I would like to acknowledge here that Ada and I, while being part of a marginalized community are both still very privileged.
I also want to make clear that I'm not saying that you need to have decades of experience, or the means to cover the costs by yourself, but rather wanted to point out it's a hard job and you need to have (multiple, qualified) people to do the job for a larger instance. There may also be times when the donations don't 100% cover the costs, and you'll need to have a plan when this happens.
Unfortunately multiply intersectional marginalized people have a lot harder time getting that experience and to have a means to fund such instances. It can additonally be a lot harder for them to find opportunities to gain this experience.

You are actually a little bit correct.
Most uses of the misnomer "transphobia" are actually incorrect, because the people involved aren't actually suffering from an irrational medical or psychological fear of transgender people.
What they actually are doing is more accurately called "transmisia", because they are transmisic. This means they are heavily prejudiced against transgender women and believe that they shouldn't be involved in the competitions.
Their reason for this are not because the transgender women don't meet the beauty standards, or aren't passing the judging categories, but because they just don't want them there purely due to their trans-mysogynistic preconceptions.
Well, I don't technically work on the lemmy codebase (I have my hands full with adminning 3 instances and working on Hajkey), but yes I agree it'd be nice if the lemmy dev team could spend some time reviewing and improving the security, in amongst all the other stuff they have to do since Reddit imploded.

Ada, by far, has the most moderation experience and level head of the both of us.
If I was moderating this place it'd be a barren wasteland with salted and scorched earth as far as the eyes can see and a list of rules as long as your arm which keeps getting longer every time you look as I try to keep up with the rules lawyers.
When we first setup Blåhaj Zone with Ada, we discussed exactly this scenario and Ada said that you'll never create a set of rules that are comprehensive enough to defeat those that are intent on being horrible human beings and trying to make a safe space for queer and gender diverse people unsafe. And instead of keeping the space safe you'll spend all your time and effort refining and defending the intricacies of the rules.
Instead of doing that, we want a safe space, so the guiding principle is don't make it unsafe.
Obviously some people need more clarification on what safety means to us, but really if you need more than what we have provided to "get it", then you are the kind of person who would make it unsafe just by being present.
Most decent human beings can grok "be kind and respect each other" as a set square.
