Stealth works as well.
Same, I've switched all of my workstations to Kinoite and Silverblue over the past 18 months, and couldn't be much happier about it.
For what it's worth, GrapheneOS includes neither Google Play nor Android Auto. Like nearly any Android-based OS, it allows you to install apps of your choosing, but it does not include either of those. It is a FOSS project through and through.
I love how easy this has become. I can't imagine ever going back to a traditional distro model.
Ah, gotcha. I think that's just due to /sbin not being included in the PATH environmental variable for non-root users. Running sudo <command>
will work in those cases.
Thanks for the link. I'll play around with the remotes and add some feedback to the ticket.
If I can set the user remotes on behalf of other users in advance, that should suffice for now. Otherwise, if each user has to know how to add their own remote in order for it to take priority, that's a real pain point.
Flatpak apps will use the same dotfiles as apps installed via traditional methods, however the storage location will likely be different. Most dotfiles will be contained within their respective flatpak app directory under ~/.var
, so you can cherry pick which settings you want to bring over.
You've gotten some really good replies already (it's likely the cable or port issues). I just want to point out that the KingFast brand is dollar-store quality memory and storage. There are many online posts discussing their drives failing or corrupting after power interruptions, etc.
I know you said it's been replaced already, so just a caution against saving it for another rainy day project. I binned mine upon receipt of a refurbished PC.
I'll be honest, it's a tie between which is the most annoying "feature" of this platform; animated profile icons, or unicode user display names.
I look forward to having a settings toggle for both, but in the meantime all of my userstyle themes disable profile icons.
The karma system, as we former redditors know it, is susceptible to abuse (especially on a decentralized platform), results in a drive to repost popular content repeatedly, and is a poor representation of quality contributions. My vote would be no.
Ugh, this is so discouraging. I'm a big fan of Internet Lightspeed as an independent ISP (Vancouver area). I haven't seen news of a buy-out for them yet, and I hope I never do.
If that's one of those old 10" netbooks, I had good experiences running dwm and xmonad on mine back in the day (had an Acer and later an MSI Wind U120(?)). Typically ran all my apps maximized, one per desktop. Firefox did okay, but this was around 2010-2012. Mostly stuck with terminal apps and it was more than snappy enough.
