To stop discussion from moving elsewhere
wouldn't discussions have to move elsewhere?
But they can delete any duplicate posts in their own sub to prevent comments.
People are content with having already seen the post to not seek it out
Because "y'all can't behave"
Eh, as a former Reddit mod, when the majority of comments are racism/transphobia, the easiest way to handle it is to lock the post.
Yeah, it’s kinda laziness, but when you have a life and don’t want to babysit a post for the next day… you don’t really have many options.
"ya'll can't regurgitate your corpo owner's opinions as your own"
To censor the lazy?
Don't get so haughty. Lemmy.world (based on the Netherlands) deletes posts and bans users that mention support for Luigi.
Earlier today I replied to a post on Lemmy.world about this problem, saw my post had many up votes and replied. But I couldn't respond to any of them because the post had been deleted by mods.
You are currently in a lemmy.world community. So was this post: https://lemmy.world/post/23467383
Lemmy.world has an issue with mods censoring totally legal conversations.
It's a problem going on right now
Why are you still on lemmy.world then? The freedom offered by federation is that you get a choice.
How do I change this account to a different instance?
Also can't the world admins just censor my comments no matter what instance i am a part of if I comment on a lemmy.world post?
You can't transfer (to the best of my knowledge), so you just start a new name on a different instance. I used to be on .world but hopped to Blåhaj for various reasons. When I want to reduce my internet drama for a bit, I block .world temporarily. It's great.
There are two sides to the coin, just as you can chose which instances to use, they're free to run their instance how they like, which is how it should be in my opinion. I think it's a bit strong to call it censorship; it's their website, their servers, and if enough people don't like it they can just not post there. This is the same freedom we had with old-style forums, because there was no monopoly in many cases you could select a forum based on if you liked how it was run.
You're right, they have moderation control over lemmy.world posts, but it's still your decision to post there. If you feel that strongly about it you can even chose an instance that doesn't federate with lemmy.world, they exist.
You'll have to sign up for a new account, yes, but is that a big loss? I mean there's no karma here, your existing posts and account won't go away, it'll just not be the main account you log into any more. I personally think it's not a bad idea to have accounts on a few instances, I've moved around through several.
legal
Good thing that you got a worldwide unambiguous concept here!
There's no country where saying "the Healthcare CEO dying was a good thing" is illegal to say
Drag was banned from c/news for "misinformation and trolling" when drag said Luigi isn't the shooter.
Surely it couldn't possibly be because Drag is a shit-stirrer that goes around causing drama. At this rate I'm surprised Drag isn't banned from more communities.
Y'alls fragile progressivism is always so funny.
I personally haven't seen you stir all that much shit, and sometimes the shit needs a good stirring anyhow.
I'm not drag, but I do believe in dragon solidarity
Oh shit, sorry! My attention to detail yesterday... It was not good.
First off: Fuck reddit Fuck spez. Second and more important: All he needs is 1 person to agree. 1, that's it.
Face only a mother could love.
Because you can't tell if it's locked until you open it and give up several ad hits.
Lol
UBlock Origin goes brrrrr
For me it used to be when I didn't notice it was locked and was trying to submit a well-crafted reply.
Because spez is scared that someone will come for him.
I have read Luigi's Mansion....
