From the dude who endorsed Bernie Sanders in 2016. What happened Joe? You went through the batshit crazy alt-right pipeline during COVID didn’t you…

That’s probably a good explanation. Pretty much everyone of these podcasting guru type people start of centrist or leftcenter then once they start to mix with the big leagues and make lots of money, all of the sudden they become right wing figures.

Joe Rogan, Lex Friedman, Andrew Huberman, Bret Weinstein

Man, I miss the r/decodingthegurus reddit sub where we could make fun of and expose these dipshits.

What's stopping you from creating a community like that here?

[-] FundMECFSResearch 15 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I’ve already created around 6 communities and mod an extra two across this account and my alts so I kind of have my hands full here

Also if I had the energy to make and run a community I think one I’d love on lemmy is probably c/fivethirtyeight or c/guerrillagardening so I’d probably prioritise one of those.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 16 points 2 weeks ago

And there's a risk of a community like that blowing up overnight when you've already got a bunch of mod duties and you're the only mod in the new community.

As I have discovered.

Accepting applications, by the way.

[-] FundMECFSResearch 8 points 2 weeks ago

Congrats on that one.

Overnight success 😁

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

Thanks. Let's hope it doesn't keep me as busy as it has. The fact that I've had to add a 'no racism' rule already...

[-] FundMECFSResearch 6 points 2 weeks ago

Hopefully you can find a couple people to fill in the mod team.

If my experience on lemmy is worth anything, pretty much any community where the majority of posts are in picture formats, and where the content is accessible/understable to most, usually grows pretty quick.

Sigh, Lex Friedman used to be an interesting listen for financial stuff, and now he's just another MAGA loser spouting bullshit economics

[-] FundMECFSResearch 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

It pisses me off that these people get some of the most interesting people on earth to join their podcast and then all turn out to be MAGA arseholes.

I have to wonder who pays them and how much.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 32 points 2 weeks ago

Joe Rogan has made it very clear over the years that he believes whatever people he knows tell him without bothering to check for himself to see whether or not it's true.

So he may have actually had no idea what Bernie's platform was.

[-] FundMECFSResearch 9 points 2 weeks ago

He used to be pretty progressive and had Bernie on his podcast. He used to be in favour or medicare for all, legalising weed, etc.

idk where he stands now though.

[-] Zannsolo@lemmy.world 25 points 2 weeks ago

I believe his general position is fuck you I've got mine

[-] Leate_Wonceslace@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 weeks ago

Bernie was criticized a lot for going on the Joe Rogan experience.

[-] FundMECFSResearch 15 points 2 weeks ago

I listened to the man until around 2018, by then it was starting to get clear he was becoming increasingly “macho” and elitist so I stopped.

[-] cowfodder@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Same. Even saw him and Tony Hinchcliff live in Detroit at one point. Seems like he went hard right after moving to Texas.
