The second guy was in the big bang theory and the third guy was in Dr. House, idk who the first guy is

[-] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 66 points 2 days ago

Sir or madam the third one is Kumar, he went to White Castle long before he applied to Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital

[-] homes@piefed.world 45 points 2 days ago

And then left that show to join the Obama administration. Seriously.

I was sure this was a troll when it happened, but no, it was real. Does anyone know if he did a good job?

[-] homes@piefed.world 21 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

As I recall, he was a perfectly competent staff member. I think he worked on the speechwriting team? It was a while ago, now, so I don’t remember most of the details.

Iirc, he only worked in the first Obama administration, and then returned to Hollywood. Apparently, having a perfectly normal job for four years was enough.

Office of public engagement and intergovernmental affairs.

[-] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 7 points 2 days ago

I believe Obama tweeted about it when he left and that he did

[-] MajorasTerribleFate@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago

So the White House didn't kill him off when he left there; that's good.

[-] xistera@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago

Slight spoiler for House if you haven't seen it.

spoilerThey had his character on House commit suicide to write him out of the show. It was very unexpected.

[-] homes@piefed.world 1 points 2 days ago

I’ve binged through the show a bunch of times, myself

[-] varden@lemmy.world 48 points 2 days ago

Kumail Nanjiani is a comedian and actor. He was in Silicon Valley and more recently he got shredded for Marvel's Eternals. He's pretty funny.

[-] Apepollo11@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

He's also in the Fallout TV series and the Obi Wan Kenobi series

[-] lobut@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 days ago

He was also in an episode of Community for the final paintball episode.

[-] zaphod@sopuli.xyz 5 points 2 days ago

Deputy Custodian Lapari, he's in at least one episode in season 5, Analysis of Cork-Based Networking, the paintball episode is season 6, Modern Espionage.

[-] grue@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

I almost read that name as "Kathy Najimy" (the actress from Sister Act and Hocus Pocus) just now.

Don't forget she's also Peggy from King of the Hill!

[-] nightofmichelinstars@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 days ago

And Rat Race, and The Scream Team, a Disney channel original movie where she, Tommy Davidson, and Eric Idle play sassy ghosts who collaborate with living children.

[-] AWistfulNihilist@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

So sad he got jacked for that movie, but at least he remained jacked.

[-] ltxrtquq@lemmy.ml 17 points 2 days ago

he got shredded for Marvel’s Eternals

Without your comment for context, I thought he was being blamed for how bad/mediocre Eternals was

[-] sem@piefed.blahaj.zone 8 points 2 days ago

This is also what i thought the comment meant

[-] AWistfulNihilist@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

That's funny, honestly his section with his manager was the best part of the movie. "He tried to kill me in me sleep!" "I thought he was a vampire!"

[-] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

"Shredded" as in he was raked over the coals for the movie's poor performance, or "shredded" as in he worked out extensively to get a superhero physique? I haven't seen Eternals, I just know it flopped.

[-] reminiscensdeus@eviltoast.org 14 points 2 days ago

Silicon Valley & Adventure Time are his best roles imo but he’s pretty prolific

[-] Crostro@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

He played, or voiced more accurately, prismo in adventure time. He's also a stand up comedian

[-] Broadfern@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

He’s genuinely one of my favorite voice actors. He added so much depth to AT

[-] Crostro@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

For sure. Idc what anybody else's opinion about that show was, it was so wholesome and amazing. And the ending was so good. Hiding that relationship between two female characters you'd already learned to love for who they are, understanding why bubblegum wouldn't accept finns absences suddenly making sense, huntress wizard, Jake and his family growth. What happened to humanity, finns struggle with honor, loyalty, and then finding out humans still exist? they really should make a movie. It was a little past my time, but once I watched it, I could see how its target audience could see that love is love, that nobody is wrong for being who they are, the actual important things to judge a person by isn't who they love, it's why they love and care about the people in their lives. So many subtle things about that show, as outrageous as it was, really showed that togetherness is what is so important.
