“What struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces, fired from the deceased subject’s rifle,” the agency said in a statement.

They're saying it could have been a fragment of a bullet, which would qualify as shrapnel. They're not using that word.

I remember when my dad lost his job around 2002. I was a little kid and my mom told me to be careful when I'm playing outside, because if I broke my arm we could lose our house. That's something I don't think should ever be a reality, or something that parents or children should worry about in a functioning country.

About 10 years ago, the crypto community was talking about this with regard to microtransactions. The idea was that nobody really wants to pay a monthly subscription fee to news publications, but getting someone to digitally pay 1-10 cents to read an interesting article is probably doable. Unfortunately, digital currencies became what they are today instead of anything actually useful.

I grew up forced to go to church and this is pretty literally a core point of the pastor's sermon multiple times. He told a story about someone trapped on their roof during a hurricane and was offered rescue by three different means but refused each citing God. The story ended like the punchline here.

I don't really have a point to this, but I wanted to share.

Driving a car without plates is extremely common in this area. It has been ever since they suspended registration requirements during Covid. I see multiple cars without plates every time I go for a drive.
