants, close the border, declare martial law, cancel elections.

An American Reichstag fire

Maybe, but I think it's more likely they'll want some pretense of legitimacy and rig them instead of cancelling them altogether.

It has been for years, especially if all this info about the extremely insecure voting machines, starlink, ballot manipulating code, stingrays, etc is true, which it seems to be.

I cannot for the life of me understand why none of the dems in power are talking about this election being fixed. Other countries have spoken up about the same thing happening to them. At least one has demanded new elections. There seems to be plenty of evidence that this happened in the U.S., so why would they refuse to acknowledge it? Do they think people won't believe them? They keep trying to play by rules that conservatives have long since abandoned. I just don't understand anything anymore.

[-] laurelraven@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 month ago

Because they spent the last four years with the conservatives falsely claiming it for 2020 and want to look like they're taking the high road by accepting the results and making a big show about doing a peaceful transfer of power

[-] PagingDoctorBeat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 month ago

Which is such a mind numbingly stupid strategy it literally hurts my brain. If there's evidence, follow it. God I hate this.

85% of all counties in America

Empty land doesn't vote, you moron. You can be 2000 counties up and only win by a couple million votes, because rural counties are... rural.

[-] throwback3090@lemmy.nz 66 points 1 month ago

Empty land does, in fact, vote...under the racist system that our founding slaveholders pushed for.

If your state isn't green, call your state representative (bonus: the one more likely to give a shit)

[-] stickly@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

The fact that compromised states like Texas and Florida are pending makes me think this will be a mechanism for right wing fuckery.

Oops, turns out that all of these states controlled by the GOP voted 100% republican with no oversight from the feds. Hand over your EC votes please 🫴

According to the US election system empty land absolutely does vote. That is largely how you got into this whole mess in the first place.

[-] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

According to the popular vote, yes. But the popular vote hasn’t mattered for many, many years. Of the many things Trump has shone a spotlight on, this has been the most blatant.

e: It only sways the results if enough members of the EC are more afraid of the populace than the party leadership.

"Government declares Democratic party a terrorist organization " Jails all members"

That would be straight out of Hitler's playbook, so I wouldn't be surprised.

[-] DoucheBagMcSwag@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 1 month ago

What's wrong with DM? Serious question

[-] exploitedamerican@lemm.ee 22 points 1 month ago

The same website that posted an article yesterday calling luigi mangione supporters sick for lining up to see a killer they idolize right in the title of the “article” ? its a fucking neo lib conservative corporate turd cutter tongue punching rag. Fuck the dm. Fuck 90% of corporate owned propaganda outlets out there. Ever since regan and then bush senior killed the fairness in media doctrine journalism has almost entirely evaporated and been replaced with boot licking shills cosplaying as journalists

[-] DoucheBagMcSwag@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 1 month ago
[-] exploitedamerican@lemm.ee 7 points 1 month ago

I don’t think you should be downvoted for your genuine ignorance to the situation. But now that you have been educated to the reality you should really work harder to educate yourself as to the mechanisms of propaganda that have embedded themselves in the institutions we have been conditioned to believe are the representatives of journalistic integrity which supposedly stand to speak truth to power as we enter into an obvious age of technocratic fascism masquerading as (neo)liberal democracy. A sham form of democracy has never been democratic since liberal democracy fights tooth and nail against economic democracy making it a de-facto class dictatorship nothing more, nothing less.

Everyone needs to be contacting their reps about election security. It's obvious the last election was rigged, and they are confident they can do it again with money or otherwise. We should all be in the ear of our elected officials about improving election security, because it starts at the county level.

[-] JVT038@feddit.nl 19 points 1 month ago

Not surprising tbh.

I'm expecting him to falsely claim election fraud tomorrow after the exit polls in Germany close. If the result isn't AfD at 99%, he'll probably demand new elections and/or only recognize Weidel as Chancellor instead of Merz.

Looking over the Daily Mail (ugh), it sounds more like he expects a red wave. He says we're in for a surprise, but that's the kind of shit they always say.

That's not to say they won't reuse their bullshit playbook (lies, voter intimidation, etc) but so far the most pressing issue we have in the midterms in all states are just milquetoast neolib Democrats running the party, likely to thumb the scales on primary season yet again. You raise the energy of the opposition and the opposition will practically camp overnight in line to cast a vote (and volunteer to vote count, etc).

[-] errer@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

Half serious question: can Trump order state borders to be modified? He wouldn’t be creating/destroying a state…I really don’t know the practical limits of presidential power anymore.

[-] Nollij@sopuli.xyz 22 points 1 month ago

He absolutely does not have the authority, nor is there anyone at the federal level to do so.

But it doesn't mean he won't try anyway, or that anyone would stop him.

(The rare occasions of a state possibly splitting have come from within the state itself)

Probably fElon has Big Balls figuring out some way to fuck with anyone that might vote against the redcaps in the mid terms.

[-] gamer@lemm.ee 7 points 1 month ago

Republicans should be worried about which sub-group of theirs will become the next target of this bully's wrath if the democratic party really does dissolve. The only thing this guy has ever done policy-wise is organize hate around groups of people. He's not just going to turn into a positive and productive president if the country goes fully red. When inflation reaches the point of no return, and there are no democrats to point the finger at, who will he target next?

[-] 1482elmst@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Why is he just going to have us all killed 🤦‍♀️?
