Second: I am happy to announce that we now have an offical matrix room ( https://matrix.to/#/#libertyhub:matrix.org)

I hope that you can all forgive me, I promise to eveyone that this community will remain a true left wing space for Liberty and workers liberation.

The genocide and deportation weren't bad before because 2020-2024 were The Biden Years, and everything was good during the Biden years. Nothing anti-queer happened those years either because A Democrat Was In Office, so just remember how good we had it then. Deporting and imprisoning immigrants wasn't bad during those years either because I'm sure Biden treated them nicely because he was a Democrat, and therefore, a nice person. Just like Harris, who was also nice. And Walz who only called the National Guard on Black protestors because he knew it was right for them, in all his wisdom as a Democrat.

But now. Now genocide is bad again because the onarge man is in office, the man who shits in a diaper and looks weird. Did I mention he's orange? And also fascist? Unlike Democrats, who are progressive in every way and never appear to be fascist. Don't you understand democrats only voted against trans people because we have to play The Game? We have to win the elections! We really, really want to win elections! We don't want to win so badly that we would stop supporting an unpopular genocide or deporting latinx people, but other than that ... we REALLY want to win you guys, so won't you please donate to us and vote harder for us in the future? We need to make an even bigger flashing globe next time to win so that people won't remember all the dead and dying brown children they saw in their feed, which again, was good because those were the Biden years, the Democrat years, as a reminder, therefore good!

And America good! We need to save America! Because America has only ever been good. We Civilized the indigenous people, put the black people to work, and don't forget that if you suspect your latinx neighbors of not showing enough party devotion to us, the Democrats, you should call ICE. Yes, you should call ICE just like they suggested on reddit and facebook because we need workers in this country and things haven't been so good since the 13th amendment, and we need to use that "except as" to our advantage. That's our goal. To reach across the aisle in a bipartisan effort to preserve the important things America really stands for.

So never forget how good things were during the Biden years and how bad things are now. In case you need some help, I've made a helpful flow chart:

Democrats -> good things

Republicans -> bad things

Now get out there and remember to tell people they're bots if they say bad things about The Party!

Okay so I'm showing off a bit here because my husband gave me the coolest book ever for Christmas. It's illustrated by N O Bonzo, and every illustration is something beautiful.

Of course, the full text is always free online, and it's one of my favorite books to recommend. An audiobook version is also free on YouTube. I used to listen to it when I was walking or longboarding. Just a warning though: Some of the verbiage he uses to describe indigenous groups is dated and offensive to most readers now. It's obvious that his intent is to combat the notion that was pervasive amongst his contemporaries that these were "lesser evolved" societies, but ... it's been a hot minute since I've read this, and the offending language has really stood out to me this time.

With that being said, I still feel like recommending this to people, and especially to those who still cling to the idea that anarchism or communism could never work due to "human nature," which is something that I've heard a lot. That's why I chose the quotation I did as the post title -- it really sums up the most important point of the entire text, in my opinion.

The foreward to this edition is excellent and provides some further context, and if there's enough interest maybe I can share some excerpts in the future.

Anyway, this book also has illustrations like this:

With little blurbs describing examples of mutual aid in action.

And the margins of the text are also illustrated:

I want to get some colored pencils so I can color while I'm sitting on the bus lol

Anyway, I'm done showing off. Thank you for indulging me.

The concept of mutual aid is so important to understand, and once we start to grasp how it looks, I feel like we can recognize examples even in our own neighborhoods and communities -- in spite of the fact that we live in systems that encourage competition! Just think what we could accomplish without these oppressive systems in place!

This knowledge should give us hope.

To all Comrades here:

Donald J Trump is now officially the 47th president of the United States of America, once again the white house is under the thumb of a tyrant. Its incredibly easy to give up in this wave of fascism and despair, I'm here to tell you don't. We may have lost this battle but the class struggle will never end so long as the working peoples of the world dream for a better tomorrow. We can organize, we can protest, we can fight back, and in the end we will win. Find a local resistance group, if there are none make one, create support networks, and utilize the things we have that they never will (compassion, community, and true unity despite us not all agreeing on everything). I believe in all of you and wish you all safety in the coming future.

The Party of Complicity

The Republicans have become the party of fascism. In the run-up to this election, the Democrats established themselves as the party of complicity with fascism.

What does it mean to acknowledge that Donald Trump is a fascist, and yet do no more than urge people to vote against him? If indeed, Trump intends to introduce fascism to the United States—if, as he has explicitly promised, he will round up millions of people (“the largest domestic deportation operation in American history”), put the military on the streets to suppress protests, and use the court system to attack anyone who opposes him—then limiting oneself to merely electoral opposition means welcoming fascism with open arms.

When fascism is on the way, the appropriate thing to do is to organize underground networks of resistance, as Italian and French anti-fascists did in the 1920s and 1930s. The appropriate thing to do is to prepare to resist by any means necessary. Anything less is complicity.

Beefing up the institutions through which the fascists will enact their policies is complicity. Normalizing violence against the people that the fascists intend to target is complicity. Turning over the communications platforms via which people share information is complicity. Discouraging people from the kind of tactics one needs to fight against a fascist regime is complicity. Over the past four years, the Democrats have done every single one of these things.

The Democratic party leadership is already prepared to coexist with fascists, to be ruled by fascists. They would prefer fascism to another four years of tumultuous protests. Having a more authoritarian party in power gives them an alibi—it makes them look good by comparison, even as they are the ones channeling people out of the streets and paving the way for Trump to carry out his program.
