To censor the lazy?

[-] Clbull@lemmy.world 39 points 8 hours ago

Because "y'all can't behave"

[-] KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 2 hours ago

Eh, as a former Reddit mod, when the majority of comments are racism/transphobia, the easiest way to handle it is to lock the post.

Yeah, it’s kinda laziness, but when you have a life and don’t want to babysit a post for the next day… you don’t really have many options.

"ya'll can't regurgitate your corpo owner's opinions as your own"

[-] dumbass@leminal.space 18 points 11 hours ago

Because spez is scared that someone will come for him.

[-] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 26 points 12 hours ago

Because you can't tell if it's locked until you open it and give up several ad hits.

Lol

UBlock Origin goes brrrrr

Don't get so haughty. Lemmy.world (based on the Netherlands) deletes posts and bans users that mention support for Luigi.

Earlier today I replied to a post on Lemmy.world about this problem, saw my post had many up votes and replied. But I couldn't respond to any of them because the post had been deleted by mods.

[-] dragonfucker@lemmy.nz 6 points 5 hours ago

Drag was banned from c/news for "misinformation and trolling" when drag said Luigi isn't the shooter.

[-] Snowpix@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 hour ago

Surely it couldn't possibly be because Drag is a shit-stirrer that goes around causing drama. At this rate I'm surprised Drag isn't banned from more communities.

[-] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 1 points 1 hour ago

Y'alls fragile progressivism is always so funny.

Lemmy.world has an issue with mods censoring totally legal conversations.

It's a problem going on right now

[-] marcos@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

legal

Good thing that you got a worldwide unambiguous concept here!

[-] DeadWorldWalking@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

There's no country where saying "the Healthcare CEO dying was a good thing" is illegal to say

[-] anothermember@lemmy.zip 9 points 8 hours ago

Why are you still on lemmy.world then? The freedom offered by federation is that you get a choice.

[-] DeadWorldWalking@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

How do I change this account to a different instance?

Also can't the world admins just censor my comments no matter what instance i am a part of if I comment on a lemmy.world post?

[-] samus12345@lemm.ee 3 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

https://join-lemmy.org/instances

Yes they can, but they can't fully ban your account.

[-] Reality_Suit@lemmy.world 57 points 15 hours ago

First off: Fuck reddit Fuck spez. Second and more important: All he needs is 1 person to agree. 1, that's it.

Face only a mother could love.

[-] Free_Opinions@feddit.uk 3 points 11 hours ago

Celebrating a murderer seems like a perfectly valid reason to lock a thread.

Hmm idk man. They were celebrating when Osama Bin Laden died.

[-] Free_Opinions@feddit.uk 2 points 10 hours ago

What does that have to do with this?

[-] Nfamwap@lemmy.world 27 points 9 hours ago

OBL was responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent people. Brian Thompson was responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent people.

The dots don't need much connecting.

deaths of thousands

More like millions

[-] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

This is why we should give way more credit to the hero who killed that monster Hitler.

Yea, maybe we should build a statue of that guy. 😉

[-] Free_Opinions@feddit.uk 1 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

Can't this same reasoning then be used to justify the murder of Obama?

[-] Default_Defect@midwest.social 11 points 5 hours ago

Did you think this was some kind of gotcha? Plenty of people would celebrate that all the same.

[-] Free_Opinions@feddit.uk 1 points 5 hours ago

Exactly. And they'd be no better than the people praising Luigi.

[-] Sebastrion@leminal.space 7 points 15 hours ago

I have read Luigi's Mansion....

[-] Chivera@lemmy.world 5 points 15 hours ago

Free speech

[-] DarkThoughts@fedia.io 4 points 14 hours ago

Because they don't want to bother moderating all the dumbos glorifying the murder.

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 27 points 14 hours ago

Glorifying the wrong kind of murder. If this had been a homeless guy on the subway getting strangled to death by someone the media felt comfortable venerating, Mangione would be sharing box seats with the Vice President right now.

[-] DarkThoughts@fedia.io 1 points 4 hours ago

Please show me an example where the glorification of a murder of a homeless person has been publicly accepted?

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 6 points 4 hours ago
[-] DarkThoughts@fedia.io 1 points 4 hours ago

The case sparked national debate, with some hailing Penny as a hero for attempting to subdue a man he considered a menace to public safety and others seeing him as a white vigilante who choked a Black man to death.

Some New Yorkers protested the trial outcome this week, holding signs and chanting Jordan Neely’s name in a Manhattan square.

Penny has been hailed a hero by many, but Neely’s death also divided the city as residents grapple with how to respond to mental health crises threatening public safety.

Do you people not read the shit you reference? Also, if you take this as an example and direct comparison, does that mean you think the murder of this guy was also justified? Does that mean you like the orange fascist?

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago

[-] DarkThoughts@fedia.io 1 points 4 hours ago

That's some prime cherry picking. lmao Just ignore the outcry and the consequence of your statement behind it. Alright, I guess we just go around and murder everyone who we want to now. Seems like that's what you all want.

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

Just ignore the outcry

These aren't mutually exclusive.

Alright, I guess we just go around and murder everyone who we want to now.

Our western judicial system is helping to define a group of people for whom it is acceptable to murder and a group for whom it is not. If you want to kill a vagrant on a subway, you're likely going to get away without serious consequences. If you kill a CEO, probably not.

[-] DarkThoughts@fedia.io 1 points 3 hours ago

These aren't mutually exclusive.

Oh? Where's the demonstrations against Luigi & for the murdered CEO? You pulled this one to be a counterexample for Luigi's case, but the reactions are clearly the opposite. There was a large public outcry in your example, only cronies like Trump commended it. With Luigi we have a somewhat large amount of public support, or at least a very loud one, and officials condone the act.

Our western judicial system is helping to define a group of people for whom it is acceptable to murder and a group for whom it is not. If you want to kill a vagrant on a subway, you're likely going to get away without serious consequences. If you kill a CEO, probably not.

You're not just comparing apples with oranges, but you're also arguing that it should be okay to murder both when you come to the defense of Luigi. Either you justify murder, or you don't. You're just playing the same dirty games that people like Trump play in order to justify that it is okay to murder certain people over others. Be better.

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Where’s the demonstrations against Luigi & for the murdered CEO?

In every major newspaper and corporately financed podcast on the content. We are bombarded by Atlantic headlines and CBS News Updates with wailing anchors and op-ed writers denouncing Luigi from the top of their lungs.

You’re not just comparing apples with oranges

Of course not. Poor people and rich people are entirely different species of people.
