Moderation has gotten out of control on the internet, where people abuse their powers to perpetuate narratives they like while censoring ones they don't.

Where can I find lemmy instances that support freedom of speech? It's fine if you don't like it or have issues with it (feel free to move on without a reply!)

Update: Thanks to the recommendation of @occultist8128@infosec.pub, I checked the blocked instances of lemmy.world and found https://welppp.com/

I just came across it, so it may not actually support freedom of speech, but it looks promising.

If anyone has alternatives, still feel free to share them 🙂

Pick a few Lemmy instances and look at their instance block lists. Compare the lists and pick out the commonly blocked instances. Within that select group you will find some radical free speech places where anything goes. Be warned that they tend to be cesspits.

If you want to spout conservative conspiracy theories Truth Social will have you.

Please understand that “freedom of speech” does not mean that your speech is more important than the next persons. If you decide to start spewing hateful, racist, bigoted shit, the next person has the right to tell you to fuck off and block you, or ban you if it’s their instance. This isn’t treading on your freedom of expression or suppressing your speech, this is simply the other person exercising their right to not have to hear your shit and choosing instead to show you the door.

For example, if you invite someone into your home and they start spouting shit, you have the right to show them the door as you don’t have to listen to them go off in your home and around your guests. Similarly if you’re banned for not following the rules of an instance you’re not “being suppressed” you’re just a cunt.

Want to talk shit from a realm of safety without being called out? Do it from your own home where people don’t have to be around you. Make your own instance, or find a like-minded cesspool willing to put up with you.

Not the point of this thread.

If you don't have an answer, feel free to move on somewhere else.

[-] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 27 points 13 hours ago

Damn that was a quick reply.

Don’t particularly care about the point of your thread.

Simply providing context since you seem to be confused as to why you can’t find a home based on your replies in this thread.

Don’t particularly care about the point of your thread.

That's fine, I'm just going to ignore you then.

Goodbye.

Here at db0 is about as free as you can get...

EXCEPT.

If your definition of "free speech" is "I want to be racist or homophobic", which I suspect this is, go kick rocks loser.

[-] BlueEther@no.lastname.nz 12 points 12 hours ago

I suspect that much of lemmy runs on this rule "Lastly, Don’t be a dick", I know that my instance and the other *.nz do.

@prodajvodapavel@aggregatet.org Don't be a dick, and you should be fine - if you want to be then (as @empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com said) go kick rocks

[-] prodajvodapavel@aggregatet.org 6 points 14 hours ago

I'm interested in servers where other people are allowed to express their views, bigoted as they may be.

go kick rocks loser.

If you don't have an answer, you could always move on to another thread instead of insulting me. Reported.

[-] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

bigoted as they may be.

You are not welcome here or at any other instance then. Report me all you want.

If you truly want your bigoted Freeze Peach, go ahead and start up your own instance. See how long it lasts before every other major instance cuts you off- if you can figure it out, lemmy is notoriously hard to run right.

Reported.

Lmao how free speech of you!!!1!1!!

[-] scrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.tech 7 points 5 hours ago

Reported

Ow his free speech is hurting me! Authorities!

[-] unmagical@lemmy.ml 55 points 13 hours ago

This is the most ironic comment ever.

[-] blindbunny@lemmy.ml 20 points 13 hours ago

Fucking ~~best~~ worst of Lemmy shit right there

[-] prodajvodapavel@aggregatet.org 3 points 13 hours ago

This isn't one of those instances.

[-] unmagical@lemmy.ml 20 points 13 hours ago

Sure it is.

And even if it weren't that doesn't make your comment about you getting butt hurt from someone telling you to be better for seeking out where you can be a bigot any less ironic.

Whatever your goal is, there most likely is no such instance that satisfies your definition of "freedom of speech". You should run your own instance where you have full control. Since most instances wouldn't federate with such an instance, a relatively cheap VPS will do. Even some old computer you may have lying around.

[-] prodajvodapavel@aggregatet.org 2 points 12 hours ago

That's okay, it doesn't have to be perfect.

Trying to split hairs on what is and is not free speech is just a distraction 🙂 which is why people who don't like free speech always want to argue about it.

[-] deadcatbounce@reddthat.com 3 points 8 hours ago

Well said.

Left leaning values never implement freedom of speech. I have never understood that. The older I get - and I'm old - the more liberal I get.

I can't actually become liberal because liberal excludes debate.

