I don’t really know much about his personal politics, but his work seems to speak pretty loudly about rejecting the idea of software as private property to be bought and sold by capital, which, you know, that’s more than just progressive, even if it’s just in one area.
It’s absurd because Biden wasn’t doing anything, like he was upholding the status quo, with limited efforts to patch up some issues.
Trump is straight up trying to gut the federal government and sell it for parts as well as legitimately trying to take away people’s rights, if not straight up make their existence a crime.
He’s also trying to do this with a pretty weak mandate. Most people who did want him wanted him for a specific policy and ignored the rest.
So he’s creating a huge amount of backlash while only appeasing a small group with each action.
This is a huge thing the Democratic Party needs to internalize unless they want to keep losing.
Support and work with local groups doing actual good on the ground outside of election season, maybe, like, I dunno, fund them a little with that massive fucking warchest? Be a much better use of the money than a deluge of YouTube ads.
Can I PLEASE just get a bubbly drink with caffeine that is unsweetned. The canned coffee is all too expensive and most of that has sugar in it to.
Just give me a sparkling unsweetened tea with extra caffeine. Is that to much to ask?
I always find this so funny, like people are talking “needing to innovate to solve the climate crisis”. like, FFS, WE’VE HAD ELECTRIC TRAINS FOR OVER 100 YEARS!
They don’t even need batteries! They just need a power line and a little hook!
Realistically, I’m not crazy about Biden, but if we wanted someone better we should have held primaries. Changing now is short sighted and won’t get us a more progressive candidate.
All we’ll get now is someone further to the right of Biden. It won’t be the electorate choosing a new Democratic nominee, it will be party insiders who choose someone even more out of touch than Biden.
See, I have no doubt they would if they could, but i doubt such things are actually feasible.
Like right now I just refresh the page to skip ads on my phone.
What I find most interesting, is not that twitter is failing in active users faster than the others, but that all the other listed in the article are also all seeing a decline in user ship. Even the new “up and comer” TikTok is losing users.
To some extent I suspect that it’s just a result of people breaking their social medias built during the pandemic. But is there something else? Are they just going to new platforms? Is there a modal shift on how people congregate online driven by the issues with platforms? Or are people just spending less time online with the pandemic mostly over.
Yah, people don’t seem to get that LLM can not consider the meaning or logic of the answers they give. They’re just assembling bits of language in patterns that are likely to come next based on their training data.
The technology of LLMs is fundamentally incapable of considering choices or doing critical thinking. Maybe new types of models will be able to do that but those models don’t exist yet.
One thing I think is severely underutilized is acquisition of limited information as a game mechanic.
Like, having the information available to the player change depending on how they build a character or interact with the world. So like, rather than just having the player know what the health of enemies is, or know exactly where things are with a compass, or being able to pinpoint their location on the map.
I play a lot of strategy games and particularly in those I think having to manage how orders get to units and information on what they see getting from them to me would be really interesting as more of a focus.
Or like in management games the player often has perfect information on the state of the market or organization they’re running, what if like, you had to get that through Jerry from accounting? What if Jerry lied? What if having to figure out Jerry from accounting is under reporting something to skim off the top was a game mechanic?
Look, just… just use fire fox! Sure some sights aren’t optimized for it, but it’s a minor difference in performance from a chromium based browser.
And the more people use fire fox the more sights will have a reason to optimize for it.
Anything that is using chromium is still using something built by Google, and thus if Google tries to alter chromium to make ad blockers stop working, or some other asinine idea, there isn’t much a browser can do about it.
They’re just so eager to pull their masks off, like. Like, there is only so much algorithm manipulation can do to obscure observable reality from their audience.
