Today, Celine Dion's management team and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., became aware of the unauthorized usage of the video, recording, musical performance, and likeness of Celine Dion singing "My Heart Will Go On" at a Donald Trump /JD Vance campaign rally in Montana. In no way is this use authorized, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use. ..And really, THAT song?

I get the Titanic connection with his campaign. Hey Vance, you better realize now there will not be enough room on that door for Trump and you.

JD will just find a couch to mount.

Edit: not coach

Or a dolphin.

[-] Wytch@lemmy.zip 9 points 3 months ago

Door? If his campaign is the Titanic, once it hits the iceberg he'll be on the first and most luxurious lifeboat alone, with only his next nearest unindicted oarsman.

[-] thisbenzingring@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 3 months ago

Lifeboat=Russia

[-] Spezi@feddit.org 4 points 3 months ago

They don‘t need the door. Fat floats by itself.

[-] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

I think his connection is more with the dude falling and bouncing off the propeller while the Wilhelm Scream plays on the soundtrack.

[-] mp3@lemmy.ca 99 points 3 months ago

Slam his campaign with a lawsuit then.

[-] ptz@dubvee.org 60 points 3 months ago

Right? If they're fine suing a grandma whose grandkids got a song from Napster (and lost them $0 of actual sales), then suing a campaign using it publicly should be a no-brainer, slam dunk.

[-] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 28 points 3 months ago

I don't know if it's the case with her specifically, but most popular musicians don't actually own their own music, so they don't have any legal recourse.

That's why the Mango Mussolini isn't being sued by musicians left and right: almost all popular music in the world is owned by two or three conglomerates whose CEOs play golf with Trump or someone in his inner circle.

[-] Aphelion@lemm.ee 10 points 3 months ago

They never make a lawsuit their opening move, first it's a cease and desist, but don't count on Sony Music Canada to do nothing.

[-] SirNameHere@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

Probably not worth their time considering the long line of people wait for the Trumps to pay their debts.

[-] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 1 points 3 months ago

How many slams can a person survive?!

[-] akilou@sh.itjust.works 26 points 3 months ago

"Slams" or "sues" because only one of those will even have a chance of doing anything?

[-] Horsey@lemmy.world 21 points 3 months ago

Celine slams Trump? Will her heart go on? OMG I can finally share this in a relevant way lmao

Don't "slam"; sue.

[-] Fedizen@lemmy.world 9 points 3 months ago

I think the funniest part is the song choice

[-] nepenthes@lemmy.world 10 points 3 months ago

From the article:

″...And really, THAT song?” Dion’s management team quipped, spurring mocking social media posts about the Trump campaign using music from a movie about a sinking ship.

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Dion’s management team quipped

So it wasn't even Celine herself. It was just some schlub in her back office?

[-] tetris11@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 months ago

Thaank you!

"Sued" would at least be more entertaining. "Slams" just sounds like you're upset and there's nothing else you can do about it.

What do we have to do to get this shit removed from Lemmy? I just reported it, again. It's clear the community does not want this ironically biased spam.

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

The bot was enacted by lemmy.world admins in conjunction with the mods of News, Politics, and World News.

People can report it all they want, those reports are all ignored at this point.

[-] qarbone@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago

'Celine Dion'? Trump's added her to the list of "illegals" to deport

[-] werefreeatlast@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

Lady Gaga should perhaps preemptively pull Pocket Face off Trump dirty mind hands.
