With his attorney in tow, Rudy Giuliani traveled to Mar-a-Lago in recent months on a mission to make a personal and desperate appeal to former President Donald Trump to pay his legal bills. By going in person, a source familiar with the matter told CNN, Giuliani and his lawyer Robert Costello believed they could explain face-to-face why Trump needed to assist his former attorney with his ballooning legal bills.

He doesn't love you back no matter how much you want him to.

Is that directed at Rudy or Don Jr?

And MAGAts too! There's no one Trump despises more than his blue collar followers.

RICO Suave is gonna flip. If he hasn’t already.

[-] PunchingBag@kbin.social 23 points 1 year ago

Rudy has gained huge amounts in the shadows that we have not ever heard about. His accounts in Lichtenstein and the Caymans are probably pretty fat and happy these days, and not even RICO can touch that. I wouldn't count on this being anything other than more distraction.

Asset rich, cash poor. Well, legal cash anyway.

[-] Sanity_in_Moderation@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

He won't flip for money. But he would flip to avoid jail time. If it really looks like Giuliani is going down he'll turn on Trump.

Remember this is the guy that got Sammy Gravano to flip on Gotti because Gotti was going to throw him under the bus.

There is nothing suave about RICO Gravy

Oh, what a great reference. And now that fucking song is stuck in my head for what will likely be days, you monster.

The Idiot stiffed the lawyers who defended him for stiffing his previous lawyers.

With emotional distance this will be endlessly hilarious. But living through it, in real time, I am pulling my hair out.

To put a modern twist on an old saying: lie down with grifters, get up with fees.

Which bills? The ones that Trump has to pay for "services" rendered by Guiliani, or the ones that Guiliani now has stuck on him because he needs a lawyer for being a Trump-Lover?

This is the best summary I could come up with:

With his attorney in tow, Rudy Giuliani traveled to Mar-a-Lago in recent months on a mission to make a personal and desperate appeal to former President Donald Trump to pay his legal bills.

By going in person, a source familiar with the matter told CNN, Giuliani and his lawyer Robert Costello believed they could explain face-to-face why Trump needed to assist his former attorney with his ballooning legal bills.

Giuliani’s trip to Mar-a-Lago, which has not been previously reported, indicates the level of financial stress that he has been facing for months, as his legal troubles have continued to pile up.

Giuliani sat down voluntarily with special counsel Jack Smith’s investigators this summer, and he was indicted this week in Georgia by the Fulton County district attorney.

CNN reported on Tuesday that Giuliani is staring down hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal bills and sanctions amid numerous lawsuits tied to his false claims that the 2020 election was rigged.

His attorneys have said in court that these legal quagmires have left him effectively out of cash and that he “cannot afford” a potentially $15,000 to $23,000 bill to pay for more discovery-related document searches.

I have no pity for the man, but lol at our legal system "Help, I'm too poor to go along with being indicted!" (Which probably is a crime, too)

[-] Hairyblue@kbin.social 19 points 1 year ago

Trump will have to pay Rudy's bills. They did crimes together. Rudy will flip if he has too. Rudy has lost everything supporting Trump. Rudy may realize that. Right Rudy?

[-] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Even if it's true that Rudy would flip, Trump doesn't know what consequences are. Trump has never had to face real consequences. He might learn after these cases go to court, but it might not matter as he might spend the rest of his life in prison.

[-] athos77@kbin.social 7 points 1 year ago

Rudy's net worth is like $40-45 million, he's in no danger of going broke. He just didn't want to have to sell one of his houses / apartments.

[-] Dagwood222@lemm.ee 14 points 1 year ago

Time to roll like Sammy the Bull.

Roll, Rudy, roll!!

Pay my bills.... or else I'll flip "????

That sounds like the subtext of "how paying Giuliani’s bills was ultimately in Trump’s best interest".

[-] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Or good way to disappear. Telling Trump you're going filp in person sounds like a bad idea.

[-] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

I don't think Trump has the guts to disappear anyone. He might make vague statements and hope his cult fills in the blanks and acts, but he distanced himself from his own coup while it was still in progress.

Now if Rudy threatens to flip on the Russians, that could be a different story. If the Russians feel like they can afford to do anything to popular American figures, that is.

[-] ArugulaZ@kbin.social 7 points 1 year ago

Good luck, dummy. A promise from Donald Trump is worth the toilet paper it's written upon.

[-] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

But what has surprised those in Trump’s inner circle is the former president’s unwillingness to pay for Giuliani’s bills

Really?
