I can't get a good answer for this as Google is thinking I'm talking just solely on the driver. I'm including passengers who don't. I've seen PSAs that tell you the dangers you pose for others as well when you don't wear a seatbelt. So if you don't wear a seatbelt and that results in someone being killed could you not wearing a seatbelt mean you get a manslaughter charge?

It's been a day and my parrot still has food in his bowl. Do I just replace it? Do I wait until he finishes it? How do I deal with replacing bird food?

Am I insane? (lemmy.world)

I am seriously thinking of commissioning a simple tungsten cube emblazoned with cuneiform style figures, set up on a stainless steel platform. For the legacy. For someone millions of years from now.

I only just learned today that, when someone from one instance gets banned from another instance, that person not only is no longer able to interact with the second instance, but people from the second instance actually can't see anything the person said from the moment they got banned even though they're still there. I'm disappointed to learn all my friends who got banned from my instance are still saying stuff and nobody told me, making it more akin to an instance forcing everyone to block them (because individuals blocking each other the same way work like this). And this is coming from the person who has fantasized about universalization of federation.

What's something about the fediverse that was most recently unobscured but that you know now?

Some people have rings that are so tightly stuck that even soap does not help, but dental floss works for them. Meanwhile, others find dental floss painful even with a mildly stuck ring, yet soap works well for very tight rings. Why is some skin more sensitive to dental floss? And what makes some people’s skin respond better to either soap or dental floss?

Great, we could sleep one hour more, but suddenly, it's getting dark at 18.

Great we have one hour more of sun on the morning, but instead of being pitch black when starting to commute to work it's just still dark and by the end of November it'll be pitch black anyway.

my first choice has always been an aspirin, but most of my coworkers tell me I'm wrong and I should use ibuprofen first.

What's your take?

I know this is a Controversial question, you don’t need to answer if you don’t want to.

I know people like to set everything to new and just leave it at that. Especially when you just got out of an algorithm abusive environment on major social media platforms.

For me, I changed to using the "hot" sorting method rather then the new and active sorting methods. Granted I started out with the "new".

Heres why I went from new to hot.

Some new posts don't get comments. There are sometimes duplicate posts that do get comments that are talking about the same topic.

What hot setting does is essentially, keep newer posts that are active with comments active. Score has an impact, but as a post itself get older itself then others will rise despite how high the score was or comment amount. Making this I think my current preferred.

In other words hot is a slight modification to active setting. Active doesn't factor the date of the post with scaling, and it even I think beats the algorithms since I know how it's working and that it might not change behind my back (looking at you Youtube.).

Last remarks: What are your favorite setting and/or perspectives on post sorting?

The laws regarding knives here can be a bit vague at times and I'm wondering if knives like this

Or this

Would be considered illegal? The top one is assisted and deploys in a way that seems like a switchblade and the bottom one can be opened with one hand thanks to the knob. I am not sure if they would be viewed any differently than a pocket knife because they use utility blades making it a bit more obvious that they are a tool.

Sometime i want to send small messages between devices, such as a url, a note, a id, a token, a piece of code, a picture Especially send between phone and laptop.

Some chatting app have self messages such as telegram saved messages, slack (you), Microsoft team...

However i don't want a bloated chat app that would took few hundred mb on phone, or required to install an app on my pc (linux which make many app broken). I don't want work chat app too, because self messages can be seen and scanned by employer (yes, a security add on chatbot on slack warm me because i send something like password to myself on slack)

Something like Opera Flow would fit perfectly, but i don't want opera browser.

So since I started taking my meds many years ago my dreams became more vivid and I can remember them better and in more detail. Usually this is great but I watched Terrifier 3 last night and had one the most messed up scenes of a dream stuck in my head. Wtf brain?! Seriously, it involved a child and now I'm messed up because of my own fucking brain, not even a real thing.

Any of you had a similar experience?
