For example, on my profile picture. Find them on Coolbuddy or some other site and save as a webp.

You can also just download any GIF and convert it into WebP using an online converter like this. Then you can set that converted WebP as your profile picture.

Nice Tip , where can I find these endless looping gifs?

[-] GamerBoy705@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

It's not from a specific place. It was an old GIF I knew and I searched for it. You could search "[something] perfect loop gif" or similar in a search engine.

I'll be honest, it's a tie between which is the most annoying "feature" of this platform; animated profile icons, or unicode user display names.

I look forward to having a settings toggle for both, but in the meantime all of my userstyle themes disable profile icons.

Yeah! DAMN those people with names not in the Latin alphabet! DAMN THEM ALL TO HELL! How dare they not have real names written in a real alphabet!

[-] simple@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

I'm pretty sure they're talking about people spamming emojis and bright colors in their usernames.

Ha... I use Voyager and had -no clue- that Lemmy supported either one of these features (previously wef wef). Maybe turn it off in your client, or use Voyager?

There are people here not immediately turning profile pictures off?
