To be fair, it's a lot easier to get what you need from a hooker than a psychologist.

Every sex worker I've had knew how to do their job, I can't say the same about the quacks.

Trauma therapy helped me a lot, speak for yourself. CBT is still over applied in my opinion, though, when other therapies are appropriate.

And don't ask for CBT from a hooker unless you know what your getting into.

CBT is often used to get you to gaslight yourself, which is more effective than getting others to do it for you.

Kinda snarky, kinda serious on this comment

Not sure you even read my anecdote at all, but thanks for sharing your /opinion/! And what a valuable and helpful one it is! I'd show you mine, but I don't wanna be a bitch.

That's because we don't really understand how brains work. Psychology is just barely coming out of the dark ages. You're going to run into a lot of psychologists who'll want to do the mental equivalent of balancing your humors or sticking leeches on you.

Yeah that's 100% fair, but I also think the medical field has massive issues of privilege and wealth disparity. Our capitalist society allows people without life skills and social experience to become medical professionals, causing them to provide inadequate care to the poor, disabled and elderly. I'm not saying it's everybody, most of them are good hard working people, but many in medicine lack the necessary empathy and life experience to deal with situations at work in a helpful way. That's why there is so much distrust and antipathy towards the field. IMO anyway.
