Alle Jahre wieder.
This may be the germanest thing I’ve ever seen. An island named “jam” infested with rich people? Said rich people being literal gentry? And also literal nazis? And also there being a flock of the dirtiest, most disgusting punks you’ve seen to protest them? And the worst rags you’ve ever heard of being there to publicise the spectacle?
I’m not sure Germany is capable of doing anything to a normal degree.
Fahren die Punks wieder nach Sylt?
Ja, die Punks fahren wieder nach Sylt. Protestcamp ab gestern bis September :D
holidaymakers have complained of noise, rubbish and odour from the encampment, leading a court last year to order it be cleared ahead of schedule. Frank Deppe, a Sylt podcaster, recalled conflict between the protesters and local business owners including shouted insults and even fistfights.
This isn't a protest, it's just dudes wanting to go on a cheap vacation and drink. And I do mean dudes. I only see 3 women and 20 dudes in the pictures.
Rising housing prices have made it hard for locals, so these guys play music and chill outside? That's not a protest.
It's true you don't see many punk women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance, that they are often mistaken for punk men.
And this in turn has given rise to the belief that there are no punk women, and that punks just spring out of holes in the ground!
Which is, of course, ridiculous.
Punk women, much like punk men, have beards.
Or is that dwarves?
Bravo!
Gosh, playing loud music?
Leaving rubbish is annoying but considering who they're protesting the pollution they're causing isn't even comparable to the rich assholes on the island.
And, like, they're Germans, of course they're fucking drinking - Germany has a wide variety of beers, liquors and wines that are common staples.
This feels like an excellent non-violent protest.
I'm going to protest on the beach later next month. I think some time on the weekend when it's warm and sunny. Might enhance the protest by reading a book and listening to some music, then going swimming. I'm sure important social change will result.
I don't know if you've followed German news in recent months, but that island is notorious for rich kids coming there to party, and recently some videos have surfaced of them singing some veeeery racist songs, and everybody just going along with it. So yes, disturbing the summer holidays of rich racists is very much a protest, and if you're having fun while doing it, all the better. There'll be enough opportunities to throw bricks at cops and occupy old growth forests in the future
I'm sorry, you seem to be under the impression that having fun is inherently unproductive.
Tell me you don't know anything about German society without telling me you don't know anything about German society.
From a German perspective, punks camping on Sylt during the holiday season is a 100% fitting way to protest the far right, economic exclusion, and failure to act on climate change. Honestly they should make this a yearly thing, make it bigger, build a festival around it.
Excuse me, but have you not seen the shirt?
This is brilliant

Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