[-] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 12 points 11 hours ago

There was a Nazi community you might have enjoyed, but they shut down because that's what Twitter is for.

[-] unmagical@lemmy.ml 24 points 13 hours ago

Pretty much any Lemmy instances I suspect supports freedom of speech. There's not really any evidence that admins are colluding with the feds to control what you say.

What may be happening is admins deciding of their own volition to not platform certain types of comments. Notably that doesn't stop you or anyone else from saying whatever; it just means you gotta do it somewhere else, like your own instance.

[-] unmagical@lemmy.ml 36 points 13 hours ago

Perhaps you should rephrase your post then to indicate you're actually interested in bigotry affirming instances instead of instances that refrain from being a government entity that controls expression.

They are different.

Moderation has gotten out of control on the internet, where people abuse their powers to perpetuate narratives they like while censoring ones they don't.

As long as you dont be a dick or be racist you won't be censored.

What type of things do you think are censored on lemmy?

I checked the blocked instances of lemmy.world and found https://welppp.com/ I just came across it, so it may not actually support freedom of speech, but it looks promising.

Yikes... You sure about this OP?

long string of images

And that's just one unbanned user.

[-] prodajvodapavel@aggregatet.org 3 points 14 hours ago

That's not true, but I'm not here to debate it.

If you people don't have an answer, feel free to move on to another thread.

[-] fxomt@lemm.ee 19 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

Again, please answer: What type of things do you think are censored on lemmy? Note i'm not trying to assume anything about you, i'm genuinely asking.

Stay away from lemmy.ml and you'll mostly be fine.

Then there is none, at all. You won't find it on the fediverse, the closest thing to what you described is 4chan.

[-] occultist8128@infosec.pub 16 points 13 hours ago

actually, there are many servers that are purely free speech but they mostly are defederated.

[-] fxomt@lemm.ee 6 points 13 hours ago

I didn't know that, thanks. But since most are defederated that kind of defeats the whole point. Makes sense though.

[-] prodajvodapavel@aggregatet.org 3 points 13 hours ago

That's disappointing.

It seems like the decentralized nature of the fediverse would encourage instances that go against the grain to exist.

I'm still holding out that the instances are out there, just being suppressed by those who hate freedom of speech.

[-] occultist8128@infosec.pub 9 points 13 hours ago

there are many actually, what you're looking for are mostly defederated since it's pure free speech and has no limit. just look after it on google.

I checked the blocked instances of lemmy.world and found https://welppp.com/

Looking at the trust and safety about the instance, and reading your replies, it sounds like it will be the perfect fit for you.

[-] prodajvodapavel@aggregatet.org 2 points 13 hours ago

Gonna ignore you now since you don't have anything useful to contribute.

Goodbye.

[-] peregrin5@lemm.ee 3 points 13 hours ago

Freedom of speech? No such thing anywhere.

[-] prodajvodapavel@aggregatet.org 3 points 13 hours ago

Unfortunately, it's seeming more and more like that's the case 🙁

I'm still looking, though!

[-] peregrin5@lemm.ee 8 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago)

Freedom of speech never existed and as a rule can never exist. It's an idea that has never been and will never be a reality. This is not to agree or disagree with whatever speech you don't want censored. There is no place/time/environment where you can say whatever you want without some form of consequences from some subset of people.

Freedom of speech is and has always been a fantasy.

[-] prodajvodapavel@aggregatet.org 3 points 13 hours ago

I'm not here to argue with you.

If you don't have an answer and just want to debate what is or is not freedom of speech, feel free to move on to another thread.

[-] haverholm@kbin.earth 6 points 7 hours ago

This thread is such a beautiful example of freeze peach foghorns not giving a good damn about freedoms, they just want to force their bullshit on the biggest possible audience.

Gotta hand it to OP for the sizeable hole they dug themself in no time flat.

I hope you find it. Can you share if you did. I'm looking for something similar too

[-] prodajvodapavel@aggregatet.org 3 points 13 hours ago

I'll update this thread if I come across anything promising.

[-] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 3 points 14 hours ago

You can pay to get into communick.news or start your own instance.

[-] prodajvodapavel@aggregatet.org 3 points 13 hours ago

Thanks, but I'm not interested in paying to get in.

I would like an instance to be as open as possible. Restricting creating new communities to admins doesn't fly.

[-] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 5 points 13 hours ago

Honestly, it sounds like the best idea is to run your own instance. You can do it off of old, trash hardware.
