For clarification: this isn't new, from what I can tell in the article, they started the Robert E Lee holiday following the civil war, and MLK day came after.

If your local college has a Kappa Alpha chapter, it is basically a cult dedicated to worshipping Robert E Lee. He appeals to that “war between brothers” tragic story type of “Lost Cause” narrative, and is ridiculously popular among dominionist Christians.
I guess Robert E Lee losing was helpful, but I suspect they're just racists and not honoring him for being such a loser

AL and MS are radically different states. Teleport me to any road, small town or city, I'll tell you which state I'm in given a few miles or minutes.
Yeah one says roll tide and the other says hotty toddy and both are failed experiments in Republican leadership.
