Long term virginity is sort of proof that you aren't likeable enough for someone to have sex with you.
It can be a bit of a downer when you realize that.
So no, it is important. But it is also important to not give up.
Took me til my thirties, and it gave me a confidence boost once it happened. Had to work on myself to make it happen.
Yuuuuup. Not letting your sex drive prevent you from seeing someone as the person they are is a big deal too.

It really isn't. Obtaining social capital, political engagement, and philosophical discussion is like way better and more important than sex can ever be.
Yeah I've been single a few years now and my life is much easier and more streamlined. I don't miss sex and have plenty of friends. We're kind of all expected to partner up and have kids and stuff but I just no longer want that.

So... I'm not an expert on the brain, but I love to read about mental health, and I've learnt that the brain craves that level of stimulation when things aren't right (outside, inside, or both). It may be an addiction, a cope for depression, hormonal imbalances, etc. Maybe many things at once. But I assure you the solution to boredom, the craves, the feeling of nothing being enough, and more, is not sex (not even relationships, although they might help when you're in your way to recovery).
Seeking a good health (mental and physical) is all we can do to feel good at the individual level, honestly. All other paths (fame, power, sex, drugs...) are really traps, or that has been my experience and the conclusion I also reach from my readings. I know it's not easy, not only emotionally but also on other aspects (money, finding the problems, finding solutions or treatments, etc.), but it's a bet you can place outside the Kurt Cobain option. I really think it's worth the tries (in plural, probably).

Why not just hire somebody? Like, I get that it isn’t ideal, but if you’ve gone a quarter century without intimacy and you desire it, it can be obtained with a little cash and a week of research.
I've got a funny story about that. We tried to call hookers with the boys, but got some weird dudes saying that they're gonna fuck us up. A few days later they indeed fucked us up. It's still a fucking mystery to me how they found us. Anyhow, it's hard to find anyone to pay here. Best bet are girls that fuck around, but it requires them liking you first and also spending money, and I never really got past the liking part. Maybe it's different in other places, I dunno.

I did not imply that at all. I said “ if you’ve gone a quarter century without intimacy and you desire it.” So, if 25 years pass and they desire, but are unable to obtain, a sexual encounter, they should simply hire someone rather than kill themselves, as the poster said they were considering.
I’m honestly at a loss for how you interpreted that as me saying they were looking for action as a child.
